You Can Call Me Goldilocks

I had a temporary freak-out yesterday when I updated my Thesis theme to the newest version. I didn’t save the old version correctly and some of my settings got lost. My blog went completely bazerk for several [heart-attacking] minutes–eeks!

I’ll admit that I usually have no clue what I’m doing when I work on my blog. I clench my teeth and hold my breath as I click around. Then I close my eyes and hope my blog doesn’t explode. I’m all about trial and error. After all, it’s worked for the most part thus far.

I’m taking advantage of my unemployed status to work on my blog. Maybe someday, LLE can be my job. Wouldn’t that be fun? Sadly, there is still a looong way to go before that is even a remote possibility :) .

New…

Rotating Photos: Luckily, most of the settings were still in tact. I just had to reload the photos in my rotating multimedia box on the right hand side. In doing so, I added some new photos to the mix. Do you like them?

Font: The new Thesis theme has s’more fun fonts now so I picked out a new font for my titles, posts and sidebars. They make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

To come…

A Header Image: They finally came up with an easier way to add in a header image. I wanted to put one in decades ago but figuring out the CSS code (jibber jabber) gave me serious migraines.

Finally my blog won’t look so naked up top! I just have to figure out what I want it to look like. I may or may not have spent hours last night brainstorming header image ideas. Feel free to make suggestions!

New pages: I’m in the process of writing some new pages. I’ll let you know when they’re up.

Before my workout last night, I ate this monster sweet bread.

IMG_6348.JPG

It was fabulous–oh so sweet and oh so so buttery. It melted in my mouth like a Krispy Kreme donut. I would rather not know the ingredients in this hunk o’ deliciousness :) .

I started with half but when my blog freaked out, I went ahead and ate the other half. Inside was a sweet paste made with adzuki beans.

I woke up this morning to cloudy skies and 67* temps. Dare I say it felt a bit chilly? For a second, I could hear leaves crackling and children chatting on their way to school. I could smell pumpkin cider and baked apple pie. Can you believe we are only a week away from September!?

Okay okay, who am I kidding? I woke up far too late to hear any children chatting on their way to school.

The point is, the weather was perfect for running. While I had exercised the night before, I had to at least venture outdoors. Even if I didn’t have the energy to run, I could squeeze in a relaxing walk. I just couldn’t pass this up….

Screen shot 2010-08-24 at 1.36.50 PM.png

I ran my new favorite running loop: 3.5 miles with 0.5 miles of walking interspersed. While the loop wasn’t as fun the 2nd time around, it was still enjoyable. I did notice some more hills this time. Perhaps my legs were tired from the night before…?

I ran with my shin sleeves again, finally.

IMG_6392.JPG

I thought I wouldn’t sweat given the temperature….

IMG_6393.JPG

….silly me. It was a nice thought though.

(I’m almost positive that shirt belongs to my dad. No wonder it felt so loose. Oops. Sorry, Pops!)

I did some strength training afterwards to round out my workout. Yeah, that’s Paula Deen’s house on the elliptical TV. I mean, who doesn’t watch Food Network while working out?

***

Post workout, I had a smoothie using a (new to me) protein powder that I got from TJ’s.

IMG_6414.JPG

French Vanilla Designer Whey.

IMG_6337.JPG IMG_6338.JPG

I usually go for pea/rice protein powders (i.e. Alive! Shake) rather than whey/soy but well…you’ll see why soon enough :) .

IMG_6406.JPG

In the mix:

  • 1/2 scoop protein powder
  • 1/3 cup plain yogurt
  • Strawberries + banana
  • 1/2 cup spinach
  • 1 packet Amazing Grass Lemon Lime Energy

It tasted like strawberry lemonade!!!

This packet contains all sorts of fun stuff including greens (wheat grass, barley grass, spirulina, etc), Antioxidants (acai berry, maca root, carrot, beets, etc), flax seed, probiotics, and for the energy–yerba mate extract and matcha green tea.

The lemon lime flavor was lovely. Not too tart, not too acidic, just right. I want more!

IMG_6400.JPG

Extra extra….drink it all up!

IMG_6415.JPG

I also had some oatmeal! I was actually craving oatmeal. Craziness.

Perhaps my love for oatmeal really is coming back. I’m turning into Goldilocks!

IMG_6421.jpg

I added some cinnamon, honey, egg whites and a splash of water.

IMG_6422.JPG

I got a carton of egg whites from TJ’s yesterday. I almost always eat oatmeal with egg whites mixed in. It makes the consistency much more creamy and thick. Plus, it provides a little boost in the protein department.

Call me crazy, but I like to eat oatmeal plain with no toppings.

