Take Back Your Health {Giveaway}

in Fitness, Giveaway, Lunch

<—- Do you like my new headshot? I clean up well, huh? I took it all by myself, which is a lot harder than it sounds without a remote control! I had to take one for my dad and I figured I’d take one for myself too while I was at it. I also finally changed my outdated Twitter photo, which was from ~2.5 years ago!

Screen shot 2011-08-09 at 2.13.21 PM.png

So I didn’t end up driving down to Charlottesville this morning. Vacation was extended one more day due to a shift switch and I’ll actually be driving down tomorrow morning.

I took advantage of my last last day of vacay by going for a run.

My twisted ankle felt okay to run and I didn’t feel a smidgen of pain the entire 4 miles! Hallelujah. I haven’t run that far since the spring and it felt absolutely wonderful.

IMG_8304.jpg

I made sure to stretch for a long looooong time afterwards.

[You know you're no longer 15 years old when you're comfortable posting photos of yourself sans makeup and dripping sweat for thousands to see...]

But no, this will not be my new headshot :) .

IMG_8310.jpg

After stretching, I immediately wolfed down ice cold pineapple crowns! I needed sugar…

IMG_8327.jpg

For lunch I made a giant salad with romaine, avocado, a fried egg, a TJ’s tofu veggie burger and pita chips.

IMG_8329.jpg

I really wanted pasta but my stomach made it clear to me it was not waiting for water to boil. So pita chips it was!

IMG_8333.jpg

There are few things in this world that go together quite like ketchup and spicy brown mustard. Well, eggs and veggie burgers are a close second.

IMG_8335.jpg IMG_8334.jpg

Alrighty, I’ve got my work cut out for me this afternoon. I’ll leave you with this…

Take Back Your Health Conference Ticket Giveaway

TBYH-topBanner.jpg

I was recently invited to attend the Take Back Your Health Conference taking place October 22-23 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, VA. It just so happened that I stumbled across their website a couple weeks beforehand and made a mental note to try to make it there. What a coincidence!

The conference sounds like it will be a great learning experience for all. I’m looking forward to learning how to improve my health and prevent disease. While I consider myself fairly healthy now, I know I have to watch out for diseases running on both sides of my family that may show up in the future. Speakers at the conference will include: Dr. John Douillard, Andrea Beaman, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Dr. Felix Liao, Victoria Moran, Stephanie Hall, Tonia Hugus, Robin Shirley, Jason Wrobel, and Sally Fallon Morell.

I’ve been given one ticket to giveaway to a LLE reader. Simply leave a comment on this post telling me why you’d like to attend Take Back Your Health. I will choose a random winner Friday 8/12 at 7 PM EST. ***Keep in mind the conference ticket does not include travel/living arrangements. You can also sign up on the website (at the top right) for information regarding conference discounts if you’d like.

Good luck!

I would totally be interested in this, especially since I seem to be having a hard time making the best healthy choices lately. This could be good motivation….and I live nearby so wouldnt have to make any arrangements.

What an opportunity! I would love to learn more about taking back health – since I have adapted healthy changes into my life, I have had lots of friends, relatives and colleagues interested in things I learn – this would be a perfect chance to share lessons from respected professionals (Dr. Joel Fuhrman, especially!)

I would love to attend. Why? I am an accountant living the ‘professional’ life who is an aspiring fitness competitor and potential personal trainer. I would love to meet people who have the opportunity to make this their lives!

I would absolutely love to attend this conference. After a back injury forced me to take a hiatus from exercise for many months I am easing back into an active lifestyle. I would love to have an opportunity to learn more about disease prevention and actively taking back my health. Also, I live in DC :D

This conference actually sounds really interesting — I’d love to learn more not just for my own health, but to educate my family, too. Plus I’m always up for learning new things. It’s definitely something I miss about school…

I would love to go because my family is SO dedicated to health. I have generations of my family that were missionaries in Oman and India, all across the world building hospitals and taking care of those who are diseased. My *preventative* health practices keep me from getting those in the first place!

I would love attend this conference. As I’ve gotten more into the healthy living world, I’ve become really interested in the medical aspects of how things we do/eat/put into our bodies can really have an effect on our health. I would love to learn more! Plus, it’s just a hop, skip and a jump away from me in Culpeper!

1) I have been working a lot and recently gave up my yoga class (classes offered on work campus)because I have too much work to focus on
2) I believe in the importance of treating your body and mind well for longevity and for the sake of everyone around me
3) I want an excuse to do something on my own and grow!
Thank you!

Being that I couldn’t go to HLS due to a guilt trip from my Mom about not being home for my birthday, this would be a great replacement (and birthday gift! ;) ) I am going to school for nutrition and exercise science, so I think a lot of the info I could learn would be beneficial!

xo.
