Rocky Run

Hello! How’s your weekend going? I was in a bit of a slump this past week, but I’m putting it behind me and I’m determined to make this week fabulous. Starting with a run…

4 mile run + 1.5 mile walk

I felt like I was dragging a big bag of rocks behind me the entire time. My breathing was heavy and my legs felt tired. I can’t say I was tired from exercising too much since I’ve been taking rest days left and right lately. I can’t blame it on the weather either since it was beautiful out and not too windy.

I can say it’s because I’ve been eating poorly this week. Eating more processed food, eating way too much sugar, and uhh just eating way too much in general (especially at night!). I really wasn’t surprised that I was feeling so heavy today during my run. I need to eat better so I can run better!

Even if it was a bit of a toughie, I felt a million times better after my run. Yippee!

Just like that.

Post workout, I chugged a Pumpkin Pie Smoothie. I added a scoop of Very Green powder to the usual mix.

I also had a piece of toast with sunflower seed butter and banana slices.

A little later, I made a salad of cucumbers, mini peppers, sausageless sausage, and Champagne Vinaigrette.

This dressing is a new (and new to me) product from Trader Joe’s. I’ve only had champagne vinaigrette at restaurants so I was excited to see this on the shelf. It wasn’t bad but it did taste a little like honey mustard, which I’m not the biggest fan of.

On the side, I had part of a habanero lime tortilla.

I finished with a small bowl of toasted pecans.

I’m currently watching the Masters Golf Tournament on TV. Taking a golf course in college definitely made me better understand and appreciate the sport. Speaking of golf, it’s been forever since I’ve been to the driving range.

Anyways, enjoy the last few hours of your weekend! Catch ya later!

Tell me: Do you like to watch/play golf? Which foods do you eat or not eat to exercise better?

I am sure thats how I am gonna be feeling after being off running for 2 weeks (cause of an injury)…..even though I am excited for my first post injury run I know its gonna be a toughie!

That dressing sounds delish!

I think being tired makes me eat weirder than normal (*cough* a few bags of Beanitos in a few days *cough*), and the more exhausted I get, the more I eat, the less healthy I eat, and the less I can do at the level I want to (exercise-wise and otherwise) as a result! Thanks for the reminder that I can and need to get back on track ;)

I felt that way on my run today too…I swear its because it was TOO warm. We went from 30s-40s to 70 so fast, I was deathly thirsty 30min into it!!

My workouts definitely suffer when I’m not eating well! I workout every day, so I make it a top priority to eat clean.

I’m not a fan of golf, probably because I just dont understand it!

I try to eat healthy in general, not just for running, but when I do eat a lot of sugar I notice that my motivation to workout declines, and not working out makes me crave sugar. Its a viscous cycle!

I was couch-ridden allll day yesterday (due to laziness/tiredness) and watched it… I actually found it entertaining. Having played Wii golf a lot, I appreciate their efforts a lot, too!

Allie I was a golf caddy when I was abotu 10 years old and I HATED IT — therefore I hate golf. I can’t watch it and I can’t play it. I do like to play mini golf and golf on the Wii but that is about it!

I only like watching The Masters. The other tournaments=nappy time for this girl! :) I try to eat as clean as possible all the time. I can definitely tell I didn’t eat well this weekend because my body feels so icky! When I work out after eating more processed foods and heavier things I feel so heavy, slow, and blah. Alcohol makes me feel that way too!

Everyone has those weeks where we feel sluggish and dragging. Way to start the week off with a run, though! I definitely stay away from sugar and dairy products when I exercise because if I do eat them, I usually end up seeing them again. Bleh!

Your salad looks great!

Oh gosh, eating has such a huge role in how I feel whenI exercise! I just ry to focus on whole foods and then I’m usually good to go!

I have a theory that working out regularly makes you want to eat clean by default because you feel so much better working out. So, keep it up and good eating will follow. naturally. :-D

I used to play golf all the time with my grandpa when I was younger. He bought me my own set of clubs from a garage sale and we would go golfing and then grab lunch after. Now we just go straight to the lunch, lol.

aahh i worked in the golf shop at the Master’s tournament this week! It was like a 90 hour week which has left me utterly exhausted, but it’ll be worth it when my paycheck comes :) my friends met Martin Kaymer and Rory McIlroy (NOT fair). And I gotta say, I used to think golf was the most boring sport in the world to watch, but after being around it all week I really started to get into it and enjoy watching.

As for your run, I think every runner has those days. There are days when I’m fully stocked on carbs and healthy foods and for whatever reason my body is just not feelin’ it. You best thing you can do is to listen to your body and be respectful of what it’s saying… It’ll go back to normal eventually :)

I did almost the exact same workout as you today – 4 mile run + 1 mile walk! I also felt like I was dragging and it can probably be attributed to a weekend of too much eating out + drinking. Here’s to a week of better eating + exercising! :)

I find watching golf to be super boring! :P But I’m kind of interested in learning how to play… but that’s mostly just so that I can go and eat at the restaurant at the golf club haha!

I sometimes have off running days like that too and I can never quite pinpoint the reason. You had some great eats today though so hopefully your next run will be better! :D

The way I eat has a huge effect on my runs! I used to not eat enough to fuel my runs- now I eat too much, and I can feel it the next day!
