Dumb or Determined?

It snowed practically 8 hours straight today!

As I was leaving the house for the gym this afternoon, I noticed the streets hadn’t been plowed and cars were barely slushing through. I immediately had visions of our 14 1/2 year old car dying in the snow so I turned around, put on my boots, and walked to the gym instead.

Yesterday, you couldn’t pay me to go to the gym and today I walked 30 min. there and back through inches of snow. Seriously? I don’t know what came over me but I was determined to go. I felt pretty dumb at the time.

I ellipticalled for 60 min. while watching Ellen.

After I got back, I decided to shovel our [hugh jass] driveway. The sun was about to set and I didn’t want my dad to have to shovel snow in the dark after work.

I was determined to finish the whole thing (I think I win the award for daughter of the year).

Remember when we moved from a condo to a house (with a driveway)? Yeah, I suddenly miss condo living…a lot.

Post shoveling, I drank a Pumpkin Pie Smoothie. Pretty dumb, right? Well, I needed something quick and I was moments away from a hot steamy shower. It made sense at the time.

Then I shoved my face with greens. I managed to go all of yesterday without a single veggie so this was much much needed.

IMG_5322.jpg

I made an enormous salad with orange slices, brussels sprouts, and rotisserie chicken.

IMG_5321.jpg

Orange slices make an excellent salad topper.

IMG_5332.jpg IMG_5338.jpgIMG_5335.jpg

I ended with a piece of toast + banana + almond butter and 2 pieces of biscotti (it never ends).

All of the photos in this post (minus the snow) were taken in my Botched Up Lightbox. What do you think?

This scene looks like a science fair project…

I feel like such a dork.

Tell me: Love the snow or dread it?

I do LOVE the snow but it’s not quite as exciting now that I’m out of school.

Love snow! I just said at dinner tonight I wish it would snow so I could walk somewhere in it! (??!)

LOVE the snow but not the cold. The snow is great for snowboarding & snowshoeing, but I have to bundle up to stay warm. At least the snow is pretty :)

I hate the snow … but only because I have to shovel it and drive in it. If I could just sit in the house, cozy and warm, with hot cocoa and a good book, it could snow all day long. But since I have to go to work (and dig the car out to get there), not so much.

I gotta say, I’m not a fan of the snow. I like to look at it, but not be outside is it. I live in Victoria, British Columbia and we hardly ever get snow….but we get rain :(

I like the snow, but living in Atlanta, we don’t get much. Just ice.

Hehehe it snowed yesterday in Shanghai! We almost NEVER get snow here, so I went outside with my friends and had a pretty awesome photoshoot. I was the photographer. As always. Heh.

I love the snow when I get off school and I don’t have to drive it!

I think the lightbox is awesome! You gotta keep yourself young somehow! I think the photos speak for themselves too, makes a big difference in clarity and contrast.

that’s amazing I didn’t even realize it was a light box!!! Kudos to walking to the gym, last year during a really large snow storm my mom and I bundled up and walked to Dunkin Donuts–it’s was a little over a mile but oh so snowy and quite fun. We really wanted coffee and that was before we had our own coffee maker.

with love and cupcakes,
Cookteen

I want snow! Although, when I live someplace where it does snow, I think I’ll regret saying that…

That would really be pure determination! It’s nice of you to shovel those snow for your dad.
Wow, that box is so easy to make! Thanks I’ve stopped by a dork’s blog now I’m going to have perfect pictures. :)

it snowed here too but only a light dusting. I feel like it may be making its way up though because snow is in the forecast for the weekend. Yuck!

That was sweet of you to do all that shoveling for your dad! I hope you’re not too sore tomorrow though. I’m still ACHING from shoveling a few days ago. :P

I love the snow. I wouldn’t mind winter if it was always on the ground!! Buuuut I do hate shoveling. Leave that to my dad and his snow blower :)

The smoothie makes perfect sense to me. I love getting freezing cold before I take a hot shower…feels so good!

I don’t dread the snow so much as I dread the cold that comes along with it!

Love the cold, but could do without tons of snow at a time where you can’t leave the house!

You absolutely win daughter of the year award.

Shoveling and I aren’t friends. ;) Especially when you have two younger brothers in the house! Holla! Ok, that makes me sound uber spoiled. I guess I am! :P

I dislike snow. I always fall. IT hurts. A lot. HA! :)

The light box worked great for those pictures! I am now want a huge salad with brussel sprouts. Is it weird that I crave brussel sprouts…bahaha! I’m about to go home for the holidays and am cleaning out my fridge, the salad was the first to go :(

The lightbox photos are amazing as ever!

I don’t live in the snow, so it’s always a huge treat to me to see it, so I guess I love it! But if I lived in it, like you, I would hate it.

Snow is pretty to look at and play in like twice a year, but other than that I would rather not have it!

Hi there! First time commenting here! yay.

Walking to the gym? NOT dumb- awesome. Pumpkin smoothie? Not at all dumb. I would have done both! I haven’t seen the snow since I visited Banff a year ago. Living in Southern cal, the most we get is a wet rain! :-) Shoveling sure looks like a fun way to burn about a bazillion calories, but that’s probably because I’ve never actually done it! :-) yes you are daughter of the year!

Not much a fan of snow and we have tons!

Oranges are so good in salads, they bring the freshness into them.
