Man, you all are serious about winning these AllieBars! MY goodness. I wish I could make a batch for everyone but then I’d be in debt before even starting the business.
Speaking of which, thank you all for the supportive comments on my AllieBar biz endeavor. It’s not going to be easy, I might not even go through with it, but I at least owe it to myself to give it some serious consideration. I spent a good 5 hours today looking through the various regulations and Googling around for baking-out-of-your-home advice. I can call this ‘work’ right?
I understand that these regulations are necessary to ensure the safety of food products, but some of these are a bit ridiculous. For example…‘The injection of chemicals into an automatic dishwasher must occur downstream from a vacuum breaker or air gap to prevent possible back siphonage of the chemical into the water service line.’
Hm. Okay.

I was in the mood for some banana soft serve this morning. I decided to throw in some mango chunks, but because the mango wasn’t frozen, it didn’t turn out very soft serve-ish. Still delicious though!

Layered with Greek yogurt and mango chunks. Topped with a sprinkle of IKEA Muesli.

Somebody picked out all the raisins and banana chips in the Muesli, which is why it looks a bit plain.

Then I destroyed the rest of the mango….

…and then majorly flossed my chompers.

Later, I made a Sausage Egg MAK-Muffin.

I picked up some Gimme Lean veggie sausage the other day hoping it would taste similar to the veggie patty at Sunflower.

I’m not sure why I thought it would taste similar since the veggie patty at Sunflower wasn’t sausage-like at all. It made sense in my head at the time!!
Anyways, I formed a patty and put it on the pan while my egg was afryin’.

I added some ketchup and topped it with a sprinkle of shredded cheese (I wish we had cheese slices!). Served on a toasted Whole Wheat Cinnamon Raisin British Muffin.

Don’t fear the sweet ‘n’ salty combo, folks, for it is darn good. As for the Gimme Lean Sausage? Not bad for vegetarian meat!
Take that, Mickey D’s!

This afternoon, I had a big bowl of IKEA Muesli w/ almond milk, 1/2 a frozen banana and a hearty scoop of almond butter. I also munched on a bowl of my dad’s leftovers from Chipotle
.
Now I’m just twiddling my thumbs waiting for Top Chef DC to come on. I’ll probably go for a walk on the treadmill while I watch it seeing as how I’ve been pretty sedentary all day. Then a monster smoothie afterwards? I think so!
Blogday Giveaway open ’til midnight!

HAHA I hate it when the “good stuff” goes missing from my food …. although it’s usually me who steals it out
I think the Alliebar business is such a great idea, I hope it all works out, cause I’d totally buy some
You are an incredible cook/baking QUEEN!
Enjoy your night
Meg
I had to laugh at the muesili thing. It reminded me of when I was little and I would pick out all the marshmallows from Lucky Charms. I’m surprised my brother still talks to me considering how many times I pulled that, lol.
That McMuffin prototype looked DELICIOUS! I don’t really try vegetarian meat options much but I think I want to give that one a go..
I imagine the process for starting your own business out of your home has to be complicated. Especially when it deals with food. Just imagine what all of those restaurants have to go through with compliances.
Regardless of what you decide, I support you 10000%. I will definitely be one of your first customers!
The sweet and savory combo is banging! Especially in egg sammies. One of my favorites is egg, avocado, dijon and jam! Let’s see that on a dollar menu!
Girl, I am DYING for an AllieBar!!! Seriously!!!!
That sandwich looks delicious!!!
So glad you decided to further consider the AllieBar idea! It could very well become reality.
And I love egg sandwiches!
Love Top Chef! Your sandwich looks so delicious I am definitely going to create my own version for lunch sometime soon!
Love the addition of mango to the soft serve! I’ve been making banana soft serve (with PB for extra oomph!) almost every morning for breakfast since it’s too hot to consider almost anything else.
Hey! I’m def new to the blogworld, although I have been reading your blog for quite some time! I think that your Alliebar start-up has great potential, and I really hope that you are able to make it happen!
And I hear you on the sweet and salty combo. Just today, I spent a good 10 minutes trying to convince someone that sea-salt dark chocolate is one of the best things that money can buy. She said that the combination sounded weird, but she was finally convinced when I asked if she likes pretzels and chocolate (really, who doesn’t?). Win! Haha.
Haha, you sound like me–I always pick out all the good stuff from granola/muesli.
I used to love that veggie patty stuff! It kinda weirds me out that it’s in tube form, but it makes a great ingredient for veggie meatloaf.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm that smoothie looks amazing!!! I only think I’ve had one mango this whole summer! TERRIBLE!
p.s. we use the same flossy!
HELL NO THEY SURE DONT! wow you made my day girl!! this McAllieMuffin is FABULOUS! hehe <3
Those soysages are actually really tasty. I remember loving them before I had to give up soy. Yum!
Good luck with your business venture! Have you looked at the possibility of renting a kitchen? Then perhaps you could have multiple batches going with multiple ovens? Depending on whom you ask, that might be a more cost/time/sanity effective option.
Hah, I’m the same way about mangos. I love them, but I hate picking my teeth for the rest of the evening.
Lol I often pick all the dates out of my mum’s museli
it’s the best bit!!
That’s a dumb sounding rule…I bet they couldn’t even police half this stuff, so if you weren’t doing it, no-one would know…..
Some fo the really crazy stuff is probably so that there’s NO CHANCE of any loop holes. Or that it’d be impossible for anybody to have a remote chance of ever putting poison in their food. Like those “Do not use hair dryer while sleeping” warning labels.
Yay, that’s so exciting that you’re seriously considering the business! I really believe you can make it happen!
I would take your Mak-muffin over a McMuffin anyday!!
I agree with Anya! I’m glad you decided to consider it a bit more. I think you could go far
I looove picking out the “good bits” from my food then leaving the rest.
Wei-Wei
I LOVE mango! what a beautiful parfait– care to share? hehe
and you totally kicked Mickey D’s butt. youre a rock star.
hope you have a wdonerful day
Gotta LOVE mangos!
And egg sandwiches, haha
Wish you a lovely day, Allie!
Brazilian XOXO´s,
Gabriela
that looks waaay better than mcdonalds
Great little burger!
Love your pink placemat and I can relate to picking bits out of the museli – I tend to eat the dried fruit first when I’m snacky!!
mmmm…I love sweet and salty combos:-)cc
