Waddlin’ Like a Penguin

So last night my calves (the lower end), where they meet the achilles got incredibly tiiiiiiiiiight. So tight that simply bringing my toes toward my shins hurts. Badly. I had my dad massage them and I tried rolling them out but nothing has really worked. I woke up this morning barely able to walk!! I had to waddle around like a penguin….going into labor….

What the heck!? I didn’t even workout the day before so it couldn’t have been sore muscles. My only guess is the jumping jacks I did during the basketball game!? I always do jumping jacks but I guess not when I’m barefoot?? UGH I blame CBS.

Needless to say I didn’t workout today. I have done 50 billion downward dogs to stretch out my calves though.

Lunch Time Breakfast. That’s what I’m calling my 11:30 AM breakfasts. I’ve gotta fix up my wake up/bed times. Day time is barely long enough as it is!

I ate my apple (nuked for 2 min.) with a Justin’s Honey Almond Butter Squeeze Pack. I’ve had many packets of Maple but have never tried Honey. It was okay. Maple is the bestest in my book.

Color changin’ apple.

IMG_0409.JPG

I also had some leftover kabocha squash slices.

IMG_0389.JPG

I made another mug of pumpkin pie spice coffee just like yesterday. This time I drank it out of our Starbucks mug to make it seem REAL. I’m definitely Team Starbucks. What about you?

IMG_0421.JPG

Not too long after, I had a kefir+Greek yogurt bowl with the uzhe.

IMG_0428.JPG

My Momma and I headed out in the snow-covered streets to do some Christmas shopping. I didn’t buy anything for myself or anyone else. Humph. I’m gonna have to brainstorm presents big time the next couple o’ days. I’m running out of time! Yeeps!

We came home hungrrrry. The emergency Bliss chocolate from my Momma’s purse didn’t last long!

We decided on some quick pita pizzas. No cooking necessary. I also had a side of broccoli slaw+dressing. I finally finished off the bag!!

IMG_0438.JPG

I topped mine with pizza sauce, mushrooms, broccoli slaw, and cinnamon cranberry goat cheese. Mmmmmm!

IMG_0440.JPG

Hi little baby mushroom!

IMG_0446.JPG

Momma’s pizza w/ shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.

IMG_0445.JPG

After dinner we had some persimmon, kiwi and unpictured oranges. It’s funny because I remember hating persimmon as a child but I just gave it another try and I love it! I was a rather picky child back in the day. Glad I’m not so picky anymore–there are too many yummy foods out there to be picky!!

IMG_0460.JPG

We stopped at a Mom and Pop bakery to pick up a birthday cake for my uncle (happy birthday, Uncle!). We picked a Key Lime Mousse Cake.

IMG_0454.JPG

I love the holiday white chocolate border! Can’t wait to eat a big ol’ slice of this guy!

IMG_0456.JPG

The bakery doesn’t look spiffy from the outside but it sure has some high-quality baked goods, sandwiches and coffee inside. They had a help wanted sign on the door too (yes? job? yes?) :) There was a guy asking for an application when we were there. If I didn’t have to go back to school I would totally apply too!

Alright, off to stretch out my calves and eat some cake! So close to Christmas!!!!

Yikes! Sorry about your calves Allie!! :( You did have really yummy eats today though…i agree that maple is the best flavor!!!

HAHHA about applying for the bakery job. You have no idea how many times that thought has crossed my mind whenever i visit Hong Kong and i pass by a bakery. Last summer, i even went to ask for an application, but they were out. hahah :P

Hope your calf feels better. My right hamstring is tight too – I have done some stretches, foam rollered and it still isn’t any better.

Those cakes are amazing looking. I hope they taste as good as they look.

I don’t drink coffee – I drink tea – so it doesn’t really matter where it comes from.

I’ve so been there and it’s the worst. You finally get them stretched out enough to stand straight, then you sit down for a couple minutes and can’t walk again. As a Seattle girl born & raised, you know I love my Starbucks! :)

Your pictures look so beautiful! Totally Starbucks. What’s the alternative – Peets? Not even a competition.

Happy Birthday uncle! I just discovered that I tweaked my lower back/hurt a disc or something, because my back totally hurts. I’m so pissed! Downward dogs were so good to me until today! Boo! However, they would probably help you in this situation. Okay, this comment was so totally about me and not you. I apologize for this and leave you with the fact that I’m putting “Meet Allie” as number 70 on my To Do Lifetime List.

What a beautiful cake! Hope your calves feel better SOON! Would some heat packs help your calves? Maybe some bananas too?! Low potassium can cause muscle cramps. Feel better soon!

The labor walk! 8O Eeeeek, that’s a painful analogy… I have yet to try that almond butter, lol. I’m a slow one!

Pita pizza is something that every other blogger except me seems to have tried. :? Your mom’s looks scrumptious—so cheesy! :D I used to hate persimmons, too! Now it’s the complete opposite, fortunately. My diet as a kid consisted of chicken tenders, Texas Toast, Kraft instant mac&cheese (. . .), and hot dogs. I’m glad I branched out, to say the least…

Beautiful cake!

Oh, and PS–have you seen Justins Nut butters new flavors? Chocolate Almond butter…chocolate hazelnut butter. yum.

Hey sweetie!
First, LOVE the new look. Super cute! :)

And second, sorry to hear about your calve hurts. I had the same thing happen to me awhile ago and I found the BEST cure was to buy a pair of Dr. Schoels gel inserts. I swear to God, after I put these in my sneakers, ALL of my calve pain magically went away and never came back.

Glad you were able to get out today. Crazy snow storm, right?
Have a great day love!

Hopefully your calves start to feel better. It would be a shame to be a crippled penguin on Christmas. :(
That cake looks awesome! There’s a place in the city that I live in that specializes in French pastries and chocolates. Even though I can’t eat them, I would love make them. :)
