Resort + Downtown Disney

We MADE it!! After 14 long hours we arrived safely (at 11:30pm!!) and found a beautiful resort as our timeshare exchange. The human body is NOT designed to sit for 14 hours straight. Now I can say I know first hand, exactly why. Boy was my body in pain from head to toe by the end of our road trip!!

A few shots of our digs:

There is another room with 2 full size beds.

IMG_1093.JPG

What a beautiful dining table.

IMG_1094.JPG

The best part about resorts? A kitch!!

IMG_1095.JPG

There are times when I workout because I desperately need to shower. There are other times when I workout because I sat in a car for 14 hours the day before. Today was the best of both worlds/situations, as Hannah would say :)

This morning I woke up and went to the fitness center for 20 min. on the treadmill and 20 min. on the elliptical. I quickly remembered why I prefer to workout in the afternoon. I was huuungry! Watching The Food Network on the TV monitor probably didn’t help much either.

Breakfast: Oats + pear + pecans

The other pear half + almond butter

I snapped a couple shots of the resort for you to see. Don’t be fooled by the sunshine!! Unforch, there is a cold front coming through and it is ~20 degrees colder than usual. Brrrrrr!!!!

The view from our unit:

There is a heated pool and a hot tub (too bad I didn’t bring my suit), tennis courts, basketball courts, and water everywhere!

Today we went to Downtown Disney, which is pretty much a bunch of Disney shops and restaurants all in one area. Here are some highlights:

IMG_1109.JPG

IMG_1130.JPG

Princess Allie :)

IMG_1119.JPG

I wanted this Minnie-bottom MUG so badly!!

IMG_1122.JPG

There was a huge Lego Store and outside of it were creatures large and small made out of LEGOS. Here are some doggies!

IMG_1125.JPG

A humongous robot!

IMG_1128.JPG

And then we snacked on some glazed donuts.

IMG_1136.JPG

Just kidding!! They were magnets. Don’t they look REAL!?

IMG_1135.JPG

I brought a banana for a snack…a real banana :)

IMG_1108.JPG

And I got a peppermint bark sample at Ghirardelli.

IMG_1111.JPG

Later we went shopping at the Premium Outlets right by our resort. It was huge!! There was a even a Lululemon Outlet Store and I SO wanted an I <3 Running Sigg!!

My parents ate Chinese food, which I actually dislike quite a bit (!!) and later, fried chicken from Publix. So I ended up eating a salad with avocado, salsa and tortilla chips when we got back to our resort. My hunger levels were pretty tame today…not sure why.

IMG_1139.JPG

We brought the lettuce and avocado from home!

IMG_1140.JPG

Some strawberries from Publix–so fresh!

IMG_1143.JPG

Cantaloupe.

IMG_1145.JPG

And finally some Butter Almond Thins with decaf coffee while checking my email. My inbox + Google Reader bleeeeew up!

IMG_1144.JPG

Not sure what’s on the agenda tomorrow…maybe some tennis?

I hope your post-vacation workdays weren’t too painful!! I’ll be in the same boat next week!

Ohhh how much fun! :D It still looks beautiful, despite being chilly! I need to convince my parents to let me use a week of their time-share! I want a vacay now! hehe

I love the Minnie mug too, it’s so adorable! But I hate how expensive everything Disney related is. The lego stuff is awesome! Makes my mini creations as a kid look pitiful.

And WOW does all that fresh fruit look good! I’m missing that about now in the dead of Chicago winter! The last couple things I’ve bought haven’t been sweet, so I just gave up!

Awww, dislike Chinese food? I hate Americanized-Chinese food, but drool at Peking duck and pork buns and things. You look like you’re ready to have some serious fun! That Minnie bottom mug is too cute. And nah, I wasn’t fooled by the glazed donut—I don’t think you’d hold it in your hand because of the stickiness! Then again, “for the blog”… ;)

I was telling Maggie that my family has a time share in Charleston! We’re talking about renting a week and staying there this coming spring, and you should come! Considering Charleston isnt that far from Duke! Let Maggie or I know your spring break schedule!

Happy New Year, Allie! All the best for achieving your goals, too. Your sunshine break looks like great fun, even if it is cooler than anticipated (I’ll trade you the -5º we have here!). The Lego dogs are impressive – I wouldn’t mind adopting one… You should treat yourself to one of your desires at the outlet or the cute Minnie mug. Enjoy! :-)

lol– I always feel a little weird watching the food network while working out! Loooks like a great trip so far!

I feel your pain on the road trip thing…we have a twenty hour car ride coming up when we head home at the end of this week, and I’m basically dreading it :-(

Loooved the Lego store and downtown Disney. When we went there we saw the Cirque du Soleil show and it was awesome! Not sure if it’s still there, but if it is you and the fam should definitely hit it up.

Have fun on vacation!!! I am so jealoussssssssssss :[ I got back from vegas a few days ago and for the entire 10 days, I was without a gym (all gyms in vegas hotels require buyin 1-day passes that were like $25), without internet (internet for a day was $15)……….. your resort looks so comfy and I love that you get internet + gym! :D

So glad you guys made it! 14 hours in the car would kill me–i’m the worst road-tripper ;)

WOW that is nice resort! And I’m so jealous of all your Disney adventures…you’re never too old!

My favorite time to work out is in the morning about an hour or so after breakfast. I’m rested from sleep, fueled from breakfast, it’s great! Too bad in the real world, I’ll either be in class or at work during that time…oh well!

I’m jealous! Despite the “cold” it looks beautiful! It’s like -10/15 C where I am with tons of snow everywhere! So whatever it is there seems very warm in comparison:). That salad looks delish…a bit Mexican or something! Enjoy your trip!

Hello!
Is your timeshare in that Celebration complex in Florida? It honestly looks AMAZING! I can’t believe you didn’t bring a swimsuit!! If you go to Wal-mart you could probably get one for $10? I have to say that you look absolutely STUNNING in that picture! Did you end up getting the Mini Mug? What a great idea! Have a WONDERFUL time. I hope you are enjoying the down time, getting some MUCH DESERVED tlc before classes, and are happy and healthy! GREAT post!
Barbara
