When I put together my blog posts every day, some tidbits get cut, pushed aside, forgotten or reserved for later. After awhile, I have a collection of random bits and pieces that I need to get out. Most of them are things I’ve been loving lately…nothing too crazy or controversial.

Ready Freddy?

I did an Exercise TV video last week when I was NOT interested in traveling the 0.7 mile distance to the gym. Okay, so maybe I was just too excited about my bread dough rising and didn’t want to leave it home alone.

I flipped through the free workout videos and picked one that I thought would be challenging yet not too high impact, for the sake of my cranky shins.

I did not expect to be dripping sweat by the end of a 22 min. video! It was nice to get my heart rate up without leaving the house. So if you ever don’t feel like hitting up the gym, are stuck at home, and/or waiting for bread dough to rise, look for something online to get you moving.

I gave Kombucha another chance. This was my second bottle of Kombucha ever. The first time I tried it, I nearly gagged. I took sips out of the bottle for a few days and then tossed about 1/3 of the bottle after it sat in the fridge untouched for over a week.

I gave it another shot last week and I really enjoyed it. It may have been the flavor choice or perhaps I was just extra thirsty that day…regardless, now I’m hooked. It’s definitely something I can only afford to buy about once a year though…

I read a little bit every night before bed because it helps put me to sleep. However, last night I got wrapped up in this Alton Brown book…and couldn’t fall asleep for hours!

It was like a nerdy science textbook devoted to baking! It answered so many of my questions and I learned a few things like why you shouldn’t punch your bread dough (!!) and why you should use instant yeast vs. active dry yeast.

IMG_6640.JPG

Think a super long episode of Good Eats devoted to baking. Except, you can slow down and read it at your own pace…and not have to be at the mercy of Alton’s suuuuper fast talking.

BBQ Sauce! It’s not like I’ve never had BBQ sauce before. I used to always get it at McDonald’s to eat with my fries. But recently, I’ve been craving it. I think it was the veggie-meat products with BBQ sauce that got me officially hooked.

I don’t remember ever purchasing a bottle of BBQ sauce and I’m not sure why. I can’t wait to slather this on everything. Don’t be surprised if I start eating it straight up.

I watched all 32 episodes of Glee in less than 2 months…and that was me trying to make it last as long as possible. To minimize withdrawal symptoms, I’ve been watching Youtube videos on repeat.

My favorite songs include…

Marry Me

Forget You

One Love (People Get Ready)

I just did my Exercise TV the other day! They have some fun ones. I tried some of the Kim Kardashian ones… haha kinda annoying. I really like the 10 minute ones before work…very challenging!

Eeeeek this post came at a perfect time. I tried Kombucha once and HATED it, but I want to try again – which flavor(s) do you find least offensive?

I’ve been loving bowls of fruit for dessert! Helps me get over my holiday sugar craze.
I’ve also been loving that my bosses are out of town and I get to leave work early.

And brussel sprouts. But I always love those.

I loooooove Alton Brown. I actually bought Good Eats: The Early Years for my boyfriend last Christmas, and he loved it so much I bought him Good Eats: The Middle Years this year. Both books are full of information and the best recipes. He’s a chef, so I trust his judgement!

The Kombucha is very hard to adjust to at first, but once you get it . . . its not SOO bad.

I think the flavor has a huge deal to do with it too. I got the gingerberry one and almost puked. Then I got some other berry flavor and it was much better!

I used to think Alton Brown is really annoying, but now I LOVE Good Eats. The jokes get corny but it’s packed with food science and information. Very educational!

The Whole Foods in my burg sells Kombucha in bulk so it’s more affordable. I think it’s provided by a local producer, so I’m not sure if they’ll have it at other places. But it’s worth a try. They are delish!

I definitely depend on Exercise TV when the weather outside doesn’t permit outdoor activity…. I much prefer being outside, though!
Glad you liked the kombucha– isn’t it wonderful? Not on my wallet though!

Gah, I’m still super behind on Glee!

Lately I’ve been loving eating the gingerbread house I made with my family over the holidays. What could be better than gingerbread topped with copious amounts of icing and candy? :D

I stalk BBQ sauce every now and again also. My splurge (high cal, lots of sugar…delicious) one is Sweet Baby Ray’s (and fun to say). My everyday one is KC Masterpiece Low Calorie Classic Blend BBQ Sauce. It’s delicious and only 10 calories a tbsp!

I also got the most recent Glee soundtrack, and I LOVE rockin out to “Marry Me” on my way to the grocery store:)
