Since we last spoke, I’ve accomplished quite a bit…
- The bridal shower…attended.
- DIY project/present…started AND completed <–HUGE relief. I’m tellin’ ya, don’t decide to start a messy project requiring all materials you don’t have at the very last minute. That being said, I can’t wait to show you all what it is after Christmas. So worth the scrambling around!
- Christmas shopping…done! Including a present to myself. Wee!
- Felt Christmas tree…finished.
- 8 miler…run and done.
- Holiday party…enjoyed.
I’ve got another full day with the kids and then Santa will be here!

Today, I went on another run around the [not my] neighborhood. Except this time, I stumbled upon a beautiful pond with a 0.25 mile paved loop around it.

The loop led to a TRAIL!!! Hallelujah! It was a little scary not knowing where it would spit me out, but I just ran with it. Heh.

I ran around the hilly neighborhood some too for a total of 8 miles.

Can you believe I ran in SHORTS AND A T-SHIRT?! It was 60* F and sunny…seriously? Santa is going to melt in that suit of his. And his sleigh is going to get all scratched up without any snow to land on. He’ll need ice cream, not cookies!
I’m lovin’ the warm weather though. Sorry, Santa. I hope your sleigh has A/C.

I had fun running with the ducks by the pond. They reminded me of the ducks in Turkey!!

Can we talk about this pelican? I ran past him about 4 times.
1st time: I wonder if he’s going to fly away when I get close. Um, nope.
2nd time: Wow, this bird is really not afraid of humans. How strange.
3rd time: His (her?) butt must really hurt sitting on that stick! Wait, that’s his leg. He only has one leg?
4th time (stopped to take the photo): Oh, it’s fake. You’re a genius, Allie.

Ohh the things that go through my head while running.

Dun dun dun dun…dun dun dun dun…dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun. That was me singing the wedding processional.
Thank you. Thank you very much.

I attended my very first bridal shower yesterday for my good ol’ friend Eliza. Isn’t she adorable? We go way back. Eliza and I became close friends freshman year of high school when we had almost all of our classes together. We were also on the same cheerleading squad.
It was so nice to catch up! I can’t believe this girl is getting married next week (!!).

The shower was held at the most beautifully decorated house. I wanted to pack up the kitchen and take it home with me, granite countertops ‘n’ all. There was also the most legit train set choo choo-ing under the piano.

The hostess provided a lovely spread of food, including not one, but two salads.

One had almonds and the other had pecans. Be still, my beating heart!

An assortment of sweets, some homemade and some from Trader Joe’s (yes!!).

I tried them ALL! ‘Tis the season.

I also got to see another old friend of mine, Sutton. You remember Sutton from last year, right? I went to her Architectural Digest-worthy home for a holiday shindig.

Presents!

Eliza received a ton of kitchen stuff. Um, I want dish towels too! When is it my turn?! Um, at this rate? Hmmm…

Congrats, Eliza!

I promised I’d show you the TWO Pinterest felt Christmas trees I created with the kids when we were all finished. Or when I finished, I should say
.
TA DAAAA!!

Here we’ve got Santa and a blue-faced elf. I guess he’s tired from making all those presents.

Of course, Santa didn’t come empty handed. Though his sack of gifts is awfully small, dontcha think? TWSS!

Snowman and a gingerbread boy.

It’s now past midnight and I’m entering a post-holiday party food coma. I gotta go wrap some presents and then hit the hay. More on the party later. Fun times.
Tell me: How’s your week going?!
I feel so out of the loop since I’ve been away from the computer! Update me, wouldya please?

You were a cheerleader?! That’s very cool. I can see you doing it! I was a cheerleader for peewee football..but that’s about as far as it went for me.
Congrats to your friend! Isn’t it so crazy when people we know start getting married?! I went to my friend’s bachelorette party last year and it felt so weird!
I love taking unfamiliar paths when I’m running – it adds some excitement to my run!
Hahahha I love that blue faced elf! He looks so downcast…:P
And omgshh I’m in the same boat as you are, I thought that pelican was real!!! I always fall for those things -_-” I hope you have one beautiful day Allie~
Eat, drink and be Merry, Allie! What did you get yourself for Christmas? girlfriend, I wonder
You out of the Loop? Doubt it .
Photography stuff!
Hahahaha the pelican.
you are so funny.
And the twss….
That darn pelican!! I felt SO dumb.
Hey Allie! If it makes you feel any better, that was a fake heron, not a pelican. The reason you should feel better is that up here in Victoria, British Columbia, we have loads of herons and they actually do hang out for aeons on one leg, and are totally not scared of anything (though I once saw a bald eagle that had caught a heron who was probably wishing he’d tried a little harder to get away).
There’s my nerdy note of the day. I don’t know why I know these things.
Hahaha yes, two people corrected me when I ran with the not-pelican again a couple weeks ago. I’ve got so many bird nerd readers
. Love it.
