Funches and Zazi

Another beautiful day spent inside at the gym…for the love of Duke Basketball.

I got to the gym a little earlier than game time because I wasn’t sure if the gym had the TruTV channel (it did). That way if they didn’t, I could still get in a short workout. If they did, I could stay and watch the game for a bit.

I only had energy to stay ’til halftime though.

.

I completed 60 min. elliptical, 25 min. treadmill walking, and 10 min. upper body strength training.

My recent basketball-induced workouts may seem a bit long but keep in mind I don’t really move much all day (read: sit in front of the computer). I’m just making up for lost daily activity!

I came home and immediately made a Pumpkin Pie Green Smoothie. I added a scoop of Very Green Powder to the original mix today.

My favorite tumbler…how fitting!

IMG_1395.JPG

Can you say brain freeze?!

IMG_1394.JPG

While watching the game at the gym, the commentator kept saying “Funches.” I couldn’t hear very well due to the noise from the machine and just kept reading “Funches” in the caption. I kept thinking to myself, what is FUNCHES?!

Is this like fetch? Stop trying to make “funches” happen!

…it was the last name of a basketball player on the opposing team :) .

Dinner

Shrimp ‘n’ Hummus Salad

Pan-fried shrimp, roasted red pepper hummus, and tomato slices on a bed of spring mix

IMG_1407.JPG IMG_1409.JPG

On the side, whole wheat wrap points.

Like pita points…wrap points!

IMG_1417.JPG

The hummus made for a fabulous salad dressing.

We are all out of oranges so I ate a grapefruit.

IMG_1430.JPG

A super sweet pink grapefruit!

I got a question the other day regarding the reason for my daily orange. Well, we’ve been getting a case of delicious oranges from Costco fairly regularly so it just became my go-to fruit. I’m allergic to a lot of convenient fruits i.e. apples, pears, peaches, kiwi, etc., so citrus is my friend.

Daily apple…Daily orange!

IMG_1434.JPG IMG_1404.JPG

Dessert was a cup of GoLean Crunch cereal and a chunk of white chocolate. Still on the lookout for something else. I might do some baking tonight!

Have a great weekend!

Tell me: Is there one food you eat every single day? Have you ever made up a word and used it successfully?

When I was younger, I used to say “zazi” a lot. Like, “This rug feels so zazi.” “My throat is zazi.” Meaning fuzzy, rough, itchy and just strange!

I always eat a banana everyday! I was so sad that my old school Villanova lost in the first round. It was so exciting to see them in the final four 2 years ago too.

I eat an apple every single day (and, except for routine check-ups, it does definitely keep the doctor away :) And I have a friend that makes up all kinds of words….my favorite would have to be “sturdevant,” which means “generally awesome, swell, and/or nifty.”

Hummus was made for a salad topping. And pizza topping, and egg topping and just about anything topping. :)

I’m having cereal for dessert too. Great minds think alike.

I don’t think I have ever made up any words — and if I did, thankfully I forgot about them :)

That grapefruit looks so good! I love citrus — I’d rather have an orange than an apple!

Way to go on the workout! Sounds intense! I have so many staples that I eat everyday…a few are: greek yogurt, apples, ORANGES, sweet potatoes, bananas, and salads!

I’m allergic to those same raw fruits! It was a sad day when I discovered I could no longer eat peaches which were my favorite. I eat a piece of dark chocolate every day with my coffee.

Even though it gives my tummy the rumblies, I have Greek Yogurt every single day with a side of Lactaid (ha, ha!) I also have my daily apple, handful of almonds, and some type of granola to go along with it. it’s the perfect lunch!

Haha, funches. Well, it should mean something!

I make up words all the time—most of them are just dumb, or variations of a real word!

The pumpkin green smoothie (minus the brain freeze!) sounds great!

I eat an apple every day. I love the varieties and they can be put in meals or eaten as dessert. I learned this when living abroad where “postre” dessert is actually fruit. Cake and other goodies are rare treats.

Now I was thinking it was going to be fun lunches, not a last name!

I love red grapefruit. Instead of cutting it in half I’ve been peeling it like an orange and eating it that way. Works perfetctly!

Nut butter…every day! :D

I don’t really make up words, but recently a friend brought something to my attention: I add -age to the end of a lot of words, ie. food-age, plate-age, phone-age. At first, I was like “really? where did that come from?” Then I realized the other day that my dad does the same thing! Haha!

I don’t think I have ever had a Grapefruit before. Since it effects my mom’s Thyroid medicine, we don’t buy them. Would you suggest I get a couple so I can try them? Or do you prefer Oranges over them. ;)

xoxo

Sometimes grapefruits can be super sour…I wouldn’t want you to try them and get traumatized! Maybe try one and if it’s sour…PROMISE you’ll try another.
