Health Made Simple {Friday Giveaway: Vitamelts + SOYJOY Bars}

in Giveaway

On some days I get in an excellent variety of fruit, vegetables, and grains. On other days, not so much. Such as the days when I’m on-the-go allllll day long. I’m allergic to a bunch of raw fruits and vegetables, especially the ones that are convenient to pack i.e. apples, pears, peaches, celery, carrots…so weird, I know. This means I end up snacking on a ton of almonds when I’m out and about.

image-257.jpeg image-287.jpeg

Okay, I just really really like almonds. They’re easy to stash in my purse and snack on during meetings. While almonds are high in some vitamins, like vitamin E, it’s low in others.

Lifehack has a great infographic on vitamins—what they do and which foods they are in (click on the link to see a larger version).

vitamin_mineral_inforgraphic3-011.png

I also know my body doesn’t absorb all the vitamins I get from food, so I take vitamin supplements to fill in the gaps. Rather than take all my vitamins at once, I space them out throughout the day to maximize absorption.

Vitamelts are especially convenient because I can just pop ‘em in my mouth whenever wherever. No water needed! Big horse pills make my stomach hurt (even when I take them with food), so these little nuggets are perfect.

My healthy tip is to: laugh more!!! people don’t take their own happiness enough….

whether you can catch a funny film, spend some time with others, or pop open a bottle of wine….laughing and having fun is the best way to good health :) and eating veggies and stuff, but you know.

Healthy tip: Prepare! If you’re prepared or have something written down you’ll most likely do it. I always write down my workout, what I’m going to cook and how much water I drink. Helps me stay on top!

My job has two options: Park in the front by the door, or in the back and walk.

I usually park in the back, unless it’s like a blizzard….then I illegally park in the front. =)

My healthy tip is to take time to food prep. On Sundays I usually spend an hour or so prepping some food such as cutting up veggies, roasting potatoes and/or making brown rice. It really helps me to have healthy food at my finger tips and makes eating good food throughout the week easier.

Reply

32 Heather February 8, 2013 at 10:50 am

My healthy tip is SLEEP!! I get at least 7.5-8 hours a night and it makes a world of difference the next day. I feel alert, I make better food choices, I’m happier, I still have energy for the gym after work. I <3 SLEEP :D

Reply

33 Shelby February 8, 2013 at 11:03 am

My healthy tip is, if you have a busy school or workweek, make lots of food on the weekend! It saves so much time and helps you make good choices during the week.

Another one of my favorites would be to drink a big glass of cold lemon every morning just after waking up. :)

healthy tip(s) i’ve recently been doing and have worked for me!
WORK OUT IN THE MORNING (run, yoga…)
it will help jump-start your mood for the day and leave you feeling good about yourself which leads to better food choices throughout the day.
WEAR YOUR CLEAN WORKOUT CLOTHES TO BED
if you plan on working out in the morning, this will save you time and give you those extra minutes of sleep rather than thinking about what to wear and changing your clothes. plus, you’ll be more likely workout than procrastinate or blow-off the workout.

I use to drink a big glass of water first thing in the morning until i started drinking coffee. :O i also use to foam roll for 20-30 minutes a day and need to start doing both of those regularly again!

My healthy living tip is to have some physical activity every day – walk, run, yoga, or just getting out to play!

My tip to living a healthier lifestyle is to not overthink it so much! Listen to your body, treat it right with good healthy food and exercise and the payoff will be great!!!

Moderation and movement are key to a healthy lifestyle. I try to exercise well 5 days a week and have plenty of movement the other two days. (And with two kids that is always attainable!) And moderation in foods that are not the healthiest choices so you don’t feel deprived and still get yummy treats sometimes. : )

My tip? Don’t shop when you’re hungry B) I buy the most unhealthy food whenever I am super hungry, but when I go to the store after a meal I can think more clearly and buy the healthy food that my body needs and not just junk food that looks tasty at the time! (:

Live a healthy lifestyle by working out at the gym once in awhile.

I drink lots of fluids all day, either water or unsweetened green tea.
Keep healthy snacks on hand, so you have healthy alternatives to junk (dried fruit, nuts, etc).
