Hello, my name is Allie and I have a baking problem.

I had the apartment to myself last night so what did I do? BAKE! At 12 midnight!! Usually when I get random late night urges to bake, I try and talk myself out of them because baking always takes forever and I always have to eat what I bake no. matter. what.

Well, the urge to bake was especially strong last night and could not be ignored. So I ended up eating baked goods until the wee hours of the morning. Think 1:30 AM…whupsies.

***

Here’s how it all started:

I was in need of some sweet last night so I pulled out my black bean brownies and ate them with graham crackers, whipped cream, and almond butter.

IMG_3135.JPG IMG_3137.JPG

Which led me to come up with a recipe for Chick Pea Blondies! I got my inspiration from a couple recipes for ingredients but a lot of it was just what I felt like adding at the time.

IMG_3146.JPG

I didn’t know what to expect when they went into the oven…..BUT they came out great!! Remember when I made the black bean brownies last week and wasn’t too happy about how they turned out? Well, I made some major changes to the recipe and voila!

IMG_3148.JPG

AND since the oven was already warmed up, I thought I’d continue baking….

Look familiar?

IMG_3161.JPG

I made a huge batch of Pumpkin Coconut Pecan Granola since my last batch was eaten up by my classmates last week.

Along with baking comes eating…

I wasn’t feeling so great going to sleep with a belly full of carbs :( . I ate LOTSA granola!! It didn’t help that I woke up and resumed chomping on my baked goods. I was photographing them and well, a nibble here and a nibble there turned into a full-on breakfast.

This is a reenactment :) ….I probably ate more granola than what’s shown!

IMG_3166.JPG

Dearest Granola,

Why are you so very very very addicting?

Love,

Allie

I decided it would be best to put my granola-fuel to good use by hitting the gym. I know I declared today a rest day but I was feeling energetic so I decided to push my rest day back to tomorrow. Plus, today I had time, tomorrow I will not.

Granola fuels the body, alright!!! I had great workout–60 min. on the elliptical and 15 min. incline walking on the treadmill–and I didn’t feel an ounce of lethargy. Wahoo! Go granola!

***

I went directly to class where I ate a Chocolate Raspberry Luna Bar and a pear. Another reenactment.

IMG_3172.JPG

For dinner I whipped up some Gyoza Tofu to pump up my salad bar salad.

IMG_3180.JPG

IMG_3178.JPG

I had a sandwich round as well and used it to make a mini sandwich.

IMG_3182.JPG

I’ve already nibbled on some more granola and 1/2 of a chick pea blondie for dessert :) . Not only do I have a baking problem, I have a eating-baked-goods problem too! I wish I had people to bake for. Not only would that give me a reason to bake, I wouldn’t have loads of baked goods to eat all by myself. I guess that’s the life goal, huh?

I’ve got oboe students to teach tonight and then I’ve gotta write my 1000 word article on the “Pie Lady.”

AND of course, I’m gonna write up the recipe for Chick Pea Blondies. I hope to post it tomorrow morning/early afternoon so check back then, okie doke?!

I am loving all these beany-baked goods. You are a genius, my friend.
See you soon:)

That is exactly why I don’t bake too often. Even when I bring them to the office (all guys), I end up “trying bites” the night before and the next day when I walk by them a ton. The granola looks so good though!

Girl, you can bake for me ANYTIME your heart desires to bake for someone! :) And I will cook for you….sound good? I think it sounds like a perfect plan! :) You have no idea how I long over some of your baked goods. Everything you bake always looks incredible!!! It’s not a problem for you, but rather for me, because I am the one behind the screen who can only drool over them all while you get to enjoy the efforts of your baking gifts! ;)

Hope your day was wonderful Allie.

Allie! Too bad we weren’t ever roomies/even went to the same college! How much fun I would have baking with you in the wee hours! Joe was begging for some Joe Joe’s which we don’t have, so I’m making the almond butter blondies you made! I can’t wait to see how they turn out!

I’ll be interested to see that recipe :)

And I too love when I can bake for people. Baking and desserts are the only things I can cook well and I don’t want to do it too often if its just me and the hubs eating them.

Girl I am EXACTLY the same way with baking/ eating my baked goods. I love love love baking, but I end up eating wayyy too many servings of what I bake, with a nibble here and there. I love being at home though, because then I get to bake for my younger brother and all his hungry teenage friends. You would be shocked at how quickly they disappear then!

I neeeed to make that granola, and can not wait to see the chickpea blondie recipe!!

Girl, I am just getting caught up on your life!

Your post-v-day breakfast might just be the cutest thing ever. And I don’t care what you had to do to make it pink haha.
And I’m still living vicariously through you when it comes to that Culinary Cultures class. It sounds so freakin’ awesome.

And you can bake for me anytimeeee!

Those blondies look fantastic! I love to bake too, but don’t have enough people in the house to feed the goodies too. I MUST try (or eat all of) my baked goods too of course. So, I have to refrain!

Hey girl. I am totally in BA as well. haha Especially today! I baked 4 batches of graham crackers, all different variations and they’re not perfect yet! I love baking but always have a hard time not overindulging in dough and freshly baked warm things that come out of the oven. The graham crackers were vegan so I really had no self control b/c I didn’t have to worry about eggs making me sick [although I don't really hold back when my recipes use eggs, lol]. Anyway, check out my post tomorrow to see all the craziness with the graham cracks! ;) Cute post!!!!!!!!!

There could many worse things to be addicted too =] You’re super cute. When I get an urge to bake, I must do it to. Like tonight, I just whipped up a batch of choco chippers…I’ve never been a night owl though, so I can’t say I’ve done any midnight baking =]

I get midnight cravings a lot! Like tonight, I craved a bowl of cereal after dinner. Knew I shouldn’t have eaten it. But, did anyway. Now, I am not feeling so hot. Note to self: don’t eat after dinner unless you are really truly hungry!

I am trying that granola soon. Gonna bookmark it right now. And, those chickpea blondies when you post the recipe! :)

Oh, and you can always send me some of your baked goods. ;)

As of today I only have a tini-tiny bit of granola left in my bag :( …just enough for one more snack-session…I’m going to cry, it really is the PERFECT food but SO addicting. Your granola looks fantastic I’ll definitely be making it and SOON! I also sympathize with having no one to cook for. Granted, no one understands my obsession with cooking things and they all opt for frozen dinners (ick). At least I’m giving myself a treat though, right?

Sorry to hear your baking woes, but at least your kitchen ventures were successful! I, too, get the urge to bake sometimes, I suppose it is our inner domestic 1950s housewives. Over the snowpocalypse my sister and I made a TON of brownies and cookies, some of which we took to a superbowl game, and others were intended for gifts. Only they never reached their intended recipients due to the snow. Ugh, having that many baked goods around the house was not cool, as fun as it was to bake them and eat them for a little bit. Maybe pawn them off of classmates or a professor who is particularly gracious?
