Fabulous Four

I hit up the Fab Four today: Target, Trader Joe’s, Harris Teeter and Whole Foods. They are all within a 1 mile radius from my parents’ condo! I spent a lot of time buying very little–just browsing around mainly.

For breakfast, I tried remaking my Multigrain Butternut Squash Banana Pancakes sans b-nut squash and banana. T’was a bad idea because the pancakes really needed some squash/pumpkin for moisture. As a result, they turned out a little dry.

Oh well, the toppings made up for it! Chocolate chips, unsweetened coconut flakes and almond butter drizzle. With a side of maple syrup.

YAHHHMM!!

While shopping, I sipped on a half caf coffee from Starbucks w/ 3 pumps of Pumpkin Spice Syrup—Mmmmm! This is officially my favorite hot bevvy. (repeat photo)

I spotted THIS at Target!!!

They’re forgetting the most important part: EAT!!!! :) :)

When I came back I had a Stonyfield Pumpkin Pie yogurt that I got at Harris Teeter using my coupon from HLS! It was double the value because coupons under 99 cents get doubled at HT.

50 cents–> $1 off! Cha-ching!

I liked it! I’d heard mixed reviews around the blogworld so I didn’t know what to expect. It had a pleasant pumpkiny flavor. Definitely different from my pumpkin mixed into yogurt creation though.

I snacked on 1/2 a bagel w/ almond butter before hitting the tennis court for ~ 1 hour with my Momma. No photo!

I stopped by Whole Foods to get dinner since my parents went out with their friends. Parents OUT. Allie AT HOME. Ya gotta love this picture.

I got some veggies from the salad bar (I’ve been lacking some leafy greens since coming home).

IMG_9339.JPG

  • Seafood including shrimp, scallops, and calamari
  • 3 cubes of tofu

I like putting grain salads into little sample dishes so they don’t get lost in the box of salad. That way I can actually taste them!

  • Butternut Fregola Salad
  • Hazelnut Wild Rice Salad
  • Multigrain Tabouleh Salad

IMG_9344.JPG

All eaten on top of my salad!

IMG_9349.JPG

I also had some butter pecan ice cream x2….perhaps 3 :) There’s a reason why I use a small dish!

Off to…

  • Watch the American Music Awards
  • Pretend to do homework
  • And then watch My Sister’s Keeper (FINALLY) w/ my Momma ($1 from the Red Box!!).

How do you do drizzle of almond butter? Cause mine is too thick to try to drizzle over something. Do you put the jar or a small quantity in the microwave? Do you let your jar at room temperature?

I love Red Box.. my hub and I frequent at least once a week. I always “pre-order” online, though, because I hate to feel rushed if there are people behind me!

Love the almond butter drizzle! I’m glad you like the pumpkin pie yogurt–’tis one of my favorites too! Super jealous of the grain salads. I wish they had butternut fregola + hazelnut wild rice salads at my Whole Foods :P

No shame in going for thirds on butter pecan ice cream. Yum.

I made Squash Harvest Loaves today with butternut squash and had leftover squash, so now I want to make those pancakes – sounds so so yummy! Looks like you had a fun day shopping. Is Harris Teeter an east coast grocery store? Hope you’re enjoying your night home alone : )

Mmm those little grain salads look delicious. I wish we had a Whole Foods closer – the nearest is like 45 minutes away so I’ve only driven past. My parents have a Harris Teeter right by their house and I’m always so jealous. My dad will text me cell phone pics of sales, or my mom will call w/ awesome discount reports.

What is the Harry Teeter store like? One of my 101 list things is to spend $100 on 25 items…maybe I’ll go to Cora in France, it’s like a Frnech Super Target (is Target French?). I totally miss MISO from whole foods!

I sm BEYOND excited to hit the trifecta of Target, TJ’s and WF’s when I get back into the states. It’s going to be lovely to just wander the grocery store. Why do we enjoy it so so much?!?!?! Strange college kids we are :)

such a fun day, doing groceries is just the best date ever on weekends!!! (yay~~~ we’re groceries nerd ;) )
I had some pancake/waffle like yesterday morning too, it’s soooo good! I added pumpkin and it’s the key for a puffy moisturized waffle/pancake. ;)

What a great idea! I love how you put your grains in the sauce containers. I always have the same problem whenever I go to the WF salad bar. Everything has the tendency to get lost and then I forget what I even put in my salad. I’m going to have to try your idea the next time I’m there. BTW, your pancakes looked gorgeous – I never would have guessed they weren’t as moist as you would have liked. They looked perfect to me. Enjoy your time at home!

Oooh that picture frame is perfect for you :D But yeah, they should have forgotten the eating part!

You are so lucky that your parents live near such great places. The Whole Foods hot bar stuff looks deeelish! It’s been way too long since my last venture to WFs :(
