Off to a Deserted Island!

Let’s go for an adventure…

My Neighborhood  + The Woods

Today started off with a 5 mile run around the ‘hood. I ran to a trail by the Potomac river but it turned out to be super woodsy (like the trails we hiked on Saturday). 50 feet in, I had visions of myself tripping over a tree stump, breaking my ankle, and getting eaten by a fox. SO I just stuck to running around the neighborhood.

I wore my new running tights from Forever 21 ($15.80!). They were so comfortable and didn’t slide down at all. My other pair of running tights slide down constantly and I have to awkwardly pull them up throughout my runs.

These also have a convenient, small zippered pocket to hold house keys and cards. As with most cheap tights, I hope they don’t get knobby/fuzzy and fall apart on me. Only time will tell.

My Kitchen

Afterwards, I made a Gingerbread Oatmeal Pancake (concocted in my head during my run).

IMG_4092.jpg

I simply pan-seared a bowl of Gingerbread Oatmeal and banana halves.

IMG_4078.jpg

Flip!

IMG_4081.jpg

Topped with caramel Greek yogurt, grilled bananas, toasted pecans and dried cranberries.

IMG_4096.jpg

If you can’t find caramel Greek yogurt, you can just add caramel sauce to plain Greek yogurt.

My Backyard

Today’s photography site:

IMG_4094.jpg

I was standing on the chair when a school bus pulled up 30 feet from me and dropped off about 20 children. It wouldn’t have been that awkward if a herd of parents weren’t waiting for them at the bus stop and if I wasn’t wearing THIS:

IMG_4110.jpg

Not everyone stands on chairs to take photographs of food while wearing their pajamas?

A Deserted Island

Before I go, my good friend Sarah tagged me as one of her 7 desert island friends.

I’ve got 7 questions to answer…

1. Which would you rather have: the ability to fly, or the power of invisibility? The ability to fly. I’d fly all over the world with my clunky camera in tow and snap photos to show you all.

2. What was your favorite dish at Thanksgiving this year? Sweet Potato Casserole.

3. What is your favorite movie of all time? A tie between The Family Stone and How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Both HI-larious!

4. If you could have an all-expensive paid trip anywhere, where would you go? Australia. If only I had been at the Oprah Show that day.

Oprah? Are you there? There’s still time to invite me along!

5. Describe your favorite pair of shoes ever. My Rainbow leather flip flops. The only shoes I wear when it’s above 40* F.

6. No internet or no TV: which would you pick? No TV! The idea of not having internet is giving me heart palpitations as we speak. I didn’t have a TV in college, and I got used to not having it around. Plus, nowadays you can watch TV on the internet. Win!

7. What is your favorite season? Winter, because it includes Christmas AND my birthday. I’m all about the prezzies.

***

Now I pick 7 of you to join me on a deserted island. I choose: Krista, Susan, Gabriela, Lauren, Chelsey, Kath and Caroline.

Answer these questions, please!

1. For which reality show would you want to be a judge?

2. If you could interview anyone in the world, who would you choose?

3. What is one piece of advice you would tell your 3rd grade self?

4. If you could have a role in any movie/TV show (already released), which would you choose? (Harry Potter!! I had to answer that one myself :) )

5. What is your favorite dessert (be specific!)?

6. If you could magically be fluent in another language, which would you choose?

7. What is one item on your holiday wish list? Make sure your family members read your answer :)

***

Tell me: The answers to the above questions!!

Your breakfast looks so good – the gingerbread is perfect for the Christmas season! On days that I work I rarely get to make a fun breakfast :-( I am with you on the no tv – who has time for TV?? I only really watch Glee these days because I just love it.

Hahaha I love it. Standing on a chair in your PJs – here’s to you for not caring what people think! You just ran 5 miles, you can do whatever you want. ;-) I love the searing your oats idea – looks great!

I don’t know why I haven’t tried pan-searing bananas yet, they look so yummy!

HAHA I love the PJ’s!! The best part of having no neighbors within visible distance = being able to look like a goof in my robe and reindeer slippers.

Thanks for the tag!! Gonna have to think about some of those…

YAY!! I’m so happy you would choose me to be on a dessert island. I would love to be your dessert island buddy. ;)

1. I would LOVE to be a judge on Iron Chef. Obviously!
2. If I could interview anyone in the world (dead or alive) I would choose Oprah.
3. Ha, I love this one. I would tell my 3rd grade self to lay off the hot pink lipstick. It didn’t look good then and it will never go in style.
4. Rachel McAdams in The Notebook.
5. Oh my, this is hard to answer and a complete toss up between Tiramisu and Carrot Cake. But then this one time my friend made some kind of chocolate chip cookie pie and I deemed it THE BEST THING I EVER ATE. However, this was prior to me consuming 6 glasses of merlot. ;)
6. I wish I was fluent in Russian so that I could talk to my husband’s grandmother but I also want to speak Italian after watching Eat Pray Love this past weekend.
7. I’ll name two in hopes that one might come true. A Treadmill and Garlic Gold (so random).

