Yogurt Withdrawal

I woke up this morning with tight muscles and an empty tum-tum! My muscles weren’t really sore, they just needed a good streeeetch. The gym here doesn’t have mats so I’ve been lightly stretching while standing up, rather than sitting down and really goin’ at it. The OTHER gym however….(more on that later).   I needed some yoga this morning big time!

I had the usual oatmeal + 1 egg white with pears + apples and a cup o’ Joey. I don’t have too many breakfast options here, hence the redundancy :(

IMG_1173.JPG

I’m missing my yogurt+kefir!!! I’m experiencing serious withdrawal symptoms. I  could have sworn I smelled strawberry yogurt today when there was nothing of that nature around.

IMG_1174.JPG

Then I hit up the tennis courts with the ‘rents. We hit together for about an hour and a half. I got bored so my parents continued and I went over to the recreation center to see what was inside.

There was a beautiful gym inside with slightly newer equipment (compared to the other gym) and weight machines. Cha-ching!! I ellipticalled for 40 min. and then did a quick full body strength training sesh. I ended up doing body weight and dumbbell exercises anyways, but it’s always fun to have machines around to keep me company :) .

IMG_1180.JPG

When I finished, I was surprised that my parents were still hitting!! The weather was too great, I suppose. *It’s still pretty cold down here but after you move around, it’s not too bad under the sun.

Here’s an action shot of my MOMMA (not me!).

IMG_1184.JPG

Afterwards, I was pretty hungry but I wanted to eat dinner a little later since we’re watching Avatar tonight. So I snacked away! I had some carrots and tortilla chips with salsa and a piece of toast with banana and almond butter (not pictured) to hold me over.

IMG_1186.JPG

For din, I roasted a kabocha squash. Look how many slices I got from 1 squashie!

IMG_1190.JPG

And pulled out some shrimp from the freezer.

IMG_1187.JPG

I had no idea what to make with the ingredients we had on hand!! I’m surprised I managed to come up with this:

Doesn’t it look summery?! …maybe just the salad.

IMG_1191.JPG

A side salad with avocado and pan-fried shrimp:

IMG_1192.JPG

Veggie scramble with 1 egg+1 egg white, mushrooms, and tomatoes:

Squashies:

IMG_1194.JPG

T’was a beautiful day!!

IMG_1200.JPG

I wasn’t kidding when I said we brought a truck full of food from home!!! (this is not even half of it!)

IMG_1188.JPG

We cracked open the cantaloupe for dessert. I think I’m going to pack some snax for the movie tonight. We’re watching Avatar in IMAX 3D!!! Woot woot!

I’ve pretty much been living on kabocha for the past few days. SO GOOD, and dipped in hummus, oh man don’t even get me started.

Enjoy Avatar!! I didn’t really think I would like it, not really my type of movie, but is was amazing!

Ah, I love tennis! I don’t have anyone in PA to play with (plus, obviously, the weather is not tennis-weather up there right now), but maybe this spring I can find a partner. Such a fun game!

Wow everything in this post made me think of summer (the beautiful weather, the food) and i love it!
And girl, I feel ya on the yogurt withdrawal…There’s some WEEKS in school when I can’t get to the store, and have to do without yogurt for uncomfortably long periods of time- rather depressing! haha

I am feeling some yoga too. I missed my intended session this morning and my body is yelling at me for it. Ugh, I need to stretch too!!

My family always brings truck loads of food when we go away too. I think we bring more food than we have in our house. Not really sure how that works, but it just always seems that way.

Hope you like the movie. I hear it’s intense.

Everything looks so summery! I love seeing the sunshine, palm trees, and hearing about your fun tennis playing. Oh I love tennis and am so bad, but it is still so fun, and if I play someone who isn’t that great it is an awesome workout-run, run, run! :) My hubby was so bummed when we went to see avatar with our friends and it wasn’t in 3D-it kept me entertained which is saying A LOT for a sci-fi/fantasy!

Ugh it’s been so cold in Florida recently that going back to Jersey doesn’t even seen that bad! And I would totally be going through yogurt withdrawal too… I hope you get your hands on some soon!

That dinner does look very summery, and so do all of your palm tree photos. Looks are deceiving though, it is so cold in Florida lately even with the sun shining! Hope you enjoy Avatar, I saw it in 3d and loved it. :)

Wasn’t a huge fan of avatar because the story sucked balls, but a lot of people liked it for the cool special effects. Tennis would be nice right now if there wasn’t ice all of over the courts.

Everytime I see kabocha squash on a food blog I am wondering if it’s the same thing as a buttercup squash! I just tried to look it up and wikipedia says its similar but I guess not the exact same thing? I haven’t seen kabocha around here!

I love that you brought 5 kabochas, I would do the exact same thing! Your travel meals all look fantastic :)

LOL I know exactly what you mean by “smelling” the foods you crave. It happened to me recently with almond butter. Weird.
What temp do you roast your kabocha at, and for how long? I finally got my hands on one, but I don’t really know what to do with it now.

I have a hard time eating healthy while on vacay. That’s my biggest issue with healthy eating–I feel like I need to indulge while traveling. But your eating is very inspirational! I’m working on it. :) Looks like you’re having a great vacation!
