Nothing Dodgy Under The Radar

I’ve been making quite a dent in the snax that my brother brought back from London, most of which have gone under the radar. I haven’t been photographing them because they’ve been jumping into my mouth!! A cookie here or a couple chocolate hazelnuts there. You understand, right? Well, today I finally did some documenting, albeit a little late each time…you’ll see why…

For a pre-workout snack, I had 1/2 of this 9 Bar…Pumpkin Bar (I ate the other 1/2 yesterday, under the radar).

IMG_6326.JPG

I had about twice the size of this nugget  pre-workout (I ate a little too quickly for the camera to catch up with me :) ).

IMG_6328.JPG

This bar was seedy, nutty, and crunchy…yet chewy overall. It was chewy like a Larabar but the seeds made it quite crunchy at the same time. So good. I hope my brother brings home more of these next time (wink wink).

P.S. I love how some UK snax have % listed for their ingredients!

IMG_6339.JPG

I also had some Yogurt Coated Hazelnuts and Milk Chocolate Cinnamon Dusted Hazelnuts.

IMG_6330.JPG

I’ve been munching on these all week at random times throughout the day, including this morning! These are unbelievably good. Anything covered in yogurt/chocolate is amazing but the addition of hazelnuts takes it to a whole new level.

I think hazelnuts are becoming my new favorite nut!

Workout: 60 min. on the Octane Fitness machine (running elliptical). The moving handlebars on that machine annoy me because they get in the way of my reading material. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I actually miss the elliptical (gasp!). The mini gym only has Octanes and Treadmills, however, and going there vs. the main gym saves me 30-40 min.

Post workout:

Millet bread with Greek yogurt, Galaxy Granola, and Dried Cranberries.

IMG_6366.JPG

I put the Galaxy Granola in my kitchen cabinet yesterday (rather than in my room) and I haven’t touched it until now! It’s remarkable how simply NOT being in the same room as a snack can reduce mindless eating. It helped that I had AllieBars to munch on instead :) .

IMG_6367.JPG

Green smoothie that made me brrrrrr cold:

  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1 scoop Green Superfood
  • 1 cup spinach

IMG_6373.JPG

IMG_6376.JPG

1/2 orange

IMG_6372.JPG

IMG_6362.JPG

I had class and then a meeting immediately afterwards so I packed some…

Snackities:

Mini peppers and an Eat Natural Bar (another London snack):

IMG_6377.JPG

I ate these bars quite often when I was studying in London–they are so YURRMY!!

IMG_6380.JPG

‘Nothing Dodgy.’ My flatmates and I would crack up whenever we heard the word ‘dodgy.’ It’s a funny word especially when said in a British accent. I think the equivalent in American English would be ’sketchy’??

See? Nothing ‘dodgy’ in the ingredients….

IMG_6381.JPG

Of course I took a few bites before I got the camera out :) . Good snack choices, Bro! Thank you!

IMG_6386.JPG

I also shipped out 5 packages of heavy AllieBars today.

IMG_6387.JPG

Dinner was lightning fast!

IMG_6389.JPG

I made a bowl chock full of protein. 4 egg whites (microwaved) and topped with 1/2 a Amy’s Veggie Burger, avocado, cottage cheese, ketchup and spicy brown mustard. Just from eyeballing it, I think there was ~25g of protein in this bowl. Cha ching!

This may not look super appealing but it was crazy good. It was sort of like a deconstructed omelet, if you will.

IMG_6391.JPG

1/2 orange

IMG_6397.JPG

And a mocktail!

IMG_6398.JPG

I was sipping on this SoBe Lifewater when I got the brilliant idea to add a can of La Croix for some bubbly.

IMG_6399.JPG

Dessert: An AllieBar (and another half plus a spoonful Sunflower Seed Butter under the radar). I had a couple extra from my monster batch.

IMG_6321.JPG

I’m racing off to teach now and then I’ve got a 1000 word restaurant review to write for my Culinary Cultures class. I anticipate another snackity later tonight. It’ll be under the radar though!

Hehe I love it!! For ONCE, foods that I know on a US blog! I currently have Eat Natural bars in my cabinet (but seriously, you should try Nakd/Trek bars – they blow Eat Natural out of the water!), and I’ve got a sampling order of 9Bars heading my way as I type…ehehehe!!
Have a good day :D

Don’t keep these wonderful snacks under the radar! I love seeing them because they always make me hungry! :)

The British Bars all sound great and I bet they just taste better just because they are from England. LoL, I love England food! :) ( I use to live there for a summer!)

Wow, you sure do have quite a busy night. Take care and good luck!

I have tried a lot of Sobe 0 calorie flavors, but not that one! I’d love to find it somewhere..
Along with an Allie bar!

Your brother knows you way too well- what a perfect package!! I’d be all over those treats as well, though I think my brother would send me Pop Tarts and Snickers over European delicacies!!

I am SO JEALOUS of your Culinary Concoctions class…I can’t believe you get credits for baking up a storm! That would be reason enough to go to Duke :)

Hope you have a great Thursday!

And the similarities continue! My best friend (who is originally from England) always brings me back Eat Natural bars when she visits the UK! I haven’t tried that flavor yet though… the one I currently have is something with “sultanas” aka rasins… yumm!

I love under the radar snacking. My whole dinner was under the radar tonight, since the boy got home from his run and stormed into the kitchen!!! ha.

:D glad youre enjoying the snacks from London!
I went running today and thought of you. Let’s run together sometime? I think we are around the same pace (9:30 – 10:00 / mile?) and can do anything ~5 miles or less hahaha.

Good luck on your restaurant review!

Wow Eat Natural bars on an American blog!!! I love those bars they are so good. My favourite is Apricot and Macadamia nut – did your brother send you some of those??

Just curious:Do you eat the seeds of the mini peppers or take them out ahead of time?

Reply

25 Jess April 15, 2010 at 9:10 am

I eat a wee bit ‘under the radar’ as well. It would mostly be chocolate, something I gobble up so fast, I don’t photo, and almost forget I ate it, it dissapears so quickly!

Oh yeah, I’m also going to London in a few weeks and want to try to get some snax like your brother got you. Does he live in London and if so, do you know where he got them?

I can get those Eat Natural bars here. I should pick one up to try!

I’ve always wondered about that Octane machine. I’d like to try one just once to see if I like it!

SoBe Lifewater is SO GOOD!

I think I need to add dodgy to my daily vocab. :) Your bro definitely got you some good snacks! I picked up those mini peppers from Costco the other day-love ‘em and how they don’t have many seeds so it makes it much nicer to chop up/clean up!

32 Molly April 16, 2010 at 12:17 am

oh allie, your alliebar looks so good YUM! I want one like NOW!

So glad you are reminded of your exchange in London while munching on all those delicious looking items. I love that they have %ages as well. That is so cool!

Agreed about the munching mindless theory. You really do eat more if it is readily available to you.
