Ketchin’ Up

[I'm still swamped with recruitment duties but here's a quick ketch-up on my recent eats and musings.]

Okay, it’s happened 3 times now. I am about to end my workout and all of a sudden Alvin and the Chipmunks singing squealing Don’t Stop Belivin’ comes on Pandora!! I then have a sudden burst of energy and start rockin’ out! Has anyone heard this!? It’s sucha cute version of the song :) .

Which leads me to…

Workouts:

Thurs: 20 min. incline walking and 30 min. full body strength training. I went with some heeeavy arm weights and they are s-o-r-e now!! I’m gettin’ jacked :)

Fri: Ran 3 miles outside in the glorious 60 degree sunshine. It was PERFECT running weather. I had my shin sleeves on and it felt amazing. I think I may have gotten a little pink on my face from the sun. I’m totally gonna get an awkward shin sleeves tan line this spring. H-O-T-T!! I don’t care though–as long as I’m running, I’ll be happy!

***

Eats:

IMG_1639.JPG

Luna Chocolate Peppermint Stick: I don’t like minty things unless it’s toothpaste or gum so I’ve never tried this flavor Luna Bar before. BUT Dana told me they had a peppermint bark layer on them, which I LOVE!! So good. Tasted so much like the peppermint bark chocolates I got on vacay.

IMG_1640.JPG

Look at that beautimous peppermint bark coating!!

IMG_1642.JPG

The return of the dining hall salads. AND the return of the STOVE TOP place setting–one of the only lit areas in my apartment :( .

I was actually excited to get a salad from the dining hall since it had been over a month!

IMG_1600.JPG

In my Supah-Cool-TJ Maxx-On-Clearance-For-$2-Plate/Bowl:

  • Greens: Spring Mix and Romaine
  • Cucumber
  • Tofu
  • Red Peppers
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Eggplant
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • Red Onions
  • Olive Oil + Herb Dressing

IMG_1595.JPG

Kickin’ Kabocha with Ketchup. I have a huge bag of these in the fridge that I am slowly chipping away at. I hope they don’t go bad!

I’m loving this combo!!

IMG_1597.JPG

I told ya it was a stove!

IMG_1598.JPG

On campus purchases: Love this Pear Dark chocolate!! Has anyone seen this Mega Mystery gum?

IMG_1592.JPG

SO FUN!!! It tasted familiar but I couldn’t put my finger on it. The flavor reminded me of a certain candy I used to eat growing up. I’ll get back to you on it.

IMG_1603.JPG

Breakfast:

Cinna-raisin Ezekiel English Muffin w/ almond butter, banana, and walnuts. Something about these Ezekiel muffs–so thick and dense!!

IMG_1611.JPG

Purrrrrs.

IMG_1613.JPG

With my ‘A’ mug. I swear I get a little spring in my step every time I drink out of this lovely mug. I’m so proud of my initial :)

IMG_1610.JPG

***I’ve had some unpictured eats including fresh baked mandlebrot (I’ll explain why later, I promise), whole wheat crackers, and chocolate!

Before an exhausting night of recruitment duties, I ate leftover salad w/ tofu and a special sammie.

IMG_1628.JPG

Check it out!!! A Kabocha + Ketchup Sammie!!! Mmmmmmmmmm.

IMG_1619.JPG

Seriously. So good. Try it! You could do it with other squashies too. I put it in a panini maker but you could just warm up the squash before putting it on the bread. It reminded me of french fries and ketchup.

IMG_1630.JPG

Another Luna Bar! This was a new one I found. It has 8g of protein (the same as the choc peppermint stick flavor) so I’m not sure why it’s called ‘protein.’ It’s all about the marketing. It has 12g of protein. So much for my 20/20 vision. Oops!

IMG_1633.JPG

It reminded me of a Musketeers bar but not as soft on the inside.

IMG_1634.JPG

For a while I forgot it was ‘cookie dough’ flavor and I made a mental note to tell you it tasted just like cookie dough! I loved the texture. I have a knack for sticky/chewy bars though. The kind that stick to your teeth…

Hmmm I better be following through with my New Year’s Rezzie to FLOSS if I keep eating these!!!!

IMG_1638.JPG

Alrighty. My eye lids are shutting. I wanted to get these photos off my camera before I got too far behind.

I’m envious of your school’s salad bar! Mine has only a few edible things and only iceberg lettuce. Boooo

And what is a mandlebrot?! Can’t wait for the explanation on that : )

Can’t wait to try these Peppermint Lunas.

As for the Chipmunks… I ran into a couple of them last night when going to see Avatar :) Pleasant pre-movie surprise.

Gotta love a super deal on a cool plate! Helps make any meal better right ;-) I am so jealous of the kabocha. I can’t find it here at all (or freaking pumpkin) and I got blogger buddies talking about and posting about it. It’s cruel I tell you.

You’re right, I feel like they come out with a new Luna or Clif bar every other week.. and most are pretty darn tasty. Maybe they’re hiring for a taste tester position :p

First, jealous of your squash. I’ve been craving kabocha like crazy lately. Second, mystery gum?? How cool!! I’m not a fan of Stride, but I may have to pick this up if I see it.

Ooh that cookie dough Luna looks like a candy bar! I used to eat those Luna bars aaaallll the time during my first few years of college so I haven’t had one in years, but I heard that they changed up the recipe or something so they taste better now. I love when a good song comes on and I want to keep going when working out! Oh and I’m jealous of your 60 degree weather. We got really excited because it hit 32!

How do you make your kabocha? Do you cut it first then roast it? put anything on it? I’m always curious as to how people cook/eat kabocha. I’ve only had it once!

Hi Allie!!! This is a few days late, but I’m loving the haircut! Hairstylists always say they trim an inch and you look down…and then there goes 3. haaha It’s all for the best though, your hair looks bouncy and shiny. :) CCUUUUTE!

Flossing is a great new years resolution. You’re so right…Luna bars are definitely sweet…flossing is the perfection solution to black gunk stuck between teeth. :) hehehe

I don’t think I have ever seen either of those Luna Bars but they sound amazing. I love the Oatmeal Raisin because it reminds me of an iced oatmeal cookie.

Glad you are having a great start back at school. The sun is shining, your food looks amazing, and your positive attitude is enough to make anyone happy.

Love you girl!

I’ve tried Luna Bars before, but I get sick of their protein-like taste very quickly… though peppermint bark and cookie dough do sound like awesome flavors. :D I’ve seen that pear dark chocolate around, but not the mystery gum! Must get my hands on that ASAP :) Oh, and you can give your leftover kabocha to meee! … On second thought, I still have sweet potatoes and a spaghetti squash to use up…

Have a lovely Sunday!!!
