1. A New Neighborhood Run

This morning I set out on a run in my new neighborhood. I had no idea where I was going and had no goal distance in mind. I ran 6 miles in just under 62 min. I tried to find a good loop and ended up getting LOST. It worked out that I found my house right as I was nearing the 6 mile mark.

I was totally prepared to knock on someone’s door and ask to use their phone to call my dad though .

THE HILLS ARE ALIVE HERE!!

I felt like Julie Andrews running along the hills of the Swiss Alps in the opening scene of The Sound of Music. Holy smokes! The hills were so steep and rarely was the path just flat. I’d say half the time the slope was equivalent to a 6-9% incline on the treadmill. Whew wee!!

Despite the crazy hills, I’m really starting to feel like I’m back in the running groove again, finally. I think the cooler weather has helped a lot. More importantly, simply knowing I can power through the the most difficult part of the run for me (at around the 1.5 mile mark), gives me a great deal of confidence.

Running is physical but it’s also mental as well.

***

The last uphill portion of my run left me breathless!

Yeah, I have a gum ball machine. I’m cool like that.

2. New Bath Tub and Shower Curtain

I took an ice bath immediately after coming back (in my new bath tub). My tush is gonna be s-o-r-e tomorrow from all those hills.

Like my new shower curtain? I got it at Homegoods (AKA Wonderland).

3. New (to me) Gym

Yesterday, I went over to the club house to use the gym (my first time!). The machines are older than the ones in the condo gym and don’t have personal TVs, but it is pretty nice and just about a mile away from our house.

My workout:

60 min. elliptical

10 min. upper body strength

10 min. stationary bike

4. Pumpkin Butter

Believe it or not, I bought this jar of McCutcheon’s Pumpkin Butter last year but had to wait until I finished my TJ’s jar to open it. I had a sample of it once and found it was much much better than the TJ’s version (sorry Teej). It’s local too–made in Maryland!

It is much more pumpkiny and less syrupy/sugary than TJ’s pumpkin butter. Meaning, I’ve been eating it straight outta the jar .

This morning, I made a homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte using almond milk, pumpkin butter and cinnamon.

5. New Blender

…not really.

This is our ancient older-than-me blender that is still alive and kickin’. I usually use my Magic Bullet since it’s easier to clean, but it’s still sitting in our old house.

Post run, I made a smoothie using wheatgrass, protein powder, strawberries and banana.

6. New Favorite Snax

I also had a slice of brown rice bread topped with pumpkin butter, Justin’s Maple Almond Butter (free sample), and an Adora Calcium disc (free sample). I’ve been eating this snack almost every day.

Not new to me at all!

I received this jar of Justin’s Maple AB yesterday and I’ve already gone through about 1/3 of the jar. It was one of the first almond butters I tried almost 3 years ago (when I found out I wasn’t allergic to almonds). I will say with confidence that it is my favorite almond butter.

No other brand even comes close.

I’ve also been loving Greek yogurt mixed with eggy oats. The combination of hot grains and creamy cold yogurt is just lovely.

For the eggy oats, I mixed some leftover sweet crepe batter with oats and egg whites and then popped it in the microwave for 2 minutes. I topped the whole bowl with banana and cinnamon.

Clearly, I crave carbs and protein post workout!

7. New Apples!

My mom’s co-worker went apple picking and my mom paid her $9 for this huge bushel. Oh my apples.

I have no idea how these will get eaten up if I don’t bake something with them!

Last but not least….

8. My New Photography Spot!

Welcome to my new photography studio…the outside portion at least.

We got this outdoor table from IKEA, which I’m excited to start shooting on. The deck also has these white pillars that are great for shooting something with trees in the background. I’ve got plenty of chairs to stand on for a bird’s eye view shot .

I also have window sills without those awkward grey things now. Wahoo!

This is where the magic will be happening from now on .

Alrighty, it’s time for me to shower and unpack some more (it never ends!!!). I hope to be back tomorrow with a fun recipe, if all works out as planned!

