Our entire week is pretty much booked solid with excursions and meals. Would you believe me if I told you we’re getting it all for $150 total? Not per person…TOTAL!

We did not expect to spend this little on activities and food and we are absolutely lovin’ it! I don’t want to reveal everything that we’re doing just yet but by the end of the week, I swear you will not believe the deal we are getting.

All because we spent a few hours listening to people talk about resorts. Totally worth it and more.

Today, we used one of our complimentary Day Passes to the all-inclusive resort. This basically meant we could eat and drink whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted, all day long at any of their resorts. We visited 3 different locations, 1 per meal.

Breakfast started with another buffet. This time they had papaya! The papaya in Mexico is unlike any other.

IMG_2851.jpg

I was delighted to find some delicious green juice made with orange, grapefruit, celery, pineapple, parsley, and cactus juice….

…cactus juice!

IMG_2854.jpg IMG_2845.jpg

My first plate involved lots of papaya and pineapple along with eggs, sweet potatoes, cactus and a pastry. I’m not head over heels in love with cactus but I think it’s fun to eat here.

IMG_2844.jpg

I also had a yogurt and coffee x3.

IMG_2846.jpg IMG_2847.jpg

Plus 1/2 a giant muffin. Check out the chocolate fountain!

IMG_2855.jpg

Afterwards, we headed to Marina Manglar for excursion #1. The Jungle Tour—a boat and snorkeling trip.

IMG_2856.JPG IMG_2857.jpg

We got to drive our own motor boats to the middle of the ocean to snorkel (all guided).

IMG_2858.jpg IMG_2861.jpg IMG_2873.jpg IMG_2877.JPG IMG_2883.JPG

We saw plenty of gorgeous fish, coral, and even a statue (!!!). I wish I had an underwater camera to show you the amazing views from down under.

IMG_2893.jpg IMG_2894.jpg IMG_2896.jpg IMG_2892.jpg IMG_2891.jpg

After the Jungle Tour, it was time for lunch….

IMG_2904.jpg

You guessed it, another buffet! This one was even better than the buffets from Day 1.

My plate included:

  • beet and peach salad <–my favorite!
  • curried mussels
  • guac and chips <–Mmmm!
  • parmesan rye bread roll
  • gouda cheese
  • eggplant
  • artichoke heats
  • hearts of palm
  • corn salad

Oh and the AMAZING [oh so so so buttery and delicious] grouper fish from the grill.

IMG_2905.jpg

It gets better…

Coconut ice cream, lychee sorbet and this unforgettable corn tart. I went back for seconds of the ice cream.

IMG_2906.jpg

Then we headed to our resort to spend some time at the beach. Peter immediately ran over to play beach volleyball with a couple families. As you can see, he was pretty excited :) .

IMG_2912.jpg

I opted to go swimming (aka wave jumping and salt water gulping) in the ocean.

IMG_2923.jpg

(my left thumb is deformed!)

The waves were HUGE!!!!!! I think I swallowed about at least 5 cups of salt water.

IMG_2919.jpg

After the sunset, I headed over to the gym for 40 min. on the elliptical and some upper body strength training.

To be honest, the only reason I went to workout was so I could burn some fuel and make room for MORE food in my tummy. I probably could have gone without a third [large] meal but there’s no such thing as skipping meals when you have a day pass to an all-inlcusive resort!

IMG_2988.jpg

Dinner was the most EXCELENTE Mexican meal I’ve have ever eaten. The service was out of this world. The meal really does deserve it’s own post. I think I’ve overloaded you with enough as it is.

Excursion #2 starts bright and early tomorrow and lasts ALL DAY. I’m off to bed now!

Tell me: When you’re on vacation, do you prefer to relax and take things slowly OR explore, sightsee, and get as much done as possible?

Ahh I’m just getting more and more jealous! Normally buffets ALL the time would make you tired of them, but not when they’re ever-changing… SO MUCH FUN for a foodie hehehehe… :]

I think all that food looks AMAZING! On vacations, I think I’m somewhere in the middle in terms of relaxing and exploring. I do a little bit of both!

Looks beautiful! I did want to warn you though – we “traded” our timeshare for one in Mexico. It was an upgrade and cost us more but we were apparently also getting rid of a timeshare we weren’t happy with. We repeatedly asked “so this one is gone? We will only have the 1 timeshare?” They assured us we would no longer have to worry about the other one – it was GONE. 5 months later we are getting a bill for maintenance fees from the old timeshare. We phoned to tell them we know longer owned it. We were totally scammed. There was 1 line (that only a lawyer would understand) that basically said they would try and sell the timeshare and we were responsible for all maintenance fees. Please check all your papers before leaving the resort. And I really hope this did not happen to you too!
Enjoy the rest of your holiday!!

Hmm, I suppose a little of both– relaxing and exploring. That chocolate fountain looks Willy Wonka wonderful.

Those buffets look delish!

I prefer to pack in as much as possible when I am on vacation – I don’t want to miss out on a thing! I often come home exhausted but I figure I can relax when I am home :)

It depends on what kind of vacation it is for me/ when it is. if it’s in the summer, I like lots of activity in my vacations..but if its on spring break or something during school, I like to relax on the beach!

I’m torn when it comes to traveling. If it’s a place I’ve never been to, I try to do as much as I can. It can be exhausting, so I try to balance it off with a few days of relaxing. :) Otherwise, I cannot stand to just lay there and not do anything!

I’m the type who will want to do anything and everything as fast as possible so I don’t miss a thing. My hubby likes to relax and find a comfortable spot to just chill. We end up meeting somewhere 2/3rds his direction. :)

THat is honestly the best resort food I’ve ever seen. I’ve been to a fair share of all inclusive places and it was always bland and boring. SO LUCKY!

You guys got such a great deal! I would go nuts over all those free buffets! :D

When I go to a resort, I mostly just like to relax, but if I go on vacation to a big city, then I’m way more active and like to explore.
