5 miles outta nowhere!
The very first thing I did when I woke up was peek out the window to see whether or not a run was gonna happen. I saw leaves blowing vigorously left and right and thought nuh uh, no way. Then I checked the weather and saw that the next 3 days would be rain rain and more rain (read: plenty of indoor gym time), so I laced up my sneaks and braved the 20 MPH winds.
It’s a miracle I didn’t end up in the land of Oz!

And you know what? It was one of the best runs I’ve had this “season.” It totally blew me away! Ironic, since I was just saying the other day that running hasn’t been getting easier for me as quickly as I’ve hoped.
Well, today I stepped it up! I ran 5 miles and walked 1.5 miles. My pace was a little bit slower than normal but that’s because I attacked the hills!

I ran up ~4.5 out of the 6 monster hills and it felt fab-u-lous. Don’t get me wrong, it was still a tough run but I felt more in the groove today, if ya know what I mean.
So glad I decided to run after all. Don’t ever let a little wind get in your way!
I’m pretty sure I got myself a cute little shin sleeve tan too. Hott stuff.

I came back, stretched and a did a few ab exercises before putting together lunch. My food supply is a bit low right now so I didn’t have too many options to choose from.

I went with smoked salmon and a whole egg sandwiched between an Ezekiel English muffin.

Along with my daily orange.

Septuplets!

While writing up this post, I polished off the Cocoa Goodness Love Grown Foods granola. There are supposed to be chocolate chips in there but somebody picked them all out loooong ago
.

I used the very last bit as a topping for my banana soft serve, which is basically frozen bananas processed/blended with a splash of almond milk until smooth.

We’re off to Costco now to stock up on everythang! A new coupon book just came and it has a bunch of stuff we need like allergy medicine and candy vitamins.

Fingers crossed they have good samples today.
Tell me…the highlight of your weekend!

yay for good runs! It’s always such a good feeling when you finally get a good one in.
How do you like your shin sleeves? I’ve debated whether to use them or not for awhile.
My spare cat had kittens!!! YAY!
Congrats on the run
Freya….your spare cat?
Hahaha
Hooray for an awesome run! That is always a fabulous feeling! And that ezekiel muffin looks yummy- I am still yet to try those. Hope the Costco run goes well
Highlight of my weekend- getting my GARDEN in this morning!
its windy as ever hear too!
Love Grown Granola is so addicting! Im trying to save and savior it! So good though!!
Good job on the run! It always feels so go after rustling up the motivation to go. Also, those orange slices look amazing all lined up like that. I might go cut one up myself!
Mmmm…the smoked salmon/egg/ezekiel bread looks delish!
Highlight of my weekend was my 10km run yesterday morning. It’s been about 1.5 yrs since I’ve done that distance (after a torn meniscus). Even got to watch the sun rise! Can’t say I tackled hills though. My “run” up them was more of a crawl. haha. You’re an inspiration!
Haha, as soon as I read ‘Costco coupon book’ I literally stood up and checked the side of my fridge to see if my dad had put it there! I get so giddy looking through it
I’m going to try some candy vitamins too!
Hoorayyyy for your awesome run!
The highlights of my weekend have been my outdoor runs and the french toast I had for breakfast with homemade bread and homemade maple syrup.
I love Costco coupon books!
I’ve had a terribly lame weekend (physics and chemistry tests to cram for), but the highlight came earlier at lunch when I made your recipe for egg salad using Greek yogurt– such a good idea & soupa yummy and easy! I love me some egg salad (:
Almost forgot about that one! Best of luck on those tests.
Sweet tan line!
Hope you find some goodies at Costco!
I just got back from cotsto! I love it when the new coupon book comes in the mail – this month those chocolate kirkland calcium chews are on sale – they are THE BEST!
I’m so glad you had a great run – woo!
My highlight this weekend has to be the hike my husband and I did yesterday. Gorgeous views and great trails!
That orange looks so fresh and delicious!
Great job on your run!
Highlightof my weekend — having my sister spend the day and night over here — watching movies and just talking.
Love your shin sleeve tan! When I was in middle/high school playing soccer, I was always sporting the shinguard tan. Seriously stylish stuff right there!!
Woop woop! I love having successful exercise days
Even though you say you’re low on food, you’ve totally made do with your options I’d say, haha! Mmm soft serve and ‘nola – amazng!
Congrats on your good run. It’s such a good feeling isn’t it?!
The highlight of my weekend was lunch today. I rarely go out for lunch so it was a fun change and I went with my fiance!
Enjoy your Costco trip!
The highlight of my weekend was SUPPOSED to be Costco but I went at 4pm and they had all the sample stations closed down!!! I still got froyo though and that made it way better
Here’s a tip I learned for running uphill – don’t lean forward too much and use your core to keep upright. Roll through the ball of your foot to spring off your toes instead of doing a full footstep. The only thing that makes it easier to run uphill is doing it more often, so good job for tackling them!!!
We went too late too…only got ONE sample! Tragic. Thanks for the uphill running tips. I try to run on the balls of my feet going uphill but I think it’s making me metatarsal hurt!!
Great job!! I think banana soft-serve is one of the most decadent and simple treats known to mankind. My weekend has been fabulous! I have been nonstop all day attacking the chores around my house! Unfortunately, I have yet to touch my homework. :-/
I’m lovin’ the tanlines. My Chaco tanlines are starting to form! lol
Homework Shmomework! Senioritis isn’t in full force for you?
Unfortunately, I do have it, and that’s why I have so much homework now! Lol!!
I went and stocked up at costco yesterday. The coupons weren’t out yet. ::tear::
I meant to say the samples weren’t out yet.
The highlight of my weekend was running my very first half marathon in under 2 hrs! wind, rain, lightning and all
andd having my parents fly down from NY to come see me
Congrats! I can’t believe you ran in lightning! Glad you’re alive
I so need to get some smoked salmon. It’s so expensive though!
Get it from Costco!
Love that Coco Granola. Now I just need to get myself to Banana Soft Serve to go with it.
Congrats — I love those “in the groove” runs! I had a tough run today, but in the end, I was glad I did it
I feel like the wind makes it extra hard… I was panting by the end!
The highlight of my weekend was definitely getting to baptize my first baby! I was ordained last week and just happened to schedule a baptism this weekend. It was amazing! And the baby was precious.
my cousins bridal shower!
Yay for the great run! That’s always such an amazing feeling.
The highlight of my weekend was making dinner with my friend and then studying together… which really just turned into 3 hours of talking haha.
Such purty oranges! Every time I visit your blog I start craving oranges and granola. Yummmm! Glad you had an awesome run!
Great job on the run girlie! And if those winds were ANYTHING like what we had around here, I bow down to you! I swear I almost got knocked flat the other day by the crazy wind we were getting!
Yay for candy vitamins! So jealous of your Costco!
Awesome job attacking those hills!
Nice going on your run! After ages, I finally had a fabulous run today- it just seemed so easy and I didn’t feel like stopping once! Love banana soft serve, I bet that granola would have made a great topper!
Hehe, girl, you do like your oranges!
how do you get your eggs like that?! they are peeerrrrfect.
I just wanted to let you know that out of all the food blogs I read, yours is really a winner! I spent my freshman year struggling with an ED, and your blog has really helped me delete any remaining negative thoughts. You eat so healthy and have such a great attitude towards food/life!!
Thank you, Celeste! That means a lot to me. Thank you for reading LLE.
I had to laugh about polishing off the chocolate chips. Guilty of the same in my vanilla almond crunch. Glad you had a great run! I’m hoping to do one lter, but even the wind is humid right now.