Reminder: You only have until tomorrow to vote for me and my crepes in the Project Food Blog contest! I need your vote so I have a good excuse to throw a delicious dinner party on Saturday .

I stumbled out of bed this morning and immediately thought of my main man, Mr. Quaker. I opened the pantry door and there he was staring down at me. While I think he’s pretty smokin’ (okay, maybe not), my eyes went straight to that spoon on the box….

I decided to skip the spoon though

Do these really need a ‘best before’ date?

I had ~1.5 cups straight up as a pre-workout snack. Except we all know 1.5 cups of Oatmeal Squares actually means 2 cups. I mean, come on let’s be real.

***

I haven’t gotten a chance to hit up Starbucks for a Pumpkin Spice Crack Latte yet so I decided to make one myself.

Pumpkin butter and a dash of pumpkin pie spice stirred right into my coffee.

[I add cinnamon/pumpkin pie spice directly to my coffee. I've experimented with mixing cinnamon/pumpkin pie spice into coffee grounds before brewing but I've found that it doesn't add as much flavor and takes a lot more spice.]

Plus almond milk for some creaminess.

I also ate a couple handfuls of whole grain tortilla chips before heading down to the gym.

***

Workout:

60 min. elliptical

20 min. full body strength training

Ran up 15 flights of stairs

100 jumping jacks

I’d say I put those morning carbs to good use!

***

Post workout I made another Berry Protein Wheatgrass smoothie. I’ve been on a smoothie kick lately. I think it’s the combination of the heat and our fairly empty kitchen.

I wanted to blend in some spinach, but sadly we were all out. I used this Amazing Grass Berry Superfood packet instead along with some protein powder and fruit.

***

Fry Time!

The other day, my dad and I got a huge bag of okra from the $1 bargain bin at the store (yes, bargain loving runs in the family).

I had one thing in mind…okra fries!!

I also got some parsnips to make parsnip fries.

I didn’t know what to expect with this veggie. While I’m sure I’ve eaten it at a restaurant at some point, I’d never prepared parsnips myself before.

I peeled and cut the parsnips into fry-shapes.

Then I roasted the okra and parsnip slices for about 20-25 min. at 400* F in the toaster oven.

The parsnips tasted just like albino carrots–a tad sweet! They were more fibrous than carrots but had they been orange, I wouldn’t have been able to tell the difference.

The okra fries weren’t as crunchy as I had imagined. I guess they needed some more time in the oven?

I also threw an Amy’s Veggie Burger in the oven for the last 10 min. or so.

Ketchup for dipping.

An off-centered bird’s eye view shot. This was taken blindly! The patio chairs are gone so I had nothing to stand on .

A Cold Giveaway

I brought this Thermos insulated BPA-free water bottle with me to the gym today. It was sent to me for free to review. While I am a room-temperature water girl (I know, I know, ew) I do enjoy cold water when I workout. The double wall vacuum insulation is supposed to keep water cold for 12 hours. I didn’t get to test the full time span but it sure kept me cool during my workout.

I love that it has a one-touch pop open cap and a straw! It makes for easy slurping while working out.

Thermos is offering LLE readers a chance to win their very own Thermos water bottle. Just leave a comment on this post. I will randomly choose a winner tomorrow night.

So much to ketch up on! My mom ran away with my half-written post on her laptop today, hence the delayed post. My laptop just turned 4 years old (which means 80 years old in generation Y/blogger speak) so it’s somewhat dilapidated. Blogging on my mom’s new Macbook Pro is so much easier, especially because it has a built-in camera card reader. That being said, my laptop better last another 80 years because this gal has no pennies to spare!

***

Yesterday was another active day. I started with 60 min. on the elliptical while watching the latest Top Chef DC episode (Go Kelly!!). Later, I played tennis with my dad. I refueled in between workouts with plenty of carbs and protein so I had enough energy to play. If I don’t fuel enough, playing tennis can get very frustrating, very quickly.

