I booked my flight on Sunday for 6:30pm so I would have a whole extra day to explore Boston. Before setting out for the day, I had half an oat (?) bagel w/ some TJ’s vanilla nonfat yogurt and a couple handfuls of Kashi Heart to Heart cereal.

We booked tickets for the Boston Duck Tours the night before and even then there were only a few tickets left! On the way, we had first row seats watching the bridge split open.

Mari had never been on the Duck so this was a first for both of us! Our purple duck was named ‘North End Norma.’

Our HILARIOUS goofball of a driver. He kept saying “quack quack”…cracked me up!

DRIVING into the water!!

Our driver asked if any kids wanted to steer the boat. I waved my hand high in the sky. I’m still a kid, right?
Such a pretty view:

View of some other boats, the bridge that split open for us, and Bunker Hill:

Waterfront property= A PRISON!!

A chunk of the Berlin Wall:

After the Duck tour, I asked if we could go to Flour Bakery and Cafe. I remember hearing about this place from Cristin.
It was so much better than what I expected (and my expectations were pretty HIGH)!!

It was such a cute place to eat w/ air conditioning on full blast (thank goodness for it was a HOT day)!

I got the Granola Bar–the name does NOT do it justice! A Chewy Bar would never survive in the same room as this guy. He was loaded with oats, honey, walnuts, cranberry-apricot-apple jam.

I also got the grilled roasted chicken, brie, arugula, peppers, and onions sandwich. I wanted the portobello or tofu sandwiches but they were sold out! This totally hit the spot. I ate it [too] quickly!! I love brie in sandwiches.

I didn’t follow their motto “make life sweeter…eat dessert first!” (though I was tempted) and ate the granola bar afterwards as dessert
We spent the rest of the day walking around Coolidge Corner, BU campus, and then headed to the airport….
…where my Barney Butter was stolen
…and where we waited for over an hour on the runway before taking off.
The important part was that I made it home safe and sound. Thanks, Mari for letting me stay with you and showing me around!!
Tonight, I am FINALLY seeing Harry Potter w/ my mom and brother AND Julie and Julia. Tuesdays are $6 movie nights at the theatre down the street. Livin’ up the summer life before school starts oh so soon!

Boston has a duck tour too? I thought it was just a Seattle thing, lol.
You are totally a kid and allowed to drive a bus that rides in water!

Julia and Julia was so good. I really enjoyed this movie and felt so inspired after seeing it. It makes me want to write a cookbook. I’ve definitely put this goal on my bucket list.

This tour looks awesome! How fun to explore Boston in that. And that granola bar does look amazing.
I can’t believe I live here and I’ve never tried Flour Bakery!!! I do have a funny Duck Tour story though.
The verrrrry short version is that I took a few of my bridesmaids on a Duck Tour during my bachelorette weekend. I knew we were going out partying that night, so I started hydrating first thing in the morning. A half hour into the 2 hour tour, I’m about ready to jump off the back of the Duck Tour boat because I have to pee so badly (and they won’t let me off!). I literally almost had a panic attack, and didn’t get to see or enjoy the second half of the tour. Now I have to pee whenever I see those darn boats!
I’m so sorry you missed out on the tofu sandwich! That’s the one I had at Flour before leaving HLS on Sunday. It was amazing … crispy crunchy delish.
Wow, looks like such fun, love the bus driver! And that granola bar, oh my goodness, if the picture doesn’t do it justice, I can’t even imagine how good it must have looked in real life!
I definitely saw you at HLS! I thought you looked really familiar but couldn’t see your name tag. Once I got home, I remembered that I just subscribed to your blog
Al Pal … Looks like you had a great time in Boston! It’s great to catch up with you on your blog, but I’d still like to hear your VOICE! I’m making the move tomorrow morning so I’ll give you a call on my loooooooong drive.
