Happy Chinese New Year! We used the holiday as an excuse to get the family together for a Peter’s Kitchen feast.

Seafood was the theme. Squid, shrimp, tomato, and onion salad with tortilla chips. Salmon, sea bass, snow peas. Jumbo tiger shrimp.

Last week, I got tired of running on the treadmill and braved the freezing cold for an outdoor run….with my burglar mask, of course. Despite doubling up on gloves and socks, my fingers and toes were completely numb. I never regret a run though and this one was no different. Gloooorious!
.

I’ve also been getting back into yoga. I took a break from going to studio classes last fall when I knew I’d be too busy to take full advantage of a monthly unlimited pass.

I recently redeemed a Groupon for 5 classes at a different power yoga studio and have been rediscovering ALLLLL those little muscles my body forgot about. Especially the core muscles…man oh man ohhhhh man.

Speaking of rediscovering little muscles, I got a kettlebell from Marshall’s last week to help change up my strength workouts (I’ve been loving kettlebell swings!). While Googling kettlebell exercises, I learned it’s actually kettleBELL and not kettleBALL (what I had been saying all along).

When I first realized my silly mistake, I felt like a lost puppy! I couldn’t believe I’d been saying it wrong my whole entire life.

Just like the word “plyometric.” I spent months studying for my personal training certification saying “PYlometric” in my head when it’s actually PLyometric. Talk about feeling dumb.

Anywhoooo…

I got a visit from the Chobani fairy last week! He (fairies can be boys, too) delivered the new flavahs and a cute little spoon.

Banana 2% (my fav of the new bunch), pear 0%, coffee + chocolate, and fig + orange zest. I’m a 2% yogurt gal, so whatever flavor that is always wins.

Oh and I spotted these Pringles in a magazine. Say what?!

How did I not find these?! Can we rewind to the holidays? We must. Did you try these? Were they the most amazing tasting chips ever?

The delicious work meetings/outings continue…

This was my first time ever trying raw oysters. I had eaten cooked oysters before, but never raw. It was good, but I think I prefer the cooked variety.

Lollipop roll! Salmon, tuna, white tuna, real crab and avocado. How cute.

photo 3-18.JPG

I’ve finally identified two of my favorite types of raw fish: mackerel and yellowtail tuna.

photo 2-26.JPG

Dessert was vanilla bean gelato tempura topped with whipped cream and raspberry sauce. The outside was a sweet rice crust!

Something about salads from restaurants are so much tastier. This was an arugula salad with a delicious mix of toppings: roasted pears, bleu cheese, almond slivers, carrots, onions, grilled shrimp w/ balsamic vinaigrette. The combo of nuts and soft cheese is just fab.

That’s all for now! Later, gators.

Tell me: Any words you said wrong for years? What’s your favorite yogurt flavor?

I would love the banana flavour! It will probably take awhile to get to Canada though. I like the lime oikos 2% the best, although the coconut is pretty good too, and the lemon.

The Chobani fairy hasn’t visited me lately. I’m sad!:( I want to try the pear and banana and haven’t seen either around here yet.

Well…I don’t like yogurt at all actually. I’ve tried many types, brands and flavors – they all just taste like spoiled food to me! I eat a lot of light cottage cheese instead (has just as much protein as Chobani) :)

Fig and orange zest sounds divine! I had the pear one a couple weeks ago and loved it! The little bites of pear in the yogurt were just wonderful. My favorite yogurt flavor has to be pineapple. They fit so well together, even better if there’s mango or passion fruit with it too :)

Haha don’t worry I definitely called them kettleballs for a while also. And I got mine at Marshalls too, such amazing prices! The only problem with that store is I always walk out with a bunch of food/food props…

Chobani Black Cherry is my favourite! Although we only got 4 flavours of Chobani in Canada (not anymore though, since they’re no longer selling here), so there are a bunch of flavours I haven’t tried yet. I bet I would love the banana flavour!

Also I haven’t had sushi in more than 3 weeks, which is some kind of record for me. But seeing your pictures just gave me a huge craving! :P

Happy New Year Allie! I am really picky about my Chobani flavors. My first time, I had the fruit in the bottom Chobani variety, and I wasn’t too enthusiastic about it. But the plain ones, and the honey vanilla is really good. And awesome job trying raw oysters. I don’t have the guts to try it yet. It’s something about the rawness and the texture that puts me off.

Hello!!!!
I actually thought it was kettle BALL…oops :) A word I’ve been saying wrong for most of my life include: misogyny. Now, I haven’t used that worse since 10th grade English, but it still gets me every time :)
My favorite yogurt flavor would have to be black cherry. SOO GOOD with brownies! (Or any chocolate, really).

Happy CNY! Love the burglar mask!!! :P And whhhhat? Cinnamon Sugar Pringles? Never heard of them but i love anything cinnamony + sugary, i’ll have to be on the lookout for this next time. I tried raw oysters for the first time last summer and while it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would, i think i prefer the cooked kind also. It was just a little too slimey for my liking. :P
