Jam Packed

in Trips

My eats today were massive quantities of kefir, yogurt, broccoli slaw, lettuce, and everything else I had to finish off before leaving town! Where am I going!?

Tonight, I’m not going too far but Saturday I am driving to DC to attend a conference!

I’m off to go eat dinner at a mall (haven’t done that in a LONG time) and then staying overnight at a hotel for a recruitment counselor overnight retreat.

I have a jam packed weekend. I’m still unsure how I’m going to survive but I sure hope I do!

So what’s on the agenda?

FRI night to SAT morning: Recruitment Counselor Overnight Retreat at a hotel in Raleigh

SAT 1pm-6pm: Drive home (5 hours!!)

SAT 6pm Attend Conference Dinner (change in the car!?)

SUN All day: Conference Day 2 (Service Day)

SUN 7pm Conference Formal Dinner

MON 8am: Conference Blogger Breakfast

MON 9am-4pm: Conference Day 3

MON Night: Drive 5 hours back to school

TUES 8:30 AM CLASS!!!

.

I cannot believe I’ve kept my mouth shut for this long…..(it took every last nerve in my body)

A few weeks ago I got an email from Foodbuzz asking if I wanted to attend the Share Our Strength Conference of Leaders in Washington DC. I have been reading about Share Our Strength (SOS) for months now because I am very interested in their nonprofit work. I saw that SOS was holdng the conference but knew I did not have $450 to pay for the ticket. It was actually extremely coincidental and SO lucky that I got the email from Foodbuzz. I could hardly believe my eyes! This would be an opportunity of a lifetime!!

The problem was that I had a mandatory recruitment counselor retreat the same weekend…tonight!! I was not going to let that stop me, however. The schedules worked out that I could book it home and make it to most of the conference including a blogger breakfast!!!

You all have absolutely NO idea how excited I am to attend this conference. Click here to see the jam packed agenda! I can’t wait to learn more about the company and their strategies for eradicating hunger and poverty in the US. There will be many guest speakers as well as dinners prepared by famous chefs including a Food Network star, Aaron McCargo Jr.!!!

What does SOS do?

Just to give you a brief introduction to Share Our Strength…

SOS is a national organization working to end child hunger in the US. SOS holds culinary events, solicits individual donations and utilizes social media efforts to raise funds which are then used to fund long-term solutions to the hunger problem . Have you heard of programs such as Taste of the Nation? Great American Bake Sale? A Tasteful Pursuit? Great American Dine Out? Hinges of Hope? These are all programs that SOS puts on to raise funds.

I will definitely write more about SOS and the Conference of Leaders as the weekend progresses.

I hope both your retreat and conference are productive and fun!

*sigh* oh man, me and bookbagging are not friends. I ended up not taking either the food&energy class OR any physedu classes because my schedule doesn’t allow it. GRRRR
