Carbcery Shopping and LLE Updates

My Labor Day weekend is off to a great start all thanks to my incredible workout this morning. Isn’t it amazing what a nice sweat sesh can do for your mood? We may also head into DC today to enjoy the beautiful weather. Weee!

If I were a grocery store owner, I would want a Red Box Machine in my store. It guarantees that a customer will come back the next day to return their DVD…and buy groceries they may or may not need. Then they’ll walk over to the Trader Joe’s just 3 blocks away to get even more food, despite the fact that they’re moving soon. Okay, so maybe that’s only the case for grocery store devotees like myself :) .

Before we get into what I bought, I’ve got a simple recipe for you. Very very simple.

Feta Chickpea Tomato Salad

IMG_7162.JPG

Combine 1 can of chick peas (sent to me by Goya as part of the Foodbuzz Tastemaker program)…

IMG_7145.JPG

…with 1 diced tomato and 1/2 cup of crumbled feta cheese.

IMG_7147.JPG

I added some fresh ground pepper before tossing. I was prepared to add some olive oil but it didn’t need it at all. The salad got enough flavor from the feta cheese.

Light and refreshing.

Carbcery Shopping

It seems as if my grocery bag was filled with all carbs! Oy vey.

At Harris Teeter, I got a loaf of Arnold Healthfull bread (with my HLS coupon) and 19 bananas for $1.72 (25 cents/lb.) from the bargain rack. I probably should have stuck with just one bag but I got a little carried away.

IMG_7171.JPG

I always get visions of baking banana bread when I see these bargain bananas and I can’t help but buy them all.

Too bad all of our baking stuff is already in the new house…oops.

IMG_7168.JPG

6 bananas got chopped up and immediately went into the freezer. Smoothies, banana soft serve and Banana Almond Butter ‘Ice Cream’ Sandwiches here I come!

IMG_7173.JPG

….oh wait, I ate all the almond butter in the house.

At Trader Joe’s, I got frozen mixed berries, cinnamon grahams, chocolate discs, and pretzel slims.

IMG_7172.JPG

They each got more than their fair share of attention from me last night. Perhaps a little too much attention. Can someone say carbo-load?

IMG_7174.JPG

These were a new to me product. I love graham crackers and was pleased to see these were made with whole wheat flour!

Yesterday was a day off from working out. I walked for an hour while talking to a friend on the phone.

LLE Updates!

1. I added 2 new pages to my ‘navigation menu’: Photography and Workout Gear. I’ve gotten quite a few questions about both of these in the past so I figured I’d write up some pages on them.

2. I uploaded more photos to the Mexico Study Abroad, London Study Abroad, Weekend in Paris and Stockholm photo albums. I’m not sure why I didn’t have them up before since they’ve been on my computer all along (the new photos are the larger thumbnails).

3. I put a contact form on my Contact page so you can send a message directly to my email inbox through the website.

4. I adjusted the colors a little bit. Is the green background pastel or neon on your computer? It looks different on my computer compared to my mom’s computer and it’s bugging me!

5. I finally have a vision for my header…now I just need to shoot it!

I’ll be back later with today’s eats and adventures. Ta ta for now.

The green background on my computer is pastel – I like it. :) Your chickpea salads sounds really interesting, and I love the new photos (especially the UK ones. :) ).

Wei Wei–
I feel guilty in terms of the $$$$$ I spent on them! $16 should last longer than 4 days : /

If you are talking about the green writing, it’s kind of in the middle for me. It’s not too bright, though!

I’m a fairly new reader, I’m liking your blog so far. Your dad seems hilarious. Anyways, I had to comment when I saw your TJ’s purchases. Aren’t those graham crackers amazing? My family and I bought some before our vacation in Oregon and used them to make s’mores – the best I’ve ever had! We also picked up a spare box and I used them to make a graham cracker crust for a chocolate cheesecake. I’m almost drooling just thinking about all that delicious-ness.

Pastel! Purty pastel.

May I reiterate my TJ’s jealousy? They need to put one in my town. Or my state for that matter. Dark chocolate sea salt almonds! Heelllllllllooo!!

Crikey those are some cheap bananas- I have never seen even the very cheapest, most skanky bananas cost so little here. Bargain!
