Playing With Fire

I simply could not motivate myself to go to the gym today, despite the fact that it’s 6 seconds away via the condo elevator. I thought of every excuse to delay going down there. 15 min turned into 40 min….an hour…..2 hours…..3 hours…..!!

So I tweeted for help:

I cuddled in bed several times SO ready to take a cat nap. I was playing with fire, that’s for sure.

To delay my workout, I munched on some hearts of palm. I love it I love it I love it. We got these at Costco. They were far cheaper than the ones I got from TJ’s. Sorry, Teej. I still love you lots though.

I was playing with fire eating these straight outta the jar, pickle style!

My mom got home just in the nick of time and we went out to play tennis—saved from the elliptical! I usually don’t mind the elliptical but I just wasn’t in the mood today. We ended up playing for 2 sweaty hours! I was on fi-yah!

Check out my shirt!

…I have no idea where all that energy came from. Perhaps because I was cuddling in bed all day? Nah. That couldn’t possibly be it.

Don’t ask.

My uncle had dinner waiting for us when we got home. I guess he can be the umm…line cook? :) There can never be too many cooks in Peter’s Kitchen.

I attacked the salmon and broccoli.

Dessert:

I got impatient and settled for half a tub of Greek yogurt with some frozen banana slices instead. I guess I spent too long recipe planning.

My banana bread will have to wait ’til tomorrow. This girl is ready to cuddle in bed….with her book.

I was gonna bake yesterday for dessert… but spent so long thinking of what to make that I just ended up saying “screw this, I’m goin’ to bed”. And bed it was! :)

Wow, 2 hours of tennis! Definitely beats the eliptical any day!

I do that so often: I put off exercising and before I know it, 2 or 3 hours have passed and if I would have just and worker out, I’d be done already! I’ll work on my procrastination tomorrow…hahaha

Tennis totally beats the elliptical — what a great workout1

On days when I just CANNOT motivate myself to work out, I just assume it’s my body tell me I need to take a rest day. Tennis with your mom sounds like a really fun alternative to the gym!

And wow, can’t believe you eat hearts of palm plain! I’ve had them on salads, they are great, but never just by themselves :)

“Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it. You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it.”

I agree, some days I just procrastinate and procrastinate until there’s almost no time, then I just do it and grumble the whole way through. Sometimes I just am not feeling it :S

Ha, I’m the same with working out some days. My building has a gym on the 4th floor and I still find excuses not to go down there. The elevator ride just seems sssooo long, haha. That salmon dinner looks GOOD. You got a lot of good chefs in Peter’s Kitchen, huh? lol

I haven’t been baking as often as I usually do either. Your blog usually motivates me to, actually! Hopefully I’ll be seeing some banana bread for inspiration?

I don’t think I’ve ever tried hearts of palm. I’ve seen them around alot, though.

Looks like tennis was the perfect workout choice!

I always put off working out at my school gym because it’s such a long walk from my apartment! Tennis looks like a good alternative though! I love it when I’m all sweaty after a workout. :D

Yogurt with frozen banana slices is my favourite snack ever!

Glad you found the energy to workout. I gotta say, in this heat…froyo would definitely win out with me too!

I once had a really awesome vegetarian dish made out of hearts of palm–sounds strange, but it was fantastic!

I just bought that TJs greek yogurt. I’m still getting used to it. At first I was like OMG this is so sour, so I started using it in place of sour cream.
Then I tried the individual TJs greek yogurt with honey, stil a bit bitter but I just added some cinnamon and a ton of berries. Did you have to get used to it?

Although I was insanely jealous to see that you have my FAVORITE Greek yogurt sitting there on your table (oh TJs, what can’t you do well?)…I was happily amused to note that you and I have both been eating those (wonderfully priced, and super-sized!) hearts of palm from Costco. Cheers!
