Have you noticed a trend with my Chicago post titles thus far? I think I’m going to keep going with it :) .

If you missed them here they are:

Friday morning started with a power walk with my roomie, Meg, along the water. By the time we got up, the sun was out and about so it was a toasty walk. We walked 3.22 miles in a little less than an hour. It was nice to have a workout buddy.

Afterwards, I munched on 1/2 an AllieBar, part of my Raw Carrot Muffin, and a large half caf iced coffee.

IMG_5473.JPG

While getting ready, I broke into the 2nd bar I got at the airport. This was very similar to a Larabar, but it had the addition of seeds.

IMG_5344.JPG

It had my three favorite nuts and of course my beloved dates.

Then we were off to take some photos of the city.

The first stop was the Bean.

Here we got our photographers all in a row.

Clickety click click.

Can you spot me?

We stopped at Argo Tea (the same tea/coffee shop we went to the day before) for a light lunch. I got the Roasted Tomato Spinach Salad and an Iced Ginger Peach Tea.

IMG_5508.JPG

My stomach was still feeling a little quirky from the night before so I kept it light and simple. I munched on an AllieBar while walking as well.

More walking ‘n’ talking ‘n’ photographing ‘n’ SWEATING!!

The Trump Tower? My Chicagoan readers…confirm please!

IMG_5521.JPG

An architecture boat tour, which my roomies went on.

IMG_5526.JPG

IMG_5528.JPG

Then we were off to Trader Joe’s because most of the people in our group hadn’t ever been before. The horror!

IMG_5530.JPG

We also stopped by Vosges and sampled some gourmet chocolates.

IMG_5531.JPG

IMG_5533.JPG

IMG_5538.JPG

Guess which sample I chose?

IMG_5539.JPG

IMG_5541.JPG

I kept my Garmin on during our walk, which ended up being another 4 miles or so (Garmy shows the total for the day).

IMG_5545.JPG

I suddenly got very hungry when I got back to the room so I went to pick up my swag bag for some SNAX.

IMG_5546.JPG

So. many. goodies.

IMG_5548.JPG

IMG_5550.JPG

IMG_5551.JPG

IMG_5552.JPG

I immediately broke into the sesame honey almonds, Mary’s crackers and Quaker rice cakes (more carbs!). Thanks for saving my stomach, my dear swag bag.

IMG_5555.JPG

I was exhausted by this point but the night was far from over. We still had the HLS cocktail party to attend!! That’ll have to be it’s own post though! We’re in full conference mode today.

Can you imagine not living near a Trader Joe’s? I think I might die. Or actually, I do know what that’s like (year in Europe and time in Hawaii). I mean, Europe and Hawaii are lovely, but they would be even nicer with a Joe’s!

Yes, that is Trump Tower! I went on a boat tour there a few years ago (river and lake) and it was really cool!

Yes, that’s Trump Tower.

It was so so hot outside today in Chicago! You probably already know, but tomorrow is (and today was) the Chicago Air and Water Show from 11 AM to 4 PM (http://www.explorechicago.org/city/en/things_see_do/event_landing/special_events/mose/chicago_air___water.html). It is quite a unique show, so you should try to go if your schedule is not to busy.

Also here is a list of a few good restaurants you might want to try while in Chicago: “Great Taste Cafe” (http://greattastecafe.com/), “Frontera Grill” (http://www.yelp.com/biz/frontera-grill-chicago), “Earwax” (http://www.yelp.com/biz/earwax-cafe-chicago), “The Chicago Diner” (www.veggiediner.com), and well there are many more, but I hope those are helpful!

I LOVE reading all about everyone’s trips to Chi-town. As a native of Illinois, but in Texas now, it makes me so happy!