Today, I completed another 60 min. on the elliptical and 15 min. of incline walking on the treadmill. I was feeling a bit sore, so I decided to hold off on any strength training.

***

Now for the highlights and lowlights from this past weekend….

Along with Banana S’mores, I had a tasty wrap and some chips.

Leftover Feta Chickpea Tomato Salad with spring mix in a whole grain wrap.

Side of whole grain tortilla chips. The highlight of this meal.

My dad got these from Target and they are fabulous. The ingredients are quite impressive for chips! Quinoa? Brown rice flour? Sunflower seeds?

I also walked over to Target just to browse and of course came back with food…in the form of more carbs!

I got Quaker Oatmeal Squares and Cinnamon Raisin Ezekiel English Muffins. It’s been far too long since I last had these. They are about $1 cheaper from Target than Whole Foods….cha-ching.

I gave myself a pat on the back for getting this cereal. This is my absolute favorite cereal in the whole wide world and to be honest, I’m kinda scared of it. However, it was on sale so I figured what the hey. I don’t like to be scared of food. I don’t want to deprive myself of anything, especially if it’s something I love so dearly. The only way to get over my fear is to embrace it.

It sounds like I’m talking about major life goals…nope, still talking about cereal .

High to the frickin’ light.

Proof that we buy more than just carbs in a box…

I also got this SoBe lifewater from Target. I was drinking it on my walk home when something fell from the bottle into my mouth.

Ummm come again!?!!

THIS!!!!

IN MY MOUTH!!!!

WHAT….IS….THIS!?

Oh my oh my oh my. It was slimy and muddy. Ahhhhh!!! @*($&*@#^&@%#!

Not okay!!!

It came out in one round piece AFTER I finished the whole bottle. I tore it into 2 pieces just to try and figure out what it was…no idea!! Obviously, that was a major lowlight from the weekend. Blegh.

***

Another lowlight? I used up the last of my wheatgrass powder.

No wheatgrass goes to waste over here.

Berry Banana Wheatgrass Protein Smoothie

Cinnamon Raisin Ezekiel English Muffin w/ pumpkin butter. Highlight.

Guava!! My favorite fruit is back–a highlight for sure.

We got 3 bargain guava and 3 regular priced guava yesterday at the store.

3 bargain=$1

3 ‘on sale’ for $1.99/lb=$4.48

Yikes.

My camera’s highlight…

I snapped this photo from our balcony. You can see the Appalachian Mountains in the distance.

So pertyful.

Tell me: What were the highlights from your weekend? I hope you didn’t have any nasty-slimy-discs-in-your-bottle lowlights!

The last couple days have been rather chilly. And by ‘chilly’ I mean 75 degrees, clear blue skies, sunny, a little breezy, and absolutely perfect. It felt like spring when I stepped outside today. It’s supposed to be 97 degrees next week so I’m gonna enjoy it while it lasts!

I finished my most recent library book so I went and borrowed another one by the same author calledThe Undomestic Goddess.

I discovered that I can now borrow back issues of magazines from my library–how cool! I picked up two issues of Health and one of Runner’s World (not that I’ve been running lately!).

***

This morning I polished off a couple foodables in our house. I had my last CREEM with TJ’s Euro yogurt and pumpkin butter.

I also polished off the box of Nature’s Path cereal and added banana chunks and almond milk. I had this bowl x3. I don’t like to pour a huge bowl all at once because I hate soggy cereal. If I pour a little at a time then it’s always crunchy!

After the library, I walked over to TJ’s and the bank. For once, I wasn’t dripping sweat while walking back home. Why can’t it be 75 degrees every day!?

I got Carrot Ginger Oat Bran Muffins. These are hands down my favorite muffin of all time as I’ve mentioned before (especially topped with yogurt and coconut butter!).

I can easily polish off a box in no time!

I chose the biggest one and ate it while polishing off the tub o’ Euro Style yogurt.

It may not look like it in the photo, but these are pretty big muffins!

Polished off in a matter of minutes.

I saw it as a sign to put the muffins in the freezer when I ate half of a 2nd muffin an hour later (!!).

