I’m always looking to change things up when it comes to my strength workouts. I was in need of a break from the usual squats, lunges, and dead lifts, so I looked for a leg workout that involved lighter weights/body weight.
I’ve been wanting to try a barre class for months now, but unfortunately there are no studios around me. I did, however, find a sampler barre dvd last week to try in the comfort of my home. Perfect!
I didn’t have a chair, so i used a clothes drying rack…ha! It was actually a good substitute, because I couldn’t put too much weight on it or it would collapse. Challenging my core, right?
The workout wasn’t strenuous, but I did feel a little burn near the end of sets. I’m sure a studio class would be a better workout. This one was just ~35 minutes. I felt like a graceful ballerina, though I probably didn’t actually look like one!
By the way, I [incorrectly] pronounce barre “bar-ray” instead of just “bar.” Anyone else?
Anywho, last week Peter went to Costco alone and came home with this…
That would be a 2 lb. box of chocolate almond bark, which I have been eating morning, noon and night! The chocolate is silky smooth and those almonds are perfectly roasted.
Chocolate almond bark…breakfast of champions. You don’t have dessert after for breakfast?
Well, looks like I’ll have a good reason next Monday because it’ll be National Chocolate Covered Nut Day. Best day ever. Odwalla is celebrating by offering 5 readers a box of 15 Chocolate Chip Peanut food bars.
