Thanksgiving Brunner Part 1

…that’s breakfast + lunch + dinner all rolled into one :) .

Happy Thanksgiving (to all those in the US)!!

My day started with a [totally unplanned] brisk 5 mile run. The gym was closed and it was supposed to rain all day so I really had no definite plans to workout….uhh jumping jacks maybe? Thankfully, the rain held off and I was able to squeeze in a frigid pre-feast run. I set out for just 2-3 miles but once I started running my usual loop, I just kept going and going.

(I am so glad I got in a workout because we just finished feasting and I actually feel pretty good–woohoo!)

The entire day was spent cooking. I was a bit frantic trying to juggle cooking and photographing at the same time…not to mention trying to get good lighting! Next year I’ll have to prepare a few dishes ahead of time so I can just focus on photographing.

Yes, I’m already thinking about next year :) .

That being said, I can’t wait to show you all the photos I took.

Here are just few shots from our busy day of cooking as well as the appetizers we noshed on throughout the afternoon.

Deep conversation going on here…

My brother was excited about bacon and the monstrous Medjool dates he picked out.

Appetizers

Ginger Molasses Hermits

I baked these last night. They weren’t exactly what I expected but still pretty good. I have to work on the recipe.

The rest of the appetizers were brought over by my brother and Matt.

Cranberry Orange Nut Bread

Today, I am thankful for my family. Thankful for their love and support. Thankful that they’re all in good health.

We haven’t celebrated Thanksgiving together as a full family in 4 years (first I went abroad and then my brother went abroad)! We’ve had plenty of feasts together, but there’s something special about being together under the same roof on Thanksgiving.

AND I’m thankful for you, my dear readers, who keep coming back to read about my silly shenanigans.

Stay tuned for the Thanksgiving Brunner FEAST!