Allie (or Goldilocks), you’re crazy.

In other news, I think we can safely conclude I am taking my calcium supplements.

IMG_6424.JPG

Thanks to those who chimed in on the calcium overdose question. Don’t worry, I’m not eating more than 3 chocolates per day.

IMG_6423.JPG

Okay, maybe I had 4 one day but I swear it was only one day! I had just finished my [regular] chocolate stash and my chocolate cravings were in full force.

***

Man oh man, I’ve been quite a chatterbox lately. I promise, my next post will be less talk and more food.

Tell me: What are you most looking forward to this Fall?

I’m getting excited for pumpkin and muffins!!

Love the new design! I use Thesis too, and I think it is one of the best themes around. :)

I’m clueless with my blog as well. My next step is to find someone to design a header, but I feel like all the good designers have super-long waits!! Booo. Your blog is looking great though- love the green!

I’ve been the same way with those Adora disks….actually, I finished them yesterday, so you’ve been eating them slower than me. I have a chocolate problem :)

Love doing blog headers! I do a lot of graphic design with my job, so you’d hope I would like working with graphics… I think your Alliebars need to be featured at least once in your header. I can picture the wrapped stack of bars right now! ;-)

Feel free to chatter away! I just wanted to say that you somehow have the cutest smile (and I mean that in the most non-creepy way possible) that makes you look downright thrilled to be doing whatever you’re doing, so that pic of you in workout clothes was very amusing to me. I generally look annoyed or pissed when I’m working out! lol.

I love Fall — the colors, the sweaters, the crisp air, all of it.

You take your dad’s shirts — I used to somehow take my dad’s SOCKS — when I lived at home we had the same Hanes socks, his were just larger than mine. Somehow I didn’t notice at first that the heels (which were grey) were up around my ankle?! I figured it out eventually :)

I like the new fonts and all that, and I look forward to your header image. I figured you’d just use Andy Roddick’s face? Just a suggestion.

I’m actually thrilled Sep is only a week away. I’m ready for fall AND the 30 Days of Self Love challenge starting on my blog then. :D Have you seen it yet? I think you have but here’s a link just in case – http://www.faithfitnessfun.com/30-days-of-self-love/

I can’t wait to see the new header. And I like all the other changes. I kind of want a new header too. And I want FFF to be my job one day too. That would be so awesome.

Haha, I am the same way when it comes to doing anything on my blog. That is why I usually hire people to do it for me who know what they are doing. I just imagine I would destroy the entire thing if I attempted to do any significant changes.

No wonder you are craving oatmeal again. It’s the most fantastic thing, especially after a run. Great job by the way!! ;)

I can’t wait for soup. I have been missing my big, steaming bowls of soup so much.
Question-What do you need your shin sleeves for? I’ve been recently have shin pains (which I think are shin splints) and am trying to find something to get rid of them (because stretching and ice isn’t working like it used to).

I totally love watching the food network when working out near a tv!

I’m looking forward to pumpkin spiced lattes, wearing boots and scarves, not being so hot all of the time!! I did break down yesterday and make some pumpkin muffins though, I just couldn’t help myself!

EVERYONE’S doing revamps! What I like is that I don’t have to enter m name, email and website again everytime (I had to before, but not all of it… it would sort of autofill but only when I started typing the first letter. You know what I mean? Maybe it’s my computer, but it does that for Angela OSG’s blog as well.) I can’t believe that September is only a week away! And that the school year is going to be in full force soon and the relaxing first week “sign this sign that” of school will be over soon. :(

Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh only a week away!! I didn’t eve nthink about that :D It’s starting to feel so great outside (minus between 12-4 when it’s still *hot*) but the leaves are falling and there’s a slight “fallesque” smell in the air already. :) I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving with all the food and family..and pumpkin pie of course! :D

All this chilly weather lately is making me so excited for fall too. I can’t wait for fall hikes, going apple picking, and definitely pumpkin! Ooh I love it when Starbucks and other cafes start offering their pumpkin flavoured teas and coffees. :D

I love the Amazing Grass Green Superfood packets! I’ve never been able to find the Lemon Lime one though. The chocolate one is my fave!

Haha, any time I go to the gym you can bet that TV will be switched to Food Network! At first I was self-conscious about it [I know...stupid]. I thought, ‘What if people think I’m weird for staring at food while working out???’ Eventually I stopped caring. It’s very entertaining while sweating away on the treadmill or elliptical!

33 Allie August 25, 2010 at 8:33 am

Jordan–
That happened to me too when I read food magazines at the gym…especially when there was humongous photos of food on the page. I think everyone has a soft spot for food though :)
