At Least I Had Chocolate

I was at the gym until 11:15 PM last night watching the Duke vs. Maryland basketball game. This was me while working out:

“eeeeeeeeeeek”

“come on come on come on”

“gahhhhhh”

“get it get it get it get it get it”

“YESSSSSSS!”

“WHAT THE @$%!#$%?!?!?”

And then….

Picture 21.png

This was a big game for both teams. Had we won, we would’ve secured the top spot in the ACC. Unfortunately we lost, so now we share the spot….with THEM.  UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH x500000!!

After 60 min. on the elliptical, I needed to either leave or eat something and I couldn’t leave. I couldn’t miss a single second of the game….are you kidding? So I got these fruit snax from the vending machine and walked on the treadmill for the rest of the time. They worked like a charm.

Silly, Kellogs, you spelled SNAX wrong!

If you haven’t noticed, our basketball team is the only thing at this school that I care about and have any positive feelings towards. Truth.

Back trackin’…

Breakfast:

Kefir Yogurt Fondue!! I made this a couple months ago and recently remembered just how much I loved it.

IMG_3845.JPG

I’m like a child and I like things in bite-sized pieces. Dipping in the kefir + yogurt is ze best part!

IMG_3855.JPG

Strawberries

IMG_3850.JPG

Kumquats (I’m still working on this box!!):

IMG_3848.JPG

1/2 TJ’s Carrot Ginger Muffin

IMG_3851.JPG

Microwaved pear chunks:

The STAR of the show:

IMG_3856.JPG

With cinnamon spice coffee. It looks like I got my fruit servings in, huh?

IMG_3843.JPG

Snax:

Repeat photo but same dealio

IMG_3608.JPG

Chocolate covered expresso beans. I polished off these 2 bags in 2 days!

IMG_3886.JPG IMG_3885.JPG

I had an early dinner because I had to teach and I didn’t want to have a full stomach for my late-night workout:

IMG_3862.JPG

Salad w/ carrot stix, artichoke hearts and cottage cheese:

IMG_3867.JPG

IMG_3869.JPG

Ezekiel Eng Muff w/ almond butter and banana as well as a handful of almonds.

IMG_3870.JPG

IMG_3864.JPG

More chocolate!!! (It doesn’t end there :) )

IMG_3926.JPG

***

Post basketball workout I made a green protein shake:

  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 packet protein powder

IMG_3890.JPG

Matches my sheets :) .

I also had some pumpkin ice cream and a Chocolate Heart Thrive w/ pecans. Gotta get those carbs in!!

IMG_3882.JPG

IMG_3883.JPG

More Chocolate. At least I had chocolate to comfort my dying soul!

Ferrero Rocher.

IMG_3898.JPG

I grew up fearing these because they had nuts and I was allergic. Finally, when I discovered I could eat hazelnuts, I couldn’t wait to try the gold foil chocolates my brother and daddy-o enjoyed so much while I sat on the sidelines!

I was a lil hungry going to bed but I wasn’t about to eat any more at 2 AM! It just made waking up for breakfast that much easier.

I LOVE YOUR DIPPING BREAKFAST BOWL! That’s the best idea I’ve seen in an age – Allie, you’re a creative genius! And also slightly mad at being at the gym that late/being passionate about basketball…no-one in England understands basketball Id on’t think!!
I love your way of eating though, it always looks so fresh and happy!!

Why do you dislike Duke so much? Chocolate is my savior too. I eat about that amount [everyday]!

My baby bro goes to Maryland so I was watching last night too! I knew you were not going to be happy with the outcome :(

I need to find pumpkin ice cream. I love all things pumpkin, and I’m sure that won’t disappoint.

Good luck with the last few days and have fun on break lady lay!!

I didn’t get to watch the game, but I heard it was intense!!

I haven’t had kumquats in ages! I’m guessing you eat the skin? Right?

I feel you on the college basketball! I am a huge Memphis basketball fan! Go Tigers!! Wish they were better this year but that’s a LONG story about Coach Cal! Haha but rumor is we have the #1 recruiting class for next year :)

Hey hey hey! “Them” is my alma mater…Maryland! ;-) I am a huge terps fan, and last night was momentous for our team! In all seriousness though, Duke has a great basketball team every year, and it’s nice to get a little shake-up every now and then for some drama and excitement, no?

Awww such a bummer about the game. But I think the more rational question here is WHY IN THE WORLD WERE YOU AT THE GYM SO LATE?!?! Okay, I guess I have no room to talk because I am in the gym at 4am so it’s kind of the same thing. Man, us weirdos are the ones workout out at those ungodly hours of the day! ;)

Glad you had so much chocolate to sooth your heart. :)

Love ya Allie!

Those cumquats look so cute! What’s the taste like? And those muffins…another reason I want a TJ’s here in Europe!

Ohh no Allie, I do know how much you LOVE Duke basketball and i’m sorry you have to share the winning spot, but hey, it’s good karma right?? :)

I am definitely like a little kid too when it comes to eating foood!! Little pieces rock!!!

Can you eat the rind of a kumquat, like the whole thing? It looks like an orange, but I wasn’t sure!

That game was a bit painful to watch. If NCSU can’t get into playoffs, then I really would just want ANY school from North Carolina to get into it.

How do you store your TJs muffins? I stopped buying them because sometimes they came moldy and when they didn’t, they would only take 24 hours to start growing fuzzy. :(

Amanda L.–

I tried to email you but it wouldn’t go through. I hope you get this response!

To be completely honest I can finish those muffins in 2 days so that never happens to me :) But I do find that they get stale quickly. The containers that they come in aren’t exactly sealed–ya know?

This time I froze 2 of them (so I couldn’t devour them all) and they warm up in the microwave and/or defrost really well!

Those fruit snacks were a staple of my childhood!! Haha seriously – they sold them at church. I usually went for strawberry or cherry though. I still remember how those taste!

I was having a chocolate moment to the max tonight. After eating the “last bit” of mint chocolate chip and mint chocolate cookie ice cream’s (yes I do have two varities of mint ice cream) I decided my mint didn’t have enough chocolate and dove into my Kopali Dark Chocolate Covered Bananas and Godiva Dark Chocolate Almonds…with dried mango so I didn’t have chocolate over load. OY haha. I’m going to NYC with the family over break to see some of the Big East games!! So excited Syracuse is my home team (don’t hate!). Have fun at home and HAPPY ALMOST BDAY!

The fondue looks awesome! Random thought, but did you ever finish reading the book Intuitive Eating? I recently purchased it on amazon and was curious as to what you thought!

Ferrero Rocher are DELICIOUS! I have a tax free box at home and try to eat them as slow as possible, but find myself always having 2-4 at the same time. Uuups. I have choco chai tea at home and they go wonderfully together :)

Sometimes, you just really need chocolate!

hahah Allie I love how into the game you are. Can you believe I never ate a Ferrero chocolate until this Christmas?! The fam I nanny for kept a big bowl of chocolates out and these were in them. I like all the different textures in there :) I had so much energy at the gym today and I thought of you-no elliptical though, my heart was set on the treadmill. I’m seeing Joe’s chiropractor who has seriously healed my hubby of so much, and he is a marathoner, so I’m really hoping he can help me with my granny knees and shins. I’ll let you know of what I learn along the way!