***

Last night, after watching The Next Food Network Star on the elliptical, I had some veggies and squid prepared by Peter’s Kitchen. Veggies included mushrooms, tomatoes and slimy okra .

Seeing as how my eats have been pretty carb-o-rrific today, I think I’m gonna make a King Kong sized salad for dinner…

….and perhaps polish off the 2nd Carrot Ginger muffin!

I woke up, ate some crackers and drank an iced coffee (35% caf and 65% decaf) as a pre-workout snack. I got a major headache from the coffee (really?) and I knew a work out would make it all go away. Getting my butt there was a whole ‘nother story. After a good bit of dawdling I finally dragged myself there. 2 months ago you couldn’t pull me away from the gym and now I have to crawl.

Despite being a bit sore from a few squats and lunges yesterday (!!!) it ended up being a great workout. 2 months ago I was at a point where I never really got sore. Now I do 15 lunges and my legs are cramping. Gotta re-start from somewhere right?

I watched the Men’s Tennis French Open Semifinal game while pedaling. Watching sports always makes a workout more enjoyable!

20 min. elliptical

7 min. treadmill sprint

30 min. elliptical

10 min. arm weights

This time the treadmill sprint brought my <3 rate uppity up. I averaged 159 BPM. Running for just 7 min. can make my <3 rate higher overall. It’s like a permanent boost. I think it helped that I was watching a sport instead of reading my book.

***

Post workout:

Now I’m hesitant to show you this next part. Don’t judge, okay?? Pinky promise?

Toasted tempeh and Greek yogurt + pumpkin butter

(it looks like a rose!)

I said don’t judge!! I know you’re judging. Stop.

Tempeh alone is just alright but once you toast it and dip it in Greek yog + pumkin butter it is FAB-to-the-U-to-the-LOUS.

Snackity: toasted hazels

Then I got a package from Ms. Nora and immediately broke into the dark chocolate bar, obvs.

Dinner started with this guy.

After almost cutting off my finger peeling this jicama, I finally got to it’s dry meat. Boo boo double boo.

I ate this all the time when I studied abroad in Mexico and it was juicy and sweet. This was dry and flavorless. Sad face.

I still had some atop cooked kale and avocado. I added about 2 T of WFs Sesame Soy Dressing to the mix.

My dad made a Seafood Veggie Salad.

Grilled Shrimp

Radish

Tomato

Green Peppers

Corn

Cilantro

Scallions

Dressed with:

Rice Vinegar

EVOO

Salt

Pepper

I had about 2 cups plus ~80% of the shrimp in the bowl . I’m a shrimp monster.

Dessert: More of the above chocolate bar, chocolate chips, toasted hazelnuts and frozen berries.

So what’s the verdict, Judge Foodie?

Remember the alligator jaws from math class? Oh yeah, I know you do. It’s the oldest math trick in the book. Remember actually drawing teeth on your < and > signs to figure out which number was greater, as if it made all the difference? Hmm maybe that was just me. Alrighty let’s get to some Allie-gator math problems, shall we?

Pre-workout: 2 slices of Brown Rice Bread + almond butter. So long, farewell BRB.

Did I just show you a photo of our trash can? I sure did. Photo of trash can > Photo of…toilet?

I also had an Iced Green Tea Latte. It tasted mighty fine.

Kicking my rut in the butt:

30 min. elliptical

5 min. treadmill sprint

25 min. elliptical

15 squats, 20 lunges, 30 calf raises

Not too shabby. Avg heart rate=148 BPM.

In an effort to break out of my workout rut, I brought Garmy to the gym to keep tabs on my heart rate. I’m not sure why I stopped using it her as a heart rate monitor (I usually only use her to calculate my running distance) but she worked like a charm to motivate me this morning! Seeing my heart rate encouraged me to push myself. Even while reading a novel, I was able to pedal at a high speed + high resistance. Every time I looked down at Garmy, I was reminded to keep on chuggin.’

