Love and Basketball

No, not the movie.

Love = baking bread

Basketball = Duke vs. Maryland tonight at 8pm!

***

Remember how I couldn’t get my milk to froth? I figured out the problem. HEAT

When I microwave the almond milk for 10 OR 30 seconds prior to frothing, it won’t budge. It froths the best when I microwave it for ~20 seconds (our microwave is super powerful so the times may not be the same for you, but definitely experiment around).

…at least I think that’s what’s been causing the differences in frothability.

This morning, I set out to make another loaf of bread. We ate the last of loaf #3 for breakfast this morning (with honey walnut cream cheese!), so it was time for another loaf. For once, my baking actually has a purpose and is saving our fam some money too.

…although something tells me we are just eating more bread as a result :) .

IMG_6712.jpg

For a snack, I ate some Cinnamon Roast Almonds and an orange.

IMG_6720.jpg

While waiting for my dough to rise, I went to the gym for 60 min. elliptical + 10 min. leg weights (squats, lunges, dead lifts, calf raises).

Post workout, I made a huge salad. After eating practically zero veggies yesterday, I couldn’t wait to fill up on some fresh greens.

IMG_6731.jpg

Spring mix, broccoli, <3s of palm, TJ’s Tomato Basil Hummus and whole wheat naan triangles.

IMG_6733.jpg

IMG_6739.jpg

Followed by some milk chocolate chips and almonds. Gotta end on sweet.

IMG_6744.jpg

A couple hours later, I pulled the bread out of the oven and immediately slammed 3 warm, soft, pillowy slices into my mouth. The recipe instructed to wait 30 min. for the bread to cool, but that clearly didn’t happen.

IMG_6749.JPG

The loaf is now 2/3rds gone (with help from my mom). 6 hours of hard work…gone in 6 minutes.

Totally worth it.

Now I’m waiting for the Duke Basketball game to start!

1) I just bought some of those cocoa roasted almonds you were recently eating and they are da bomb. I did just say “da bomb” because they’re that good.
2) I think it’s fine that you’re eating more bread because it’s wholesome, weird ingredient-free bread made with love. So therefore it is the best thing you can eat. And you should make more of it.

Your bread looks delicious again! Though I guess at least it’s not really six hours of hard work! Sitting there waiting for it to rise is just hard for impatient people like me!
