Blew Me Away

5 miles outta nowhere!

The very first thing I did when I woke up was peek out the window to see whether or not a run was gonna happen. I saw leaves blowing vigorously left and right and thought nuh uh, no way. Then I checked the weather and saw that the next 3 days would be rain rain and more rain (read: plenty of indoor gym time), so I laced up my sneaks and braved the 20 MPH winds.

It’s a miracle I didn’t end up in the land of Oz!

And you know what? It was one of the best runs I’ve had this “season.” It totally blew me away! Ironic, since I was just saying the other day that running hasn’t been getting easier for me as quickly as I’ve hoped.

Well, today I stepped it up! I ran 5 miles and walked 1.5 miles. My pace was a little bit slower than normal but that’s because I attacked the hills!

IMG_3080.jpg

I ran up ~4.5 out of the 6 monster hills and it felt fab-u-lous. Don’t get me wrong, it was still a tough run but I felt more in the groove today, if ya know what I mean.

So glad I decided to run after all. Don’t ever let a little wind get in your way!

I’m pretty sure I got myself a cute little shin sleeve tan too. Hott stuff.

IMG_3088.JPG

I came back, stretched and a did a few ab exercises before putting together lunch. My food supply is a bit low right now so I didn’t have too many options to choose from.

IMG_3099.JPG

I went with smoked salmon and a whole egg sandwiched between an Ezekiel English muffin.

IMG_3109.JPGIMG_3102.JPG

Along with my daily orange.

IMG_3103.JPG

Septuplets!

IMG_3108.JPG

While writing up this post, I polished off the Cocoa Goodness Love Grown Foods granola. There are supposed to be chocolate chips in there but somebody picked them all out loooong ago :) .

IMG_3113.JPG

I used the very last bit as a topping for my banana soft serve, which is basically frozen bananas processed/blended with a splash of almond milk until smooth.

IMG_3120.JPG

We’re off to Costco now to stock up on everythang! A new coupon book just came and it has a bunch of stuff we need like allergy medicine and candy vitamins.

IMG_3121.jpg IMG_3122.jpg

Fingers crossed they have good samples today.

Tell me…the highlight of your weekend!

yay for good runs! It’s always such a good feeling when you finally get a good one in.

How do you like your shin sleeves? I’ve debated whether to use them or not for awhile.

Good job on the run! It always feels so go after rustling up the motivation to go. Also, those orange slices look amazing all lined up like that. I might go cut one up myself!

Mmmm…the smoked salmon/egg/ezekiel bread looks delish!

Highlight of my weekend was my 10km run yesterday morning. It’s been about 1.5 yrs since I’ve done that distance (after a torn meniscus). Even got to watch the sun rise! Can’t say I tackled hills though. My “run” up them was more of a crawl. haha. You’re an inspiration!

Haha, as soon as I read ‘Costco coupon book’ I literally stood up and checked the side of my fridge to see if my dad had put it there! I get so giddy looking through it :) I’m going to try some candy vitamins too!

The highlights of my weekend have been my outdoor runs and the french toast I had for breakfast with homemade bread and homemade maple syrup.

I love Costco coupon books!

I’ve had a terribly lame weekend (physics and chemistry tests to cram for), but the highlight came earlier at lunch when I made your recipe for egg salad using Greek yogurt– such a good idea & soupa yummy and easy! I love me some egg salad (:

The highlight of my weekend was lunch today. I rarely go out for lunch so it was a fun change and I went with my fiance!

Enjoy your Costco trip!

The highlight of my weekend was SUPPOSED to be Costco but I went at 4pm and they had all the sample stations closed down!!! I still got froyo though and that made it way better :)

Here’s a tip I learned for running uphill – don’t lean forward too much and use your core to keep upright. Roll through the ball of your foot to spring off your toes instead of doing a full footstep. The only thing that makes it easier to run uphill is doing it more often, so good job for tackling them!!!

We went too late too…only got ONE sample! Tragic. Thanks for the uphill running tips. I try to run on the balls of my feet going uphill but I think it’s making me metatarsal hurt!!

Great job!! I think banana soft-serve is one of the most decadent and simple treats known to mankind. My weekend has been fabulous! I have been nonstop all day attacking the chores around my house! Unfortunately, I have yet to touch my homework. :-/

I’m lovin’ the tanlines. My Chaco tanlines are starting to form! lol
