3 inches (feels more like 5) chopped off! Six months of growth gone!

My hair is healthy again…and short (for me)! I’m enjoying feeling the ends slip through my fingers though–the best part of a hair cut if you ask me.

It looks just like my last hair cut, huh? I’ve been going to my hairdresser for over 6 years now and I pretty much get the exact same haircut every time. Somehow she cuts it just the way I like it!

***

Afterwards, I munched on some m&m’s (1/2 of each bag). You know, pre-dinner dessert.

I tried the coconut flavor last year when I found it at a random Walgreens in Hilton Head. The pretzel, however, was new to me. Both scrumpsh!

IMG_3265.JPG

I also got some self-serve frozen yogurt. It was nearing dinner time so I didn’t want to spoil my appetite. I just wanted a taste.

Taro. Green Tea. Original. The 3 best flavahs.

Then I was off to Sunflower Vegetarian Restaurant where I met up with Steph. It turns out I had met her already–albeit very briefly. Right after my graduation ceremony down at Duke, she came up to me and introduced herself as a blog reader (she was in the audience for someone else). I didn’t realize she was the same Steph that I had been talking to who lived here! Small world.

I forgot to get a photo with her then and last night as well. Boo. Blogger fail. I guess we’ll just have to get together again :) .

I got an order of the Inani Sushi (Marinated Tofu Skin): Stuffed with brown rice, sesame seeds, crispy bean curd, seacress, and shiso condiment (edamame soy beans on the side).

IMG_3272.JPG

Look at the presentation! They must have known I had my camera with me.

(notice the wasabi leaf?)

IMG_3274.JPG

I also ordered the Multicolored Salad: Strips of grilled veggie patty, veggie-bacon, jicama, tomato, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and almond slices over mixed greens.

I remember making a mental note to get the veggie patty the last time I was at Sunflower. Well, when I was reading their amazing menu, I noticed it was on a salad that included vegi-bacon AND jicama. How perfect.

IMG_3269.JPG

I’m not sure if they make the veggie patty themselves or what but I gotta find out the recipe or at least where I can buy it!!

IMG_3270.JPG

Steph got Orange Imagination: Soy protein marinated in orange juice, fresh orange slices, snow peas, Thai basil, garnished with pine nuts and steamed broccoli

IMG_3271.JPG

I had a great time yapping with Steph. Of course I sent her home with some AllieBars to sample :) .

For dessert (at home) I had some dried mango slices, watermelon and an AllieBar.

Have you ever been to a vegetarian restaurant? I’ve been to two: Butternut Squash in Chapel Hill and Sunflower several times…first, second, third, and fourth.

You’ve been to Hilton Head too? We spent every summer there when I was a kid and were there over Memorial day this year. Love it!

That is so funny that ya’ll had already met :) Meant to be friends, right?? Glad you had a good time, even though you forgot to snap a pic ;) dinner looks beautiful, I love the little leaf – wasabi is my fave, and even better when it’s pretty ;)

You look gorgeous, your hair must feel so much healthier! Fresh-cut hair is always nice to run your fingers through.

Enjoy your day!

First off, your hair looks great! Very cute. I definitely enjoy the feeling of freshly cut hair too. The “eats” you both ordered at Sunflower Vegetarian Restaurant look absolutely stunning and delicious. :) I wanted to also tell you that I made your carrot-quinoa-coconut muffins the other day with a few modifications, and my sister and I LOVE them! Thank you so much for the recipe! Have a great weekend, Allie!

Love our local vegetarian restaurant! I have one close by called High Noon. Went there the other day and had the veggie nachos and it was PERFECT.

First of all, I think Taro & Green Tea are also my fave fro-yo flaves…although if they have Lychee, that wins every time! Second, I always wanted to go to Sunflower when I lived outside of DC….now I’m even more sad I never made it. :(

your hair looks so pretty! OKAY maybe I should snip off a few inches now :) we can do it together!

That’s my favorite part of a haircut, too. xD I love it when my fingers meet silky strands instead of those frazzled, dead ends. Your hair is so pretty! It looks so thick and healthy. =)

I must try to find those coconut M&Ms. I have an obsession with coconut, as well as M&Ms, so I think I’d like them.

Glad your meet-up went well and was fun! :D

Hi Allie,

Nice haircut! Your Alliebars look yummy. Have you ever thought of selling them? I know you mentioned in your blog that you live in Northern VA. I don’t know if you ever travelled to GWU campus via Metro. There is a stall by the Metro stop that sells granola bars for $$$$$ and they don’t look good as yours!

Your hair looks great! I’m not very adventurous with my haircuts either. :P

Everything at that restaurant looks amazing. I wish there was a place like that near me.

Really cute haircut! It reminds me that I seriously need to get on the haircut bandwagon sometime soon. It’s been more than 6 months since my last cut, and it’s getting a bit out of control! But like you, I really like my hometown hairdresser, who knows exactly how I like it cut and dyed! I think I’m going to hold out one more month till I’m back home. Lol….till then, hair craziness will dominate.

Coconut M&M’s sound divine! I tried the pretzel ones a few days again and they were just mediocre.

The wasabi leaf is too cute! :-D

First the new pretzel m&m’s and now coconut? I have to try them (even though I don’t even like chocolate all that much!)

23 BroccoliHut July 9, 2010 at 10:35 pm

Pretzel M&Ms are kind of my newest obsession. I haven’t tried the coconut ones yet, but that could be dangerous.
I’ve been to several veg restaurants: Cafe Sunflower (Atlanta), Chicago Diner (Chicago), and BNS (Chapel Hill). All amazing!

YAY! Thesis! How on Earth did you switch over so fast? Was it easy/difficult/frustrating?! Looks great… and so does your hair!

I love inari (I haven’t heard inani before).

Happy Weekend, love!

Oh I love how that wasabi is formed, so cute!

I’ve seen those pretzel M&Ms – they sound amazing. I’ve never been to a purely vegetarian restaurant – my family has “hippie” prejudices against them. :( It’s also the reason why I can’t be fully pescetarian (family prejudices)

Your haircut looks good! But it made me want to see you go even shorter and get straight across bangs right above eye level…. AH!!

28 Meagan July 10, 2010 at 10:49 am

OMG! Pretzel M&Ms are to die for! I could probably eat three bags in one sitting! Lovin’ the new haircut! I really want to try that faux bacon, I think Morning Star makes something like that, must try some!

P.S. Happy ALMOST blog Anniversary!!!

Pretzel M and Ms???? Now, those I have to try!

I had to laugh at your getting the same haircut repeatedly because I do the same thing. But hey, if it works it works, right? haha

Allie, you are so cute!

I have wanted to try those M&M’s but I am afraid they will be addicting! :D

Your hair looks so good. I love that post haircut feeling, like you’re a new person for a day!
Thanks for sending them out so quick :) I can’t wait.
We just picked up some of those Inani at a local festival this afternoon! The leaf is so cool on that wasabi!
I don’t think I’ve ever eaten at a strictly vegetarian restaurant, although I have been looking into it since I live so close to SF and SJ. But the Indian place we always go to is strictly vegetarian :)

Nothing beats a good hair cut and I’m glad I’m not the only one that leaves it a little too long between cuts! The M&M flavours look interesting, we just have the peanut and chocolate M&M’s!!
