Grocery Shopping=Fun and Relaxation

in Breakfast, Groceries, Lunch, Snacks

I woke up to an alarm set for 8:30 am. Late for what I’m used to!! I probably could have slept some more but I ddn’t want to ruin the early bed/wake up times I’ve gotten so used to while working. I like getting up early and having the whole day ahead of me rather than sleeping the day away!

I had organic soymilk, Kashi GoLean Crunch cereal, blueberries, 1/2 banana, and a dollop of Barney Butter. The view is from my parents’ 9th floor condo in a town center. There are so many restaurants and shops downstairs that I can’t wait to show y’all!

[Enter a rather big spoonful of unphotographed Barney Butter here]

And 1/2 a piece of whole wheat toast+Barney Butter+1/2 banana while catching up on blogs.

I have a day to do absolutely nothing and where do I go!?!? You betcha!!! It sure feels good to be back at home Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods! The best part about the condo is that these 2 stores are about 1 mile away! WAHOO!!!

Look what I found….a new D.I.Y. Trail Mix Bar @ WFs!!

Looks like the Muesli Bar in the London WFs, although not quite as cool/expensive.

What went in my it’s-been-way-too-long-since-I’ve-shopped-here basket, you ask!?

TJs:

  • Unsweeteend Vanilla Almond Breeze
  • Cinnamon Raisin Ezekiel 4:9 Bread
  • TJs Feta Cheese
  • TJs Whole Wheat Pizza Dough
  • TJs Quattro Formaggio shredded cheeses
  • TJs Carrot Ginger Oat Bran Muffins
  • TJs Plain 0% Greek-Style Yogurt
  • Pizza Sauce
  • Greens+ Chocolate Energy Bar

WFs

  • Spinach
  • Adora Calcium Supplement

My dad likes to buy produce from a different place so I’ll leave that for him. I just needed my spinach NOW :)

During the trip I ate the Greens+ Bar (see bottom left of the grocery photo). I had seen them in the past but my brother told me to give ‘em a shot…so I did. It was like eating a Green Monster in chocolate bar/brownie form. What set it apart from other bars was the stickiness and chewiness of it. Definitely my favorite texture in a bar. It helped that it was GREEN!

It had all readable ingredients (a plus! Hehe get it?) that impressed me, one after another! Definitely picking these up again. soon.

I also had one of these:

I’m only slightly addicted to these guys. They’re like carrot cake without the unnecessary sugar content and in muffin form. To me, they can actually be considered a real breakfast food. Check out the ingredients! Reads like a book–no stumbling for hydrogenated dizziness!

I bought ingredients to make a PIZZA because a) I’ve always been so intrigued by the bag o’ pizza dough and b) my aunt was asking last night about eating some pizza.  I think I’ll make some tomorrow night for the fam!

I’m off to write some emails and then hit the gym! It’s been 1 entire frickin’ week. My body is NOT happy with me right now!

When I spent a year abroad in Belgium I have to say, Trader Joe’s was up there on the list of things I missed! “Health food” is just not the same in Europe (though I’m sure it was better in London).

You’re lucky to have a TJ’s and Whole Foods close by. The muffins look deliciously moist!

Oh my god, that place is heaven…close to both WF and TJ? And DIY granola? Super sweet!

I just adore TJ’s. The closest one to me is about an hour away, but it doesn’t stop me from making the montly commute to this goldmine of a store.

Love the muffins. I’m so sad I didn’t spot these guys on my last trip, but they are now making my list for next time.

Glad to see you are having a great time at home.

Can’t wait to see your pizza creation!
PS- Hummus on pizza= nothing less than amazing! ;)