My goal was to have my average heart rate at 150 BPM so I kept pushing to increase my average. I ran on the treadmill halfway through my workout to further bump up my heart rate. Running increases my heart rate like none other. However, I didn’t have my shin sleeves nor my running shoes on so I didn’t want to run too long.

Where I got the motivation to do some leg weights is beyond me.

Workout with Garmy > Workout without Garmy

***

Usual smoothie, usual glass.

I made a tempeh / pumpkin butter / goat cheese wrap. I wrapped it in some foil and popped it in the toaster oven. Mmmmmmmmm!

Toaster oven > Microwave for heating up wraps.

I also had some Greek yogurt with pumpkin butter and toasted pecan pieces.

Yes, I dipped the wrap in the yogurt. Good stuff.

Then I toasted some raw hazelnuts and ate them with chocolate chips.

Toasted hazelnuts > Raw hazelnuts by 5 million miles. I couldn’t even stomach 1 raw hazelnut. Gross.

***

I had to go to the dentist to get my Allie-gator teeth cleaned. Bahhhh! Thumbs down.

2 cavities > gum disease. I guess these Allie-gator jaws have been chomping on too many sweets!

Afterwards, I walked over to Harris Teeter aka home of the Red Box Machine to return The Time Traveler’s Wife, which we watched last night. It was aight (bahaha remember back in the day when everyone said that?).

I wasn’t really hungry much so I had a whole grain wrap with egg whites, cottage cheese, and a Boca Burger. Simple and easy.

Amy’s Veggie Burgers > Boca Burgers

***

Then I had s’more chcolate chips and hazelnuts. Now I’m chomping on some frozen berries.

Frozen berries ~ sorbet

I hope you learned something tonight from Mrs. Allie-Gator. Okaaay, I’m going to sign off before I say something silly.

….Umm too late.

See ya later Allie-gator!!

Pre-workout Snack: A Super Charge Me Cookie!

After blogging, I went out for a run. 1.56 miles later, I turned around and walked back home. Humph. Guess they weren’t so super-charging after all.

I quickly made a Green Smoothie to take with me to run some errands (Post Office, Target, and Trader Joe’s).

1/2 scoop Alive! Shake

1 scoop Green Superfood

4 strawberries

1/2 cup 1% milk

1 cup spinach

In my favorite cup. I had been using this nonstop for a few days….until my Momma threw it away last night (!!!). I practically shed a tear. Doesn’t this look like a Green Tea Frapp?

After I came back, I watched Geneen Roth on Oprah while ellipticalling 30 min. and treadmill walking 20 min. Geneen Roth writes some fabulous books about emotional eating, body acceptance and loving yourself. If you are looking for some insight in these area I highly recommend checking out her books.

Post workout: Pumpkin Pecan Millet Bread!

1/2 cup Greek yogurt

Pumpkin Butter

Pecans

Extra yogurt for protein.

Dried Pineapple

Shortly after, I threw together a salad of sorts.

Spinach

Stir fried zucchini and leek

Tomatoes

Smoked Gouda Cheese

Peas

Ginger Soy Vinaigrette

Love me some leek

I can’t get enough of peas lately.

Which is remarkable, actually. I don’t remember much from my childhood but I do remember hating peas more than anything in the world. I distinctly remember asking for seconds of something at lunch one day when I was in pre-school. My teacher said ‘only if you finish your peas.’

…so I tossed my tray and just walked away. There was NO WAY I was finishing my peas. Blegh.

Now I love ‘em!

Then I walked over to the public library. Yep, only 2 blocks away. I found Veganomicon and put it on hold the night before. Then when I got there, I found all these other books and a DVD! I couldn’t believe just how many cookbooks the library had. Everything from Julia Child to The Gourmet Cookbook.

I had been thinking of Super Charge Me Cookies all day long and finally got a chance to bake s’more.

Made in the toaster oven to save energy!

I enjoyed 3 of these vegan cookies with some not-so-vegan cow’s milk. This is the best tasting milk!!

