Adventures With Kat Lobes

The weather yesterday morning couldn’t have been more perfect for a run so I strapped on my gear (Garmin, shin sleeves, + shuffle) and headed to the trail in my backyard. I hadn’t run for 5 days and I hadn’t worked out in 2 days. All systems go!….right? Wrong.

I didn’t even make it 2 miles before calling it quits. I was wheezing and it felt like I was running in soft sand. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t zone out. I’m beginning to think I can only run long distances at school and on the WaDuke Trail. Humph.

So I came back and hopped on the elliptical for 30 minutes while reading an old issue of Runner’s World.

Post workout smoothie:

  • 5 strawberries
  • 1/2 scoop Alive! Shake
  • 1 scoop Green Superfood
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • Water & Ice

Living life on the edge right there…

Nothing in my kitchen was speaking to me. All I wanted was VEGGIES. So I hit up the salad bar at Whole Foods.

Edamame Wakame Salad and an Orange Cous Cous Salad:

IMG_7187.JPG

Beets, Red Onions and Jicama (!!!)

IMG_7188.JPG

Hearts of Palm, Peas, Cucumbers

IMG_7189.JPG

Tofu and Strawberries

IMG_7190.JPG

It was only a little over $6! Nice work, Al!

IMG_7191.JPG

Then it was pedicure time with my bestie, Kat Lobes!! Her actual name is Katherine but I call her Katrina Loba, Kat Lobes for short. :) Ohhh the joys of having ME as a friend….

IMG_7193.JPG

I would have taken a BEFORE photo of my feet but if would have caused permanent damage to your eyes. I get all these crazy calluses on my feet from running/working out and I hadn’t had a pedicure since I studied abroad in Mexico (2 years ago!). There was a lot of scraping. A LOT.

Massage chair!!

IMG_7192.JPG

Ta da! Behold my pudgy feet. I may or may not have the chubbiest feet in the world.

IMG_7195.JPG

I snacked on an AllieBar….minus the sticking together part!!

IMG_6637.JPG

Then we headed to the mall for some window shopping. I didn’t buy a single thing. Having to pack always makes me realize how much stuff I have and how much I do NOT need. Plus, I gotta save up for my DSLR cam cam (hopefully soon!).

We did stop for some tart frozen yogurt at a self-serve location, Fruity Yogurt!! I have been waiting to visit a self serve shop for so long now.

IMG_7198.JPG

They had oodles of flavahs.

IMG_7199.JPG

IMG_7200.JPG

IMG_7201.JPG

IMG_7202.JPG

I got tart, taro and pineapple as well as fruit and granola as toppings. I wasn’t too hungry so I got a small portion.

IMG_7206.JPG

BUT the taro was so so so buttery (??) that I went back for a second round :) . I swear it tasted like Buttered Popcorn Jelly Belly jelly beans (one of my faves next to Juicy Pear!).

I snacked on some Wasabi Peas back at the house of Kat Lobes.

IMG_7208.JPG

On my way home I stopped at Marshalls and found LONDON SNAX there!! I got 2 Eat Natural Bars and ate one on the drive home.

IMG_7211.JPG

No ‘nothing dodgy’ here in the US, instead it’s ‘nothing else’…. LAME!

IMG_7212.JPG

I stopped at WFs to pick up some millet bread, which was $1 cheaper than down in Durham. Cha ching!

IT’S BEEN FAR TOO LONG MY FRIEND.

IMG_7210.JPG

I had a slice of millet bread with a cup of Greek yogurt and 1 1/2 AllieBars worth of granola crumbles.

Plus about a handful of Cocoa Roast almonds.

IMG_7215.JPG

T’was an eventful and snacky day. I’m hoping to do some grocery shopping tomorrow so I can start fixing up some real meals.

Haha if you think your feet were bad, you should see mine…running has RUINED them, AND I’ve never had a pedicure :p
How mean of the Americans to take away the ‘dodgy’!! Poor Eat Natural :(

I have REALLY pudgey feet. Even when I lost weight, my feet stayed fat fat fat. :P (I tell myself it’s better-looking than skinny, veiny feet… right?) I can never fit into flats. My feet are wide, fat and flat. :( Also means I can’t really run… Mehs.

Hope you’re having a fun time with your best friend! (Hi there, Kat Lobes! :D )

Cute nailpolish :) and your salad had everything in it, I can’t believe it was only 6$!

