Personal Cup Coffee Maker

My heart aches every time I get coffee and the register rings $2. Do you know how much coffee (in grinds/beans) 2 buckeroos can get you??

I backed off of coffee this summer when I started drinking Green Monsters and my life was less stressful but now that I’m back to school I KNOW I will need it to stay alert and perky during lectures.

Coffee is everywhere on campus (duh) and it is so convenient but I will try and mitigate the money sucker by making my own in the morning. Maybe not on Tuesdays and Thursdays when I have class at 8:30 AM (!!!!!).

Enter my personal cup coffee maker.

1) Single-Cup Coffee Brewer: My Pops has used this single-cup coffee brewer for years when he just needs 1 cup and does not want to dirty the entire coffee maker. I’ve been looking for this sucker all over the place and finally found it at Bi-Lo this summer….go figure.

2) Hot Water Kettle: I’ve had this in my dorm room for years to make tea and hot chocolate with. It’s so convenient.

3) Coffee Grinds: I saw the Fresh Market Spring Blend coffee first on Kath’s blog. When I finally found a Fresh Market I immediately picked it up to sniff. Holy snickers, it is by far the best smelling coffee I have ever laid my nose on!! Needless to say I got some.

4) A Mug: I need to go get a larger mug. I cannot believe of ALLLLL the 2434 mugs we have at home I did not bring a single one. This little dainty tea cup will not cut it long term.

Here she is:

It’s not too complicated of a process:

1. Place the filter in the brewer

2. Fill with coffee grinds (~2 tablespoons?)

3. Boil water

4. Pour water in the brewer

5. Wait and pour some more until the cup is filled

I also had my favorite combination of the week: Kashi Honey Almond Flax Bar with my [half-empty] jar of Maranatha Dark Chocolate Almond Spread

And some strawberries from yesterday. After the photo shoot, I had the other half of the bar with more spread.

I dawdled around debating if I should go to the gym because I would then have to shower and by the time I was ready to go it would be late afternoon. So dawdling and then doing nothing would NOT have the same result!??! I frustrate myself sometimes.

It started pouring rain AGAIN. I swear we live in a tropical rainforest.

So I did some power yoga with Dave Farmar. I didn’t last too long because my lower back is in 90-year old pain (probably from my sleep number dorm bed) and my muscles are cold.

Maybe after some quality TJs and WFs running around I will be warmed up and ready to move my derriere! It finally stopped raining so I’m heading out. Have a fab Saturday!

No, I must be seeing things. Did I just witness dark chocolate and almond combined into a butter form that I can spread?!

Very cute coffee maker – actually it’s one of the best ideas I’ve seen from blogs. Saves the hassle of cleaning the coffee maker on a daily basis!

I love that single serve coffee gadget! I’ll have to look for something like that around here as I drink decaf and/or flavoured coffee and the hub is strictly plain ole caffinated coffee. That little do hooky would solve the issues!

Did I mention how much I love reading your posts? Def started making my own coffee/tea last year when I first stated college. My mother’s an artist so she doesn’t have much to offer me money wise for college so every penny counts for me!

Love spring blend!!!

You totally need a french press. Perfect for one cup and no filter waste!

I never drank coffee until I had a biochem class at 8am. It wasn’t that class that I needed the coffee for, it was the business management class after it that I never stayed awake for!

This Melita single brew is perfect. I prefer the French press so that I can get the cream of the coffee, but it does take some time to clean. The single brew is what I use at work to get a quick cup. Works great. Good for camping, on the road, or on the plane. You are staying so healthy with all your veggie foods and grains -I need to do the same.