I ended the night with some dried mango slices (so much better than WFs bulk section) and milk chocolate squares.

Yummers!

***

Tell Me:

1. Have you read any of Geneen Roth’s books? If so, which one(s)? What did you think?

2. What is one veggie you despised as a child but can’t get enough of now?

3. Got a favorite cookbook?

I dreamt of a day filled with nothing for months on end as I crammed for exams, typed my little hands off and dragged my tush to class. Now that my days are filled with nothing, I am itching for something to do! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not ready for actual work. Oh no…no no no. I’m just waiting for some things to fall in place i.e. the AllieBar project and securing the not-in-stock-anywhere-in-the-world camera. In the mean time, I’m just dawdling around, munching, baking more goodies to munch, and looking up recipes to bake and then to munch.

Today, I actually have something to do. Much to my dismay, it’s my most hated task: Cleaning. We have to clean the house for a prospective buyer. Oof…double oof. I hate cleaning. I hate cleaning more than anything in the world. As you know, I am a total pack rat. I’m also a clutter queen. I’ll spare you the details but let’s just say my room is the complete opposite of feng shui. In fact, if feng shui were alive, it would probably suffocate and kill feng shui in a mere 12 seconds.

***

Back to yesterday because somehow I got super behind. You know, from doing nothing and all….

I had been craving veggie juice for weeks….WEEKS! So I pulled out our Jack LaLanne juicer to make a delectable potion. My desire for juice seems to mask any memory of how much of a pain it is the clean this machine. Once again, I vowed never to use this machine ever again….until I forget about the cleaning part.

I used 2 giant carrots, ~3 cups of spinach, and 1/2 a grapefruit. I know, all that for 1/2 a glass?! Yeppers.

Served with a slice of millet bread with pumpkin butter swirled Greek yogurt.

While I engaged in further intellectual stimulation, I had not one but TWO AllieBars. When will I get sick of these??

I munched on 4 squares of white chocolate with almonds pre-workout. There are whole almonds in this bar…not chopped up bits that you can barely taste.

I managed to hit up the gym for 50 min. on the elliptical while watching Oprah.

Dinner #1:

Whole grain wrap with scrambled eggs (1 whole + 1 white), cheese, and grape tomatoes.

All wrapped up.

A couple hours later, I had dinner #2 with the rents. My dad made spinach with shrimpies.

And scrambled eggs with chopped green beans.

I had about 1/2 the spinach (!!!) with ~10 shrimpies and maybe 1/5 of the green bean dish.

For dessert, I had a mini AOL rice krispie treat that my mom brought back.

More white chocolate with almonds and 3 Super Charge Me Cookies!! I made these with dried cranberries and sunflower seeds. Now I know what the fuss is about. All I can say is WOW. I sure cleaned these up!

Off to clean now….maybe

1 exam and 1 presentation down….1 more presentation and 3 papers to go until I’m done done dunzo….forever. So close yet oh so so far. I know I should savor my last couple weeks here but in all honestly, I can’t wait to get the heck out of dodge. It’s TIME.

TIME to move on.

***

I woke up and chowed on 1/2 a Luna Bar before making my way to the gym.

Workout:

52 min. elliptical

15 min. arm weights

Streeeeetch

I did leg weights yesterday so I was a bit sore this morning. It took some TIME for my muscles to loosen up this morning.

***

Post Workout:

This is getting redundant. I know. It’s ALL I want at this TIME though!

Pumpkin Pecan Cheesecake (cottage cheese, pumpkin butter, pecans)

Yes, I ate this with a fork. TIME to dig in!

I was quite lethargic this morning so I drank an elixir to give me a boost…just in TIME for my presentation.

1/2 banana

1/2 cup almond milk

1 cup spinach

1 scoop Green Superfood

1/2 cup Greek yogurt

Literally, after 10 min.TIME, my stomach was asking for more so I made a little Greek yogurt bowl with granola and crumbled crack cookies.

I also had an uncanny craving for nut butter. Since I polished off my jar of sunflower seed butter days ago, it was TIME to crack open a new jar.

