Sleepy Saturday

in Fitness, Lunch

The forecast for this weekend called for rain, rain and more rain. It’s one thing to run in warm rain, but when the temperature drops 20 degrees overnight and the trees outside are getting blown over, it’s most definitely treadmill time.

I ran 5 miles in ~47 min. at a 0.5 incline. I was sure I’d die of boredom by mile 2, but it wasn’t as dreadful as I had envisioned. Dare I say it was enjoyable.

The time actually zoomed by! I lucked out that CMT (Country Music Television) was playing the top 20 music videos from this past week.

I threw in some speed intervals and by the end, it looked like I had actually gone running in the rain. I was soaked from head to toe. Note to self: bring a towel next time.

Since I was already at the gym, I finished up with a round of leg weights.

Sooooo guess what!

While eating lunch yesterday, I bit down on my fork and chipped my front tooth. Seriously?!

Notice how the tooth I chipped is slightly longer than the tooth to the right (how weird)? Since it’s not a huge chip, I’m hoping my dentist can just file down the chipped tooth until it’s even with the other one. This would happen to me.

On a brighter note, Halloween Z Bars are back!

It’s decent. The Spooky S’mores one is better though. I wonder why they changed it.

I keep thinking it’s December 1st today and not October 1st. It’s dark, dreary, and cold outside. Definitely a day for hot tea, split pea soup and fuzzy slippers.

If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go curl up on the couch and read my marathon running books.

I’m so not ready for winter.

I’m so sorry to hear about your tooth..hopefully the dentist will be able to easily repair it!

Great job on your run, and gosh those slippers look so comfortable. I’m so excited that it’s finally chilly enough to wear slippers and socks and pants again! YAY.

Oh that sucks about the chipped tooth, I am sure they can file it down!

I just bough the new cliff bar flavor. It was good but I agree the s’mores are much better. Sorry about your tooth. Hopefully you were eating something good to make it worth the chipped tooth.

Good job on the dreadmill run! Even though I can run 5 outside no problem, 5 on a treadmill seems SO much harder. I’ve never seen the clif halloween flavors – sounds yummy!

I hope your chipped tooth is an easy fix.
I love everything about winter except the lack of daylight hours. Cold and sunny is great, it just doesnt happen nearly enough.

I had a sleepy Saturday too- and even ate a can of that split pea soup from TJ’s! It’s my favorite. Have you ever tried microwaving the Z-bars?! If not you neeeeed to try it next time!
Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say hi and let you know that I still read your fabulous blog! :)

Hey Megan!! It’s so great to hear from you. I’ve microwaved them before…those and Clif Bars. I almost forgot about that though! Thanks for the reminder.

I hope life is going well for you.

I’m sure the dentist will be able to fix your tooth easily. A few years ago I broke my front tooth while at work. I had put a protein bar in the fridge (with the rest of my lunch)- bit down while the bar was still cold, and broke the tooth. Pretty embarrassing.
I agree with you about running (or not running!) in cold rain. That’s just yucky.

I don’t think I would like that kind of weather either. I have a chipped tooth incident, only it was when I was 6. I had gotten my first bike for Christmas, and was sitting on the seat, while it was still by the Christmas tree. I guess I slipped, and fell off the bike, chipping my bottom tooth in the process. It was barely chipped, and the dentist didn’t think it needed to be fixed.

Oh no! I did the exact thing about a month ago. I was watching that show “Take the Money and Run”, and I was so surprised at how easily they convinced this guy to show them where the money was…I bit down on my fork, and my tooth went “crunch”. It wasn’t too obvious, but I took a nail file and smoothed it out. Primitive, yet effective…

You did it yourself?! I might resort to that. I really don’t feel like going to the dentist!

Yes, I was really careful, but I also didn’t have a really bad chip. I don’t know how they handle a broken tooth. They may have a resin or filler or something, as opposed to capping it or if they have to put on a veneer.

I don’t think they have Spooky S’mores anymore because they kept the s’mores flavor year-round. It’s hard to find, but I think I’ve seen them in Target. They should have made a pumpkin flavor!

Yeah I’ve seen them at Target. They’re not quite the same without the orange Halloween wrapper though :)

Yes, another split pea soup fan! One of our dining halls has a soup rotation every few weeks, and I always get super excited when they have split pea soup…but all my friends tease me for it because they think it looks gross! SOOO GOOD THOUGH

Ehhhh to the chipped tooth! I had a corner chip off of one of my front teeth when I was a kid. I got it fixed about 4 years ago – the dentist used some of the same tooth colored bonding material they use to fill cavities & basically created a new corner. It looks completely natural, so hopefully they could do that if filing wouldn’t work. :)

21 Allie October 2, 2011 at 11:19 am

Yeah I thought about that too! Hopefully the filing works, so we won’t have to do that.

Sorry to hear about your tooth…how annoying! Hopefully the dentist can take care of it easily. Have a great rest of the weekend!

Ah man, bummer about the tooth! I’ve never chipped a tooth…does it hurt?

Reply

25 Allie October 2, 2011 at 11:18 am

It hurt initially. Now it hurts a little if I drink cold water. Funny thing is my bottom teeth hurt even though nothing happened to them…?

It got so stinking cold here tonight! Where did the mild days go?! I wanted at least a week of 80*-85* days!!!!
……Oh chipped teeth! Ugh! Looks like it should’t be a huge problem for you though, so that’s good news. (This summer the husband was trying to do a back flip and kicked me in the face. Chipped a back tooth because he hit my jaw. $1,283 down the drain and 3 dr’s visits later. Ugh, it had to be capped….) A simple file and you’ll be good as new! :) I”ll cross my fingers that it goes smooth! (no pun intended ;) )

I totally agree—I keep feeling as though we are in the middle of winter when really fall has just begun!

Sometimes when I get on the treadmill, I am like, this is going to be a while, just breathe. And then it goes by in an instant! Love that! :)

Allie, Your teeth are beautiful!! I can see you take care of them, along with the rest of your body. I would wait a week and see how you feel, then make a decision… It was a good day for book reading, or some football on TV. :-)
