You lose some…you WIN some!
(Tarheel fans, you may want to skip this post.)

Those of you who care probably witnessed it and those of you who don’t care, well, don’t care. It’s okay, I understand. No hard feelings.
I’ll summarize. You know, in case you’re talking to some cute guy today and need something sports-related to impress him.

2-ish minutes left in the game. Duke was down by 10 points. I had pretty much given up all hope for a win. I was actually yawning and tempted to go to bed bake something (!!). There was just no way we were gonna make a comeback given the way we were playing.
By some miracle, we caught up and before we knew it, we were down by just 2 points with less than 10 seconds to go.
….….cardiac arrest…….

A buzzer beater 3 pointer by my [freshman] hero, Austin Rivers, sealed the deal.

We WON!
The ending of last night’s game may have been more exhilarating than the National Championship win my senior year of college. I mean, that was huge, but this was just in-freaking-SANE.
People were talking smack about us leading up to the game, but we showed ‘em!

And then I spent an hour watching player/coach interviews and scrolling through the Duke Memes Facebook Page with a silly grin slapped across my face.
Thanks for humoring me, y’all. Back to non-basketball posts tomorrow
.

We can no longer be friends. At least not until the next time UNC beats Duke.
As a UNC alum, I definitely did not enjoy last night. But then again, I am (strangely) happy for Austin Rivers.
Until we meet again…
Haha it’s the losses that make the wins so sweet. I know, Austin is just such an innocent kid
. Can’t help but be happy for him.
Until we meet again next month!
LOL love the title pun!
Alternative title was 3 if by Rivers
I am so glad to know that I was not the only one wide awake watching ESPN news. Also, I may or may not be reliving parts of the game at work this morning via ESPN3 on my second computer monitor.
I am working on trying to become “less involved” in my sports fandom – clearly, it is not going well!
Haha no sports fandom is a good thing!
That win was INSANE. Not a Duke fan or anything, but I appreciate good basketball! WooHoo!
I don’t even watch basketball and this post got me excited LOL! I love sports games like that! The more exciting the better!!!
I work at a restaurant with a bar with sports on TV and I thought of you when this happened. What a sweet win
p.s. that first shot with the UNC fan in his sparkly spanks is priceless.
Right?! Duke and UNC fans are cray cray.
I was lame and did not watch the game, but Duke is SO good at 10 point comebacks!!!
Must have been an incredible finish!!
Admittedly, I didn’t watch the end of the game but I saw it on Sportscenter, crazy! Only the toughest, strongest teams can pull off that sort of stuff… great sign for March!
Ahhh can’t wait for the madness. Best month of the year.
This comment has nothing to do with basketball BUUUUT…I’m a long time reader, and I feel like ONLY you would appreciate the fact that I found vegan kefir today. I know from reading your blo, how much you love kefir and I’ve been wanting to try it for so long! I finally have it in my possession. Needless to say, I’m counting down the hours until breakfast in the morning.
It’s the little things….
Cool! Is it coconut milk kefir?
Yes! And I can safely say now that it is delicious. I added it to my smoothie this morning instead of milk and it made it taste like I was drinking CHEESECAKE. A strange statement, but oh so delicious.
Wow, you make basketball seem exciting!!
Congrats on the win!
I’m still recovering from the Super Bowl a little too much to really be in to televised sports again yet, haha =)
YAY for DUKE!
