My Country Music Playlist

in Music

I’m sort of a country music newb. I didn’t start listening to it until I went off to college in the South. And it wasn’t until this past spring when I really started to listen to it (all day long) and fall in love with it.

I love that each song tells a story. I love that I can relate to said stories. I love that I can figure out the lyrics without guessing. I love that the music doesn’t give me a migraine.

…and now I desperately want to visit Nashville.

These are my favorite country songs at the moment (in no particular order):
.
  • More LIke Her By Miranda Lambert
  • Heart Like Mine By Miranda Lambert
  • Who Are You When I’m Not Looking By Blake Shelton
  • Take a Back Road By Rodney Atkins
  • Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not By Thompson Square
  • Knee Deep By Zac Brown Band
  • Whatever It Is By Zac Brown Band
  • Chicken Fried By Zac Brown Band
  • Dirt Road Anthem By Jason Aldean
  • Country Girl By Luke Bryan
  • There’s Your Trouble By Dixie Chicks
  • Toes By Zac Brown Band
  • Barefoot Blue Jean By Jake Owen
  • I Won’t Let Go By Rascal Flats
  • Storm Warning by Hunter Hayes
  • Wanna Take You Home By Gloriana
  • Staying’s Worse Than Leaving By Sunny Sweet
  • You and Tequila By Kenny Chesney
  • I Got You By Thompson Square
  • Remind Me By Brad Paisley + Carrie Underwood
  • Laughed Until We Cried by Jason Aldean
  • The House That Built Me By Miranda Lambert
  • Enchanted By Taylor Swift

Most of these come on Today’s Country Radio regularly, an awesome Pandora station!

My favorite one from the list (this week) is Are you Gonna Kiss Me Or Not By Thompson Square. I tried embedding the video here, but Youtube won’t let me. It’s worth clicking over though, I promise.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Tell Me: Are you a country music fan? If not, what kind of music do you listen to?

T-swift is about the only country I’ll listen to! I love her but the rest I have a hard time getting into! I am more of a rock and roll girl :)

4 Krissy @ Shiawase Life August 31, 2011 at 9:32 am

I don’t mind country but don’t actively seek it out either. I like T. Swift’s music but I don’t really consider it very country-ish.

Or was it Taylor Hicks? HAHAHHA ;)

So weird! Kath just talked about Brad Paisley this morning which made me launch into this whole diatribe about country music on her blog! Haha. I recently just got into Zac Brown Band and love it. I’m also a sucker for a good Carrie Underwood song :)

Love this playlist! Sometimes all I want to do is listen to country music! I saw Miranda Lambert in concert and she was great! I love all her music. Have you ever listened to the Civil Wars? They’re kind of country and so so good! I Think you’d like them.

Reply

13 Allie August 31, 2011 at 11:02 am

You did? Cool!

I haven’t listened to the Civil Wars…I’m going to check them out now. Thanks.

You should definitely listen to Sugarland. I consider them to be more country-pop – kind of like Taylor Swift. Their songs “Stuck like Glue”, “Settlin’”, and “All I Want To Do” are all phenomenal!

Check out Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, and Trace Adkins!

I LOOOOVE Lady A, but I have their 2 latest albums and have listened to them ad nauseum!! I do like Sugarland, somehow they missed the list :) . Next time! Thanks for the recs.

Try listening to “crazy girl” by Eli young band (?)
My friend and her husband danced to this song as their first dance at their wedding. Very sweet

I LOVE country music it is all that I listen too! I like it because there is an actually story or point to the music and not just a bunch of garbage like I feel some other genres are!

I was the same way! I never listened to country music until college in Delaware. Then I moved to Virginia, and now Texas. The further South, the more country music you hear!

I love Take a backroad by Rodney Atkins. And I’m a sucker for anything by Taylor Swift. Check out Randy Rogers Band. He is Texas country and not too mainstream. But I think you’d love it.

I never got into country (except ones that make it to the adult top 40), but since I’m (re-)learning the guitar now, I should familiarize myself with these. I’m mostly a rap girl.

OMG I love love love country which is super weird for a native new yorker! (at least from the downstate nyc region). We don’t have a single country music radio station in new york city or long island.

Don’t forget Lady Antebellum..they are one my favorites!! and Brad Paisley, and Sugarland, and Rodney Atkins, and Trace Atkins, and Eric Church, and Luke Bryan!

I go back and forth with Country — I’ll listen to it every day for months on end, and then I’ll decide to listen to something else. There are some Country songs that I just love and cry every time I hear them.

My family owned a Country-Western store most of my life (boots, saddles, cowboy hats–the whole 9 yards) so I’m definitely a fan. :) Rascall Flatts’ earlier stuff is some of my favorite music ever! I’m also a devoted George Straight fan (I used to play “Check Yes or No” endlessly until my family got sick of it. Haha.)

32 Shaya (Eye Girl Eats) August 31, 2011 at 12:53 pm

i listen to country incessantly while I study. I think it’s because it’s soothing, and you can’t really dance to it so I’m not bopping in my seat :)

Have you heard the new Lady Gaga song, “You and I”? It’s totally country and I’m really into it :)

I love anything Dixie Chicks, Carrie Underwood, and I love the song ‘Boondocks’ by Little Big Town!

I love Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift, Gloriana, and the list goes on. You should check out Whitney Duncan. She’s one of my favorite country music artists.

I love that both you and Kath posted about Country Music today (and that Mama Pea is a listener AND that I heard “Remind Me” on my way to work. this morning!!!!) I’m a newer fan of the music as well. And while I enjoy living in the big city, listening to country makes me want to sell my Volkswagen, buy a truck and a pair of cowboy boots and drink beer outside :)

I like a variety of music. I love country music when I am in the mood to relax and some of my favorites are Eric Church and Blake Shelton. Now when I am going to work out that is a different story–I am all about the rap in that case. A gangsta beat really gets me going. lol.

That’s too funny, I just read Kath’s post where she mentioned country/Brad Paisley!

I’ve never really given true country music much of a chance, but I do love Americana music, which I find has a slight twang and bluesy feel to it. Other than that, I love alternative music and solo male artists like Jack Johnson and John Mayer.
