Gifts to Myself

in Books, Gifts

Oh hello, gorgeous.

IMG_5985.jpg IMG_5986.jpg IMG_5994.jpg

I haven’t even used it yet. I know, who the heck am I? I’m dying to bake something with it but my body is currently in post-holiday-dessert overload right now.

I also need to find the perfect recipe to break it in.

Suggestions?

…wait, you’re telling me you don’t have your Halloween pumpkin still sitting on the kitchen counter?

Anyways, if you’re catching up on posts from this weekend here they are…

1. Merry Christmas Eve 2. Christmas Eve at Peter’s Workshop 3. Physical Activity Resumes Tomorrow

***

In other news, it seems like the entire east coast was hit with snow except us. Snow in North Carolina. Snow in Philadelphia. We had about 50 flakes come down and not a lick of snow stuck on the ground. Weird/not fair.

Before I go engage in some much needed physical activity, I wanna share with you a few small gifts I got myself this holiday season.

1. Books: Field Guide to Photography (from the bargain section at Barnes and Noble) and Unbearable Lightness

IMG_5687.jpg

I’ve flipped through the photography book but all books have been pushed aside in favor of reading Unbearable Lightness. I can’t put this book down! The only reason I haven’t finished it yet is because I don’t want it to be over. Portia de Rossi really opens up and leaves no detail behind. The book is very real. I’m enjoying it so far but it’s definitely not for everyone.

2. A Camera Strap from Etsy. I thought about getting this for months and then finally took the plunge. The Canon strap was rough and hurt my neck. This one is comfy and perty. I love it.

IMG_7723.jpg

My favorite part is the pocket for the lens cap.

3. Another Etsy purchase? A custom header! It never occured to me to find a graphic designer on Etsy until a few weeks ago. Finally, after a year and a half of blogging, LLE will have a header. The first draft is supposed to arrive in my inbox soon and I can’t wait to work on the design with the lady.

4.These arrived in the mail on Christmas Eve. More to come soon!

Off to get my workout on. If I wait any longer my stand mixer will lure me into the kitchen and I may never leave.

Tell me: Score any good after Christmas deals? Did you get yourself any gifts this season?

The most important question of all….What should I bake first?!

Since you’re sick of sweets, I think you should bake up a nice loaf of bread. Let the mixer do all of the kneading!

I think I’m gonna eventually want to hire someone to do a custom template and header for me too. Can’t wait to see what it looks like!

And for the record, our pumpkins are still on the front door step.

From my parents I got a rice cooker(!!) and some home brewing supplies (!!). Now I can make wine at work and beer at home! Of course I still buy a ton of the stuff I didn’t make!

I got a bunch of discounted Christmas plates for myself yesterday. …

Oooh fun new gift! I first used mine to make bread and it’s a great use that stays away from the sweets!

I not only got some amazing gifts…new 10x exilim camera, Garmin, clothes…..
But I also took the pleasure of giving myself some, too, knowing my family members don’t know what I precisely like. Let’s just say Sun Warrior protein, post Crate and Barrel xmas sales, and Urban Outfitters don’t make your wallet happy after Christmas :-)

Our mixers are twins! I love mine – couldn’t live without it!

And I still have a pie pumpkin on my counter. Just waiting for some inspiration to strike!

I’ve heard a lot about Unbearable Lightness and I’m dying to read it now!

You should make some carrot cake with your stand mixer since I know you’re such a carrot cake fan! ;)

Good call on the camera strap — it’s gorgeous!!!
I cant wait to see your new header! I’m lucky to have scored a few years of graphic design training before I switched my major to nutrition… but If I had to change mine again… ohmygosh i’d be dumbfounded! What a great idea to collaborate with an etsy designer. I’m excited to see it! =)

Oh my gosh! I missed yesterday’s post! So jealous of your stand mixer! She’s a beauty! I would say make some of Mama Pea’s dough balls (because a stand mixer is a MUST…something I wish I had known BEFORE I made them with my cheap hand-held), but since your not feeling the sweets I would say make some yummy bread and then slather it in some avocado! Mmm, I’m making myself hungry!

That shade of red is soo gorgeous; lucky youu! You should def. bake some rustic homemade bread and try out the kneading hook. And those straws look so much funn!

My Kitchenaid is red too!!! How pretty. :D Can’t wait to see what you whip up. It saves you the arm power, so you can bake/make more!

I flipped through that book at Target the other day. Looks interesting.

I’m a graphic designer if you ever need any help!

I agree, make some bread! Its the most satisfying feeling ever, and what these mixers are made to do :) Did you get any fun attachments??

Ahh a Kitchenaid! My parents get one for their daughters (there are 5 of us!) when they get married. Since that’s a long way off for me, I’m considering making the purchase for myself… I DID get a Le Creuset stock pot in bright red for Christmas which I haven’t used yet, either. Can’t wait to, though :)
