A Check On My Bucket List

Here’s to my last week as a 21 year old!

I’ve only heard fabulous things about Guglhupf Bakery, Patisserie, and Cafe and I finally finally FINALLY got a chance to go last night. It’s been on my bucket list for ages.

I created a bucket list of things to accomplish before I graduate….98% of the list is food-related.Of course.

It is such a cool looking place! I wish my house looked like this :) .

The group:

I met some bloggers, old and new! Clockwise ’round the table: Kelly, Jessica, Me, Caroline, Seth, Margaret, and Diana.

I started with a slice of black pepper parmesan bread and a lil’ pat of whipped buttah. The restaurant was a little dark so I used the candle for some lighting :) .

And then I used the flash….

I ordered the Wild Mushroom Salad w/ frisee, grilled red onion, hazelnuts, shaved mona cheese and a local honey-apricot vinaigrette

I could not stop raving about the hazelnuts. I swear I tasted Nutella when I was crunching on ‘em. I need to get a bag of hazelnuts for snacking and baking. Perhaps it’ll replace my beloved pecans as the new nut of choice? Hmmm…

I got a side of brussels sprouts, which the waiter raved about. The leaves were peeled off, sauteed in olive oil and butter. They were lovely although I still prefer my brussels in halves.

I didn’t get dessert but Jessica did and it was too pretty not to take a photo. She got a chocolate torte with marshmallows and kumquats.

Jessica also baked us Energy Bars in honor of my birthday coming up. Thank, you Jessica!

Good times!! I need to go back for brunch and visit the bakery part of Guglhupf before I graduate.

I need to add some food related items to my bucket list. That sounds lovely, and the lamps are gorgeous. I really like the idea of chocolate and kumquat together. Mmmmm. Might have to experiment.

Have a good week!

Congrats on your last week at 21. 22 is not too bad although it was the first birthday I was not really excited to be getting a year older.

haha okay in your previous post–that’s really cool that they use vodka to make the wedding cakes look shiny, i had no idea!

Yay for your birthday being so close! Except, wasn’t being 21 kind of great?? I’m sure life gets better from here though ;)

What a great dinner! I need a bucket list ASAP!

I also had a college bucket list! Also mostly food related! Actually the guy I dated in the fall turned out to be a skeaze but it was nice having someone to go to all those places with. I made a lot more progress than I would have made alone! While I don’t recommend a skeazy guy, I do recommend having someone to tackle your bucket list with. It’s a culinary adventure!
