I looked at my camera card last night and noticed that I took 963 photos this past weekend. Yowzers. While I didn’t get to workout at all, my camera sure did! I had a blast eating my way through the festival, but I was eager to get out and really SEE the city. After brunch on Sunday (the last Foodbuzz Festival event), it was finally time to explore San Francisco…by foot!

.
Sunday morning was rainy, windy and cold. Instead of letting the weather ruin our plans (and spirits), Heather, Ashley, Kath, Emily and I borrowed umbrellas from the hotel and braved the rain.
We Climbed. We Saw. We Ate.
Starting with a walk through Chinatown.

Soon enough, the rain stopped and the sun peaked out from behind the clouds. Perfect!! Except now we were stuck carrying our big red umbrellas.
So we had a little fun with our new accessories.

We used them as walking sticks and held them tightly by our side. In fact, we treated them with tender, loving, care because they were $50 each under Kath’s name!

We risked our lives one too many times for the perfect shot.

Everywhere we turned there was another breathtaking view…and another steep hill to climb.

I think I muttered “Oh my gaaaaaaaaaawd” about 968 times this weekend too.

Finally, we arrived at Fisherman’s Wharf, a touristy shopping and dining hub by the water.

This is more like how I felt….

Kath <3s Biscoff

For a late lunch, we stopped at Boudin Sourdough to experience a SF classic, soup in a sourdough bread bowl.

Kath and I shared the creamy tomato with croutons and parmesan cheese.

Check out that hunk o’ bread!

Demolished.

I broke into some chocolate covered raisins for some sweet.

Sea lions by the pier

Alcatraz in the distance

Windy windy windy.

These goshdarnbulky umbrellas

Then it was time to head back. Instead of taking the trolly (that would’ve been too easy), we hiked up the mountain peaks of San Fran.

These were no joke.

They made for great views though.

Can you imagine parallel parking on these hills?

Makes me nervous.

Not before long, we stumbled upon Lombard Street, the crookedest street…ever?
It’s a crazy, winding zig zag.

***
After a recharge at the hotel, we ventured to a hole-in-the-wall Italian restaurant in Little Italy. But first, we walked through Chinatown…again!

The restaurant, Franchino, was a small, family-run restaurant. It felt like we travelled to Italy for the night.

I ordered a seafood stew (mussels, shrimp and calamari) in tomato sauce that came with buttered toast and a side of veggies.

This may have been the best Italian restaurant I’ve eaten at—even better than the ones I visited in Italy.
What a day! If you can believe it, there’s still more to come….another 263 photos or so to sort through. They’re my favorite photos from the entire weekend though so get excited!

This is making me wish I’d just skipped class on Monday and stayed an extra day!! Gorgeous. And now I’m craving sourdough bread!
Looks amazing!! I’ve always wanted to go to San Fran, and these pictures just make me want to hop on a plane NOW!
I love small, family-run restaurants! Sounds like you had a blast–and definitely a workout…those hills!
Beautiful, I feel like I’m back there…
I love seeing photos of this city. It’s no wonder I can’t seem to ever REALLY leave.
You guys are too cute with your red umbrellas!! And Boudin is so much fun to go to and watch them make the little teddy bear loafs
What a great day! I love exploring new cities by foot
Such gorgeous pictures – I think I’ve said it about 4 times already, but I love the red umbrellas as props!
I havent been to san fran in two years & seeing all these food buzz pictures makes me want to jump on a plane.
I LOVE the umbrella pics!! So cute. You guys get major props from me for doing all that walking, SF is TIRING because of all the hills! haha
Great pics! I think I should visit SF more, there’s always so much to see.
I love these pictures. The umbrella one needs to be framed for sure!
Over 900 pictures! That’s intense! The pics look amazing though! It looks like you had a great time!
This walk sounds like so much fun, and that dinner at the hole-in-the-wall is so perfect. I love small restaurants for that exact reason! Also – $50?!?!! Why?!
Oh my gosh, those hills! I think you got your entire weekend’s worth of workouts in just one day of climbing those things.
Love those boots! Where did you get them?
Last time I was in San Fran, I was so grateful for an automatic transmission. Can you imagine driving a manual on those hills?
Although it was tough, you were better walking up those hills…the cable car is $5 a ride with no transfers! Expensive!
North Beach (what SF peeps call the Italian district) food is amazing. Sometimes at work, my co-workers and I go up there to eat at Viva or U.S. Restaurant…delish!
I’m still getting caught up on all of your posts from your trip out west – looks amazing though. I’ve wanted to go to SF for a long time and your pictures only intensify that desire. I love Biscoff, too – every time I fly Delta I hoard those suckers. I’m so jealous you went to Boudin!
The parking and driving in SF completely terrifies me! I have to drive to Fort Mason next week for work and I’m already having nightmares!
The umbrella photos are adorable!
love the red umbrella shots!!! your boots are too cute, love the look with the scarf :c)
WOW!! Almost 1000 pictures? How’d you find the time to go through them all?? Not that it’s a bad thing, though..that trip was definitely deserving of so many photos!
Absolutely loving the umbrella pics, too cute!
Great pictures! Looks like such a fun trip and climbing all of those hills must have been a great workout.
you really look like you had a blast!
san fran is the best place on earth
That looks so delicious! I must say – I LOVE your boots!
The rest of your title should be “We conquered”
What a great time!
Kath in Biscoff land must have been awesome!!
And yeah, you looked SUPER cute! Love the pink coat!