That was fun! ;)

I wish I was fluent in German so I didn’t have to take a test on it tomorrow…and Farsi!

I love the Family Stone too! :)

I'm guessing that Chelsey is me, but it wasn't linked to me.. I'm going to answer anyways. haha!

I gotta say, I laughed out loud at the thought of anybody getting eaten by a fox. I mean, not to sound gorey or anything like that..but just the fact foxes are so small and nice..it makes an odd image lmho. :P

Love the grilled bananas!! I’m going to do that tonight thanks to you :)

LOL – Don’t you hate awkward “Why are you taking pictures of your food?” looks? I know I do! :-P
The embarrassing situation was worth it though, that dish looks amazing! I love grilled bananas. <3

Haha that’s so awkward! I take a lot of photos at my window, which is visible from my neighbour’s window, so I always wonder if he can see me. ;P

I really like The Family Stone too, but a lot of people I know hated it! I always like to watch it around Christmas to put me in the holiday spirit!

1. Food Network Challenge! I figure I can use some of my broadcast journalism background to judge some on camera stuff andddd I get to eat (usually) delicious food!

2. Hmm…Ryan Reynolds because then I get to meet him :-)

3. Don’t try to change your name to Mandy from Amanda. It won’t stick…and that’s a good thing.

4. Probably Gossip Girl because of the out-of-touch-with-real-life ridiculousness of the show, the eye candy actors and the fact that the clothes are amazing.

5. Carrot cake. Always carrot cake.

6. French–Sadly, I could sort of speak this after high school, but I’ve since lost it. I think it’s so pretty and used enough that it would still be useful! Especially in Canada, a country I love.

7. Luggage! I’m starting to ask for grown-up gifts now that I’m graduating and eek–entering the real world!

2. If you could interview anyone in the world, who would you choose? Timothy Olyphant!

3. What is one piece of advice you would tell your 3rd grade self? Just because they’re doing it doesn’t mean you have to.

4. If you could have a role in any movie/TV show (already released), which would you choose? oooh this is the hardest one for me as i’m such a movie/tv show junkie – I guess a TV show since it lasts SO long and I guess I’d HAVE to go with SATC OR friends!!!!

5. What is your favorite dessert (be specific!)? Snickers pie.

6. If you could magically be fluent in another language, which would you choose? Spanish.

7. What is one item on your holiday wish list? I need another HRM… sadly i’ve lost mine!

1. Which would you rather have: the ability to fly, or the power of invisibility?
The ability to fly – no crummy airplanes and much cheaper! I would visit a different country every weekend.
2. What was your favorite dish at Thanksgiving this year?
Sadly, nothing, since I live in South Africa and we don’t have Thanksgiving Day.I did make a great pizza that night, though ;)
3. What is your favorite movie of all time?
This is very difficult, because I love lots of movies, but I would have to choose Grease – I’ve watched it countless times, but it still makes me happy when I watch it.
4. If you could have an all-expensive paid trip anywhere, where would you go?
Italy – for the scenery and the food!
5. Describe your favorite pair of shoes ever.
Soft, fluffy slippers. If I could,I’d wear them all the time, even to work.Sadly they don’t fit in at work, and in summer I would die of heat stroke.
6. No internet or no TV: which would you pick?
Since I don’t have a home computer,no Internet would be fine with me.But if I had my own computer,I would definitely choose no TV.
7. What is your favorite season?
Fall (autumn). It’s the most beautiful, and the weather is just right, not too hot,and not too cold, just perfect.

1. For which reality show would you want to be a judge? Yikes. Probably none. Not a huge fan of reality TV. Although I have been known to judge the Bachelor from the comfort of my couch =)

2. If you could interview anyone in the world, who would you choose? George W. Bush. I love him!

3. What is one piece of advice you would tell your 3rd grade self? Don’t stress the teasing, don’t worry about what others think of you. Stay true to yourself and you will find happiness. Pinky Promise.

4. If you could have a role in any movie/TV show (already released), which would you choose? Jena Dewan from Step Up. She’s gorgeous AND gets Channing Tatum. Yes please!

5. What is your favorite dessert (be specific!)? Anything with sugar as an ingredient =) Ultimate fave would probably have to be the truffle cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory or Tiramisu.

6. If you could magically be fluent in another language, which would you choose? Italian! Such a beautiful language. And Italy is stunning.

7. What is one item on your holiday wish list? A baby! haha but after 14 months of trying, I’m not holding my breath this year. Although it would be AMAZING. S
