The Good, The Great, and The UGLY

THE GOOD

Before heading out on my culinary adventure, I had a Get Your Veggies Sandwich on honey wheat bread from Alpine Bagels, one of the on-campus eateries. I did not make up that name, I swear :)

Inside: hummus and ALL the veggies they had. I’m thinking this may will be showing up here more often than not.

THE GREAT

First stop: Whole Foods Market. I will never get tired of typing those 3 words. My bill was SUPER low because I got both those Oikos Yogurts and the Pom Wonderful for FREE. I took my HLS coupons with me. The cashier was extremely confused as to how I got my hands on such sweet coupons.

All of this was less than $8!!

-Ezekiel Sprouted Grain Tortillas for some wrappage!

-Oikos 0% Plain Greek Yogurt (thanks, Stonyfield Farm!)

-Pom Wonderful 100% Pomegranate Juice (thanks!)

-3 Packs of Justin’s Maple Almond Butter. You know, for emergencies. They were 69 cents instead of 99 cents today–woohoo!

-Mini Loaf Nutty Carrot Bread. I couldn’t put it down once I picked it up!

Next Stop: Trader Joe’s

These two places are about 1/4 of a mile from each other…how perfect!?

-Frozen Organic Veggies: Mixed Peppers, Chopped Spinach, Broccoli Florets

-Portobello Mushroom Caps

-Cone Coffee Filters

IMG_5859.JPG

-Fiberful Ends & Pieces: These are the edges of handmade and therefore uneven Fiberful sheets. I’ve never had actual Fiberful bars but these tasted like healthier fruit snacks! I love how most of the pieces are stringy!

-TJs Chevre Goat Cheese

-Cinnamon Raisin Ezekiel Bread

-TJs PLAIN NONFAT TART FROZEN YOGURT!!!!!! I saw this on Lauren’s blog a few days ago and you better believe this was in my dreams all week long. If you haven’t noticed I’m obsessed with tart froyo. I had a bite upon entering the apartment. SO GOOD. Do you have any idea how much moolah this will save me!? A lot.

THE UGLY

Today I went to the bookstore and got these ugly things. $320. That’s 17 lunch sacks!!!!! I still have 1 more book to get, too. What do you think? Will these things have pretty pictures inside to look at!? Ha!

I’m going to go search the internet to see if I can get any of these at a cheaper price.

I am jealous of you going to TJs. The closest one to me is about 1.5 hours away. It’s my mecca though, I make pilgrimages :D

And I’m telling you, Chegg.com is the way to go if you don’t want to keep your books at the end of the semester. I just wrote a review of it on my blog :D

Text books…the bane of what little cash we have as college students.

I still don’t believe you got all that for under $8 at WF. That’s amazing!

textbooks are a bitch, but GO TO http://www.bigwords.com !!!!!! They compare amazon, half.com, ebay, chegg and others and find the lowest price for you. Used books are where its at. i love chegg too, because its just a rental service, for those books you don’t think you’ll ever open again! i saved so much money this year on textbooks. never again shall i make that freshman mistake of shelling out 300 to the BU Bookstore!

oh and nice eats :)

The good looks so yummy, the great looks even better! I am so glad you got the Fro-Yo! It’s so freaking good, really it reminds me so much of Pinkberry. I love to re-create my own pinkberry creation with it by adding mango, kiwi and coconut. Delish!

And the ugly BLOWS! Sorry to hear about the small fortune you had to spend. Ugh, textbooks are so overrated.

Don’t miss expensive textbooks but I miss school! :s
I don’t think I’ll pass on carrot cake. Ever. I’m such a nerd obsessing about grocery shopping and reading about other people’s purchases. :D

That sandwich looks AMAZING. Especially the bread. I would eat that on many occasions.

I’m so glad my days of buying textbooks are over (at least for now)…they’re so expensive, and some professors don’t even have you use them that much. (Or some people just choose not to use them…either way…)

Books are so expensive…think of it as an investment in your future :D

LOVE TJ’s and Whole Foods…so lucky to live near them and that they are close together! I’d wondered what those fiberful ends and pieces were after seeing them on someone else’s blog. Fro-yo = awesome. I’ve never had a tart kind before…will be hitting up some places when I get to NY!

Wow! that sandwich is impressive for on-campus food! I wish they had awesome stuff like that at my school :(

Ugh, I hear ya on the $$$ books! I don’t even want to know how much mine are going to cost!

Anyways, it was great meeting you last weekend! I am just now getting around to checking out all the blogs (I lost the sheet LOL)
