Physical Activity Resumes Tomorrow

Phew! Isn’t it crazy how doing nothing besides eating can be so exhausting? I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing holiday weekend filled with lotsa love and good food.

The forecast predicted a white Christmas but all we got was grey and dreary. It finally started snowing today, but it’s just been small flakes trickling down. Better luck next year!

Back to Christmas Eve…

At 12 midnight, Peter’s Workshop gathered around the Christmas tree and opened presents one by one. The theme of this year seemed to be Practical Presents. Every gift was useful and much needed—the best kind of presents in my opinion.

IMG_5899.jpg

Okay, some presents weren’t needed per say, but definitely wanted very badly. Such as Nike Roger Federer apparel. My mom can finally support “HER Roger” in style now.

IMG_5912.jpg

I got a butane torch (for things like creme brulee!), Origins heel cream (much much needed for my running feet), and…

A KITCHEN AID STAND MIXER!

Hallelujah! I’ve been dreaming of owning this beauty for far too long. I’ve turned away so many recipes without the convenience of this stand mixer.

Thanks, Fam!

Christmas morning, we went out for Indian food at Mirchi because my mom bought 4 Wow.com coupons and they expire in a month. I slept in way late so this was pretty much breakfast for me.

Indian food for breakfast? Uhh yeah, my body was just a bit confused…

IMG_5925.jpg

The first entree I ordered, they didn’t have. The second entree I ordered they also didn’t have.

They were not making this easy for me. I basically spent the entire time doing this…

IMG_5926.jpg IMG_5941.jpg

We ordered naan and tandoori roti, duh.

IMG_5928.jpg

Bagara Baingan (baby eggplant), Lamb Korma, and a chickpea, tomato, cucumber salad

IMG_5938.jpg

IMG_5937.jpgIMG_5930.jpgIMG_5931.jpg

Matt ordered the Lamb Biryani

IMG_5939.jpg

My brother ordered the Chicken Tikka

IMG_5940.jpg

I ate 2 pieces of tandoori roti, 1 piece of naan and mooched off everyone else’s dishes.

After we got back, I went to town on the leftover desserts from Christmas Eve and then baked granola bars, which we ate with vanilla ice cream. We spent the entire night watching House Hunters on HGTV.

There was a major shortage of movement and veggies that’s for sure.

IMG_5951.jpg

***

We spent all of today shopping for after Christmas sales. Our old ornaments are still missing (sad!) so we stocked up on some at Target for next year. We better not lose these.

IMG_7733.jpg

There were a few aggressive shoppers out today but nothing too crazy, thank goodness!

IMG_7735.jpg

Afterwards, we headed to Costco for lunch (aka samples galore) and then stopped by the outlet mall.

IMG_7740.jpg

There were some good sales going on, but we didn’t end up buying much.

I got a small trifle dish and a mini bakeware set perfect for Toaster Oven Baking at Crate and Barrel Outlet.

IMG_7741.JPG

Dinner was some much needed veggies. Spring mix, chick peas + veg, hearts of palm

IMG_5964.jpg

Plus leftover Sweet Potato Tart, salmon and naan. Dare I say the leftovers tasted better 2 days later?

IMG_5956.jpg

This rustic tart from Christmas Eve was definitely a winner. I can’t wait to make it again, perhaps with some other veggies!

IMG_5958.jpg

Time to lay on the couch and eat dessert. Physical activity resumes tomorrow.

And just like that, Christmas 2010 is over!

Tell me: What did you get for Christmas?

Funny, I just got a toaster oven and was thinking how I could use a smaller muffin pan to make muffins in it!

PS – you are going to LOVE your stand mixer. Though you won’t get as much of a workout in the kitchen anymore. :)

You know you’re getting old when practical gifts are exciting. A new whisk, cutting board and grater were highlights of Christmas. :D I bought myself a DSLR today, though!

Haha this reminds me of A Christmas Story when they go to the Chinese Restaurant on Christmas. :) I’ve always wanted to do this just because of that movie.
So glad you spent a wonderful day with your family. Enjoy your evening.

Yay for getting a stand mixer! :D I’m curious though – what makes it so much better than an electric hand mixer?

I got a Garmin Forerunner 305, some Lululemon clothes, a cookbook, an electric handmixer, a food processor, and some clothes.

Yay for the stand mixer, I got the exact same one for Christmas too! I was so surprised since I have been talking about one for at least ten years and my parents have always said I had to wait for my wedding day. I guess they got tired of waiting. Haha!
