I spent the entire day searching. Searching for jobs and searching for snacks. It went a little something like this: computer, fridge, computer, pantry, computer…and on and on. Instead of showing you repetitive eats, I’m going to take this time to show you our shot glass collection.
I’ve been meaning to show you this collection for over a year now. It all started several years ago when my mom and I decided to start buying a shot glass at every location we visited. They’re the perfect souvenir. They’re affordable (usually around $4-5 each), they’re sold everywhere, and they’re small in size.
It’s fun to look through the collection and reminisce about the trips we’ve taken (and we’ve taken many!). It’s no secret that our family loves to travel.
We’re still looking for a display case for the collection but for now it sits on this tray.

So fun! I have to agree with you that shot glasses do make the perfect souvenir. Although I don’t like when little kids collect them – not exactly the right message!
My sister has a similar thing going on, so if I’m anywhere far enough to consider *somewhere*, I get one for her. If it were just up to family trips, we’d have like 0 shot glasses, ha ha.
Great, affordable, portable idea for travel collection. Personally, I have a huge collection of Wheaties boxes. I quit collecting them when they started putting Tiger Woods (wearing a variety of different golf shirts) on every box.
I collect keychains, shot glasses (
), snow globes, mini mannequins, Tinkerbell memorabilia… SO much.
I collect peanut butter – not really, but kind of.
Love the shot galss collections!!
I love the leaning tower shot glass! Too cute! I collect hat pins. I have been collecting them since middle shool. They are inexpensive like shot glasses and I love having memoires from all my vacations in one place.
So fun! I used to collect keychains.
The little starbucks shot glasses are too cute!! i dont collect anything! shame, huh? I just try to capture lots of pictures everywhere I travel (which I assume will be amplified now that I have a blog!).
This is a great collection! I live just minutes from your brother’s alma mater. It’s a small blog world.
haha….we collect Starbucks mugs from every city we travel to! don’t have the ones you have though (jealous.
)
Awesome collection. I collect shot glasss as well, but I’ve got under 20. When you find a great storage solution, please do tell. I’ve been looking for one too. think I may just create one..
Destin, Fl…. I recognize that one!! I am sorry to hear about the job…that just means it wasn’t right!
NICE! That’s a collection alright!
I try to collect cookbooks from different countries and even states. I like the ones I can find from the small town person that wrote one!
My husband has a cup collection and it’s ridiculous — we need a curio just to display them — one day… one day….
I feel like I’ve seen that Goofy glass before–have you drunk smoothies out of it before?
Haha yeah I drank kefir in that one back at school! Almost forgot about that.
I have a shot glass collection! Sometimes I use them to serve small portions of really rich desserts.
Haha this is awesome! And that is quite a collection – you guys have done so much travelling!
I love it. The real question is…does your family take a lot of shots? I mean, I do think it’s a great souvenir idea, but do they get used for anything? Not that they have to be, I would just love it if you concluded with, “and every friday night we get together and get crunk.”
That is impressive. I left all of mine back in college, along with my bad habits
Whoa, that is a lot of shot glasses! I collect them for my parents- my favorite is the Norwegian flag one I got in Oslo. My mom is part Norwegian
Oh my goodness, I collect shot glasses too! I just added my 20th (I think?) shot glass from Victoria B.C. I LOVE all of yours!
Oh my goodness, love the Starbucks shot glass!
Woww crazy Allie! You guys have been everywhere! My fave is Argentina shotglass~heheh it’s so pretty! Or maybe I’m just very biased b/c I’m from there
these are great! I love the pensacola one – so pretty! I also like the Paris one and the leaning one!!
I collect tiaras and crowns… I have quite a few, and I have pageant parties and invite my girlfriends over, make them dinner and they each get to pick one to wear when they come through the door…
my favorite one is a replica of the crown Audrey Hepburn wore in Roman Holiday…
Fun!! But you need a Russian shot glass in that collection. They are about 3x the size of a regular shot glass. No kidding!!
I love this!! When I was little I collected tea spoons from everywhere I went, but that kind of fell by the wayside eventually. I love the shot glass idea way more though, cause it’s more fun!!
I collect cookbooks
I’m not even sure my parents have ever taken a shot, let alone own a shot glass. This post = reason #2883920 why I’m obsessed with your parents.
I collect jars of PB. It’s my passion
p.s. question for you Allie-bear.. which plugin do you use for commenting responses? whenever I respond to a comment in my email, it just goes back to the commenters email, but I want it to post for my site too! Any tips?
happy Friday!
GO DUKE!
I love this idea so much! What a great way to chronicle all the places you’ve been…..and not to mention the glasses are adorable! I especially like the cancun one…very pretty!
I love traveling as well and hope to go to most of these places when I am older too!
hahah i love this post
wow I thought I had a lot, maybe 20 but you collection is impressive!
Very impressive collection! I had a shotglass collection once too… but unfortunately, there was an (ahem) incident with a washing machine during a move a few years ago and when all was said and done, I only had two (NY & Bahamas) left. Sigh.
Wow! I love your collection and you’ve been to so many places I’ve yet to see ! This might sound a little lame compared to yours but I collect magnets of every place we travel to. They’re also inexpensive ($2-$4) and I post them on my fridge so we see them every time we get something to eat.
the mexico ones are AWESOME!
i collect bells.
That is seriously the coolest collection ever. We have a post card collection, and buy a few from everywhere we visit. Although in recent years we’ve stopped caring… the post cards that we have date back to the late 1980s!!
Are you trying to make us think you are an alcoholic?
I collect shot glasses also.
What a great collection! I don’t really collect anything…unless food counts! If so then I collect nut butter, dried fruit, and nuts!
I collect magnets from places we go. Growing up, my mom collected magnets from all the US states that we’d traveled to as a family, but we stopped after we lived overseas (my dad is Air Force). I picked it back up on my own after my husband and I started traveling together and taking more trips.
There’s something about hanging things on the fridge that look a little more creative than those magnets that come on the phone book