I can’t believe your WF has jicama!!! Me = jealous! Looks like you had a great day :-)

you make your salad mix and WF look edible! I couldn’t photograph mine because I end up getting a touch of everything and it just looks like a big mess (but tastes so good)! :)

Getting a pedicure is the PERFECT treat…and whole foods, fro yo and Marshalls…you’ve got me jealous. I feel you on the shopping thing too, half the time I end up getting something food/cooking related over clothes anyways haha what can I say? I rather have a nice bowl than a cute top.

Pedicures with the best friend and fro yo sounds like the perfect day! Dang I’m jealous. We still don’t have a fro yo shop in our town! :(

That orange couscous salad looks so tasty!

A pedi! How relaxing. Makes me want to book one myself. You’re so lucky to have a WF close enough to run over for a great looking salad. ;)

SO MUCH to comment on in this post. 1) My runs have been sucking lately too. Hate when that happens, but at least the elliptical is always there!! 2) You are my hero for only spending $6 at the WF salad bar. My salads are usually in the $15 range, and look like they’re about the same size as yours? Weird. 3) My feet get absolutely disgusting from running. It’s callus city…the people at the nail place always make comments about how I should get pedicures more often. I will, as soon as I figure out how to plant myself a money tree. And my feet are so bony and veiny that my boyfriend calls them old person feet, so I’d take chubby feet any day! 4) I want some of that froyo. Enough said. 5) I bought millet yesterday and thought of YOU! Can’t wait to have it back in my life. Yummy.

Sorry for the novel of a comment :) Hope you have an amazing weekend!

pedicure, WF hot bar AND et natural bars… girl you had a great day. Sorry to hear about the alliebar fail, but you’ll get back to it. Mine have been falling apart lately too :( back to the kitchen!!

i love the nickname you gave your friend… i think your toes are perfectly shaped & not chubby at all, silly girl. Love the color you choose. For some reason the one time a year I do get a pedicure I always go with an obnoxiously bright color. I don’t know why. Don’t you always feel like the pedicurist is talking about your feet when you are getting it done? Where I go they speak Chinese and omgosh parinoia.

I lost two toe nails when I was training for a marathon so I have not had a pedicure in years. One time the lady told me to stop running because it was making me have ugly feet :)

I am craving a HUGE salad like nothing else so I pretty much hate you right now… haha kidding but seriously, it looks delicious!
Girl, you haven’t seen my feet. They are awful. Actually, I went out to dinner with the ladies in my family last night and we had a discussion about our feet and how ugly they were… half of my family has “flintstone feet” and the other half (me) have big feet with super long toes. Yikes..

Sounds like such a fun day! Mmm I love jicama-the salad looks really, really good. Allie-your feet are so not pudgy! You should see mine-they are like Flinstone feet and get huge when I’m hot. I love that light purple nail polish-was it OPI? Oh Marshalls…that store is so wonderful. I hadn’t gone in SO long, as in years and years, and I went there the other day and found the CUTEST grey peep toe heels for standing up in my friend’s wedding-she wants them in white for her! :) Hope you’re having a great weekend!

Hi Allie pie!!! I’m so sorry I haven’t commented in a little while, but it’s because they BLOCKED blogs at work so i can only read thru my google reader, but i can’t comment. :( Your blog is one that i’ve consistently tried to comment and been rejected…some people just dont learn huh? heheh

Well first off, CONGRATULATIONS on being done!!! So many people are super jealous of how early Duke gets out. Northwestern gets out late June, which sucks. hahah

Second of all, I have totally made failed granola bars that didn’t stick together too. I’m so glad you didn’t throw yours out!!! Phew…i would totally do what your momma did and eat ‘em crumbled. YUM. You should pour kefir over it and eat it like cereal. hahahah

Last but not least OMG OMG OMG taro fro yo is my favorite in the whole entire world!!!! *sniff* I miss it oh so much. Chicago doesn’t have enough asians to ever get taro inducted into our froyo joints. *sigh* I’m jealous my dear.

Nice toes! :)
The self serve froyo is fantastic! We need to get a shop like that!
Don’t ’sweat’ the poor run. 2 miles is still a nice run.

I would love to go for a pedicure but I hate my feet and wouldn’t like to subject them to others!! Your feet look fine, not chubby at all! Lovig your salad too, it looks so fresh.

I think pudgy feet is SO much cuter than long, scrawny toes, don’t you? ;-)