TJ’s Almond Butter with Roasted Flaxseeds. I figured this would taste similar to Naturally More but it wasn’t quite the same. This had huge chunks of almonds and was a tad salty. Naturally More also has 2g more protein due to the addition of egg whites.

I had 2 whopping spoonfuls, which instantly calmed my stomach and mind. Sometimes you really have to listen to what your body wants and give it just that so it shuts up!

***

I gobbled down dinner because I was short on TIME. I had to race off to teach my little oboe students.

.

I am not exaggerating when I say this is one of the very best combos in my life right now:

Amy’s Veggie Burger

2 Egg whites

2% Cottage cheese

I CAN’T BELIEVE I FORGOT THE KETCHUP!!!!

I usually eat this baby with ketchup but my mind was clearly somewhere else tonight.

.
Bowl of perfectly ripe pineapple chunks. This pineapple was cut open at the right TIME! I may or may not have added some chunks to the above salad. Seeing as how I love pineapple with savory foods and paired with cottage cheese, I figured it was worth a try.

.

.

.
There may have been a small dip into the almond butter jar and a crack cookie, which pushed me into ’super full’ territory. Oof. I’m sure I’ll be hungry soon enough though . Good thing I’m making a few batches of AllieBars tonight for a blogger meet up. I will inevitably eat 1-2 of them. That will count as dessert!

.
*If you’ve emailed me and I haven’t responded, I promise I’m working on it. I just need some TIME.

I’ve been cramming words into my little skull all day (exam on Tues.) and this is all I’ve got left…

This morning, I stretched out my super tight muscles with a Dave Farmar yoga podcast. I lasted about 17 min. before I skipped to pigeon pose and foam rolled. I kept his voice running in the background though. Dave Farmar is a funny guy and Allie is out of yoga shape.

Before down doggin’ I had a small snack: banana w/ sunflower seed butter. Spooky photo, huh?

After yoga stretching, I made a Chocolate Strawberry Green Smoothie:

1 packet Chocolate Green Superfood

4 strawberries

1 cup spinach

1/2 cup of almond milk

splash of 2% milk

stevia

I poured it into this jar because I think the Magic Bullet cup is ugly. As if this jar isn’t…

I also had a slice of millet bread with Greek yogurt and pumpkin butter.

I ate this last night but with cottage cheese and it tasted like pumpkin cheesecake. Sadly, I polished off the container of cottage cheese last night.

After a couple forkfuls of sunflower seed butter, I finished the jar. I’d say it was about 3 TBSP?

While studying, I made myself some Decaf Hazelnut Cream coffee. I’m not sure what the ‘artificial flavors’ are but I’m not sure I care either. So ‘licious.

I added cinnamon, stevia, and 2% milk. Hum dee dum.

Hungry again. Enter an AllieBar.

Still icing my left butt bone. These Galaxy Granola bags are awesome for icing because they’re so sturdy. I know what you’re thinking….same shorts as yesterday?!

Yep same shorts. No shame.

This one I ate. I had a big handful as a pre-workout snack.

I had been sedentary all day long and I needed to get my leggies moving….

60 min. elliptical (low to moderate intensity)

15 min. arm weights

15 min. abs ‘n’ stretch

***

Post workout BUFFET:

Tower of Protein:

2% cottage cheese (restocked!)

Amy’s Veggie Burger

4 egg whites

Millet bread

This was my first time eating millet bread savory style! Pretty stinkin’ good. I’ll admit I would’ve given anything for a tortilla to wrap this baby up though.

Dippers.

No greens. Already ate drank ‘em for breakfast. Boo yaw!

My roomie brought me back an extra boxed lunch and inside I found fruit and a ‘jumbo’ apple spice muffin. Pshhh, more like ‘teeny tiny!’

It was a little dry but that’s what the microwave is for .

I’m sure as soon as I crack open my textbook again, I’ll be foraging for a cookie.

Enjoy the last bit of your weekend!
